FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Philadelphia Biblical University in Langhorne, PA, is pleased to announce Nancy R. Pearcey as its Commencement Speaker on Saturday, May 5, 2007, 10 a.m.  At the same event, the University will award Pearcey an Honorary Doctorate in Religious Education.

Pearcey, a Christian scholar, educator, author and editor-at-large of The Pearcey Report, has been heralded as “one of the few female intellectuals in evangelicalism” (Evangelical Outpost).

She is known for her ability to provide keen commentary and analysis from a Christian worldview perspective especially in relation to cultural and scientific issues.  Her most recent book, Total Truth: Liberating Christianity from Its Cultural Captivity, won the 2005 ECPA Gold Medallion Award for best book in the category of Christianity and Society.

Formerly an agnostic, Pearcey began her studies in Christian worldview at L’Abri Fellowship
in Switzerland in the early 1970s where she studied under renowned Christian scholar and author Francis Schaeffer.  Later, she earned a Distributed Studies degree from Iowa State University and a Master’s degree in Biblical Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis.  She then pursued graduate work in the history of philosophy at the Institute for Christian Studies in Toronto.

Pearcey is currently the Francis A. Schaeffer Scholar at the World Journalism Institute and a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute.  She met her husband, writer and editor Rick Pearcey, at L’Abri, and they have two sons, Dieter and Michael.
