500th Anniversary of the Reformation and What It Means Today

By Rick Pearcey • October 31, 2017, 02:36 PM

Scott Powell writes at the Patriot Post:

When Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the church door in Wittenberg, Germany, in 1517, 500 years ago this week, he probably had no idea what forces he was unleashing. Although his intention was to spur reform within the Catholic Church rather than breaking off and starting a new church, he ended up accomplishing both.

In fact, the Reformation started by Luther set in motion an awakening that stimulated an unusual concentration of human genius and extraordinary wisdom that would culminate in the birth of a new nation -- one unprecedented in human history, dedicated to upholding its citizens' unalienable rights of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

If there had been no Reformation, there would be no United States as we know it today.

The Idiots: "Christ Church" Goes After George Washington

By Rick Pearcey • October 30, 2017, 12:05 PM

Lesbian YouTuber Storms Out of Interview: "What You're Saying Is Hurtful and Very Dangerous" -- Video

By Rick Pearcey • October 27, 2017, 06:06 PM

Paul Bremmer reports at WND:

Stevie Boebi, a "lesbian sex educator," cut short an interview by the Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson recently after Peterson made comments she found "extremely offensive," "hurtful" and "very dangerous."

And what was it that pushed her over the edge?

Peterson referred to Bruce Jenner as "a man."

"Throughout her 20-minute, sit-down interview on The Fallen State with Jesse Lee Peterson," Bremmer reports, "Boebi, who has her own YouTube channel, calmly answered questions about being a lesbian, her atheist beliefs, feminism, her father's suicide and her need for therapy."

Everything changed and the "cordial conversation took a bad turn when the subject shifted to gender identity," Bremmer writes.

In fact, Boebi would walk off stage.

"As Boebi took off her microphone, Peterson said: 'I thought you were open-minded. You’re not open-minded?'" Bremmer reports.

"Nope," the lesbian appears to reply (the video is not clear on this). "What you’re saying is hurtful and very dangerous."

Are you leaving?" Peterson asks.

"Yep."

"But I thought you were a strong woman."

Watch video of the interview.

"You're Fired!" Trump Picks Replacement for Embattled IRS Chief John Koskinen

By Rick Pearcey • October 26, 2017, 02:54 PM

Chuck Ross reports at the Daily Caller:

President Trump made it official on Thursday that embattled IRS Commissioner John Koskinen will be out of a job next month.

Trump tapped David Kautter, the Treasury Department's assistant secretary for tax policy, to serve as interim IRS commissioner, beginning Nov. 13.

Koskinen's term ends on Nov. 12. He was eligible for reappointment, but Koskinen is fiercely opposed by congressional Republicans. Members of the House Freedom Caucus attempted but failed to impeach Koskinen last year, largely over his handling of the scandal involving former IRS official Lois Lerner.

"Prior to Koskinen’s tenure, Lerner was accused targeting conservative groups who applied for non-profit status," Ross writes. "Koskinen was accused of stonewalling congressional investigators looking into Lerner's activities as well as of covering up for the Obama administration."

Needful to say, if Hillary Clinton were president, Koskinen would likely keep his job as IRS boss -- or if replaced, be replaced by someone equally "reliable," or worse.

Liberals Plan to "Scream Helplessly at the Sky" on Election Anniversary -- Video

By Rick Pearcey • October 25, 2017, 06:07 PM

Fox News Insider reports:

The rage is still strong in some Trump opponents, who plan to band together to "scream helplessly at the sky" on the one-year anniversary of the 2016 election.

Facebook events around the country invite people to gather together and let out a "primal scream over the current state of our democracy" [ahem, the U.S. is a constitutional republic, NOT a democracy] on Nov. 8.

The idea came from Boston, where people will gather in America's oldest park, the Boston Common, to scream. Other liberal cities lik New York, Austin and Philadelphia picked up the idea.

Didn't they already do this on election night (video: expletives included)?

Then there's this footage. And don't miss these all-knowing, utterly confident naysayers.

Poll: 56% of Republicans Want McConnell to Resign, 61% Support "Bannon's Push"

By Rick Pearcey • October 24, 2017, 03:33 PM

Adam Shaw reports at Breitbart:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's grip on the Republican leadership is shakier than ever, with a new Harvard-Harris poll showing that a majority of GOP voters want McConnell to resign.

The poll, provided to the Hill, found that 56 percent of Republicans want McConnell out. It also found that he has the worst approval of any politician in the survey, with a meager approval rating of just 16 percent.

The poll also found the Republican Party, while holding both chambers of Congress and the White House, has a rock-bottom approval rating as it fails to deliver on President Trump's agenda and their own campaign promises, such as repealing Obamacare and cracking down on illegal immigration.

Just 29 percent of voters approve of the job Republican lawmakers are doing, with only 53 percent of GOP voters approving of their job. The Democrats meanwhile, have a 39 percent approval rating, and it viewed favorably by 68 percent of voters.

"The lackluster support from their own voters points to the Republican Party's inability to communicate and advocate for the views of their own voters, instead of those of big business and special interests," Shaw writes.

"The Harvard-Harris poll found that only 39 percent of Republicans think their leaders represent their views," Shaw continues, "and 40 percent said that the leadership holds views “more liberal” than their own. A massive 76 percent said their leaders are out of touch with the concerns of ordinary Republican voters." [emphasis added]

Big News for Steve Bannon
Shaw observes that the "poll will make painful reading for McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), and shows that the political ground is fertile for the political revolution being brewed by Breitbart News Executive Chairman and former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon."

"Bannon is seeking to put forward primary challengers to establishment Republicans, with his litmus test for Senate challengers including a promise to vote against McConnell as majority leader if elected," Shaw continues.

Speaking of the former Trump strategist, according to Breitbart, "Bannon's numbers are strong in the Harvard-Harris poll, with 61 percent of Republicans saying they support Bannon's push, with 56 percent saying his efforts will make the party stronger. Trump's approval rating, meanwhile, stands at 80 percent among Republicans and 42 percent among voters at large."

"The Republican Party is at war with its traditional leadership, and Trump and Bannon are winning in this unprecedented schism," co-director of the poll Mark Penn said to The Hill, according to Shaw.

Players From These 11 NFL Teams Protested the National Anthem in Week 7

By Rick Pearcey • October 23, 2017, 04:55 PM

"National Football League (NFL) players continued to protest during the playing of the National Anthem before games in the 2017 season's seventh week," Greg Bannister writes at CNSNews.com. "Players from these 11 NFL teams refused to stand respectfully for the National Anthem, ESPN reports":

  • New York Giants: Defensive end Olivier Vernon knelt during the national anthem.
  • Seattle Seahawks: Michael Bennett and "several other members of the Seahawks defensive line sat on the bench."
  • Los Angeles Chargers: Tackle Russell Okung raised fist during the playing of the Anthem.
  • San Francisco 49ers: Seven players knelt and the rest stood with arms locked.
  • Tennessee Titans: Wide receiver Rishard Matthews remained in the locker room, while linebacker Wesley Woodyard and defensive lineman Jurrell Casey raised a right fist after the anthem.
  • Miami Dolphins: Three players stayed in the tunnel as the Anthem played: receiver Kenny Stills, tight end Julius Thomas and safety Michael Thomas.
  • Los Angeles Rams: Linebacker Robert Quinn raised a fist, while punter Johnny Hekker hugged him.
  • New Orleans Saints: Several players locked arms while standing for the Anthem.
  • Indianapolis Colts: Players stood, but with locked arms during the Anthem.
  • Kansas City Chiefs: Cornerback Marcus Peters and linebacker Ukeme Eligwe sat as the Anthem played.
  • Oakland Raiders: Running back Marshawn Lynch protested by sitting during the playing of the National Anthem. Lynch sat during the Anthem the previous week, as well -- and sat out most of the game after he protested a call by shoving an official. He will be unable to protest the Anthem at an upcoming game, after receiving a one-week suspension for his infraction.

Meanwhile, Breitbart reports that "NFL Teams Play Before Empty Stadiums As Fan Backlash Spreads."

Meanwhile, Part II, "Amid NFL Excuses, TV Viewership Improves 95% for Astros-Yankees over Last Season's" American League Championship Series. [emphasis added]

"The news is fairly straight-forward," John Pudner notes at Breitbart: "A record viewership for a league that stands for the anthem and plunging attendance and viewership for a league that allows protests of the national anthem despite banning every other attempt at making statements, including attempted demonstrations against domestic abuse and helmet decals honoring fallen law enforcement officers."

Alabama Senate: Roy Moore Up by 11 Over Democrat Jones

By Rick Pearcey • October 20, 2017, 03:22 PM

Paul Gattis reports at Al.com:

A Senate poll commissioned by Raycom News Network indicated that Republican candidate Roy Moore has a double-digit lead over Democrat Doug Jones.

Moore's 11-point lead over Jones is his biggest yet in five polls conducted during the general election campaign and comes two days after a Fox News poll had the race tied.

"I think the challenge for the Jones campaign is bigger than what these numbers show," pollster Jonathan Gray of Strategy Research, which conducted survey, said, according to Gattis. "Even if he were able to close the gap, how do you turn out Democrats in a state that hasn't had a viable Democratic Party in almost a dozen years?"

Moore is among serveral anti-GOP establishment, pro-Trump Senate 2018 candidates endorsed by the Great America PAC, whose chief strategist is Ed Rollins.

Alabama Senate: Fox News Voodoo Polling

By Rick Pearcey • October 18, 2017, 10:26 AM

Raheem Kassan writes at Breitbart:

Fox News thinks its pollster has revealed a dead heat between Judge Roy Moore and his Democrat opponent Doug Jones in Alabama.

The network suggests, after randomly polling just 801 people, that the firms Anderson Robbins Research and Shaw & Company have revealed a problem for Republicans in the traditionally red state.

But here’s the real problem, as I’ve spelled out before . . .

These voodoo pollsters are outright partisans, and both of these firms use methodologies that trend towards whatever benefits the establishment.

Here's their data this time, which reveals not only the strange questions asked per group, but also the small sample size, the overeliance (and need for correction) on cell vs. landline users (i.e. traditionally younger vs. traditionally older voters).

Weinstein Fallout: Amazon Studio Chief Resigns

By Rick Pearcey • October 17, 2017, 05:51 PM

Lesley Goldberg reports at The Hollywood Reporter:

Roy Price's days at Amazon Studios have come to an end.

Days after one of the retail outlet and streaming giant's top producers accused Price of sexual harassment, the executive has resigned as head of Amazon Studios

Price was placed on a leave of absence on Oct. 12, with Amazon chief operating officer Albert Cheng taking over on an interim basis. The suspension was considered indefinite, with Price making the move permanent Tuesday with his resignation. (Industry observers did not expect Price to return.) In the wake of the sexual harassment allegations, Price's fiancee, writer Lila Feinberg, called off their planned wedding. (She was to wear a custom dress designed by Georgina Chapman, the estranged wife to Harvey Weinstein.)

"Price's resignation comes days after Isa Hackett, a producer on Amazon's The Man in the High Castle and Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams, detailed in an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter her 'shocking and surreal' experience with the programming chief in July 2015," Goldberg writes.

"You will love my d---," Hackett quotes Price as saying, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Hackett then reportedly "relayed her account to others. The producer says she reported the incident immediately to Amazon executives."

The resignation "news comes after Amazon scrapped Price's top priority -- a $160 million Weinstein Co.-produced David O. Russell drama starring Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore — just a day after the executive's suspension," Goldberg reports.

"Amazon on Friday completely cut ties with The Weinstein Co. in the wake of rape and sexual harassment allegations against former co-founder Harvey Weinstein," Goldberg continues.

"Amazon's relations with Weinstein again became part of the news narrative Thursday when actress Rose McGowan fired off a string of tweets to Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos. The first: '@JeffBezos I told the head of your studio that HW raped me. Over & over I said it. He said it hadn't been proven. I said I was the proof'."

According to Goldberg, McGowan also alleged "that a script she had in development with the company was later killed. The tweets received heavy attention in part because this was the first time that McGowan had identified her assailant by name."

Tomi Lahren: Hillary Outraged Over Harvey Weinstein's Behavior? She's "Still Married to Bill"

By Rick Pearcey • October 16, 2017, 02:53 PM

Michael Chapman reports at CNSNews.com:

Long-time women's rights activist and politician Hillary Clinton said she viewed the sexual harassment and rape allegations against her friend and financial backer Harvey Weinstein "intolerable in every way," a view that conservative commentator Tomi Lahren found ironic and comical given that Hillary is "still married" to Bill Clinton, who also has a string of sexual harassment claims and a rape allegation against him. [emphasis added]

On Fox's Watters' World, Oct. 15, host Jesse Watters mentioned that Hillary Clinton said she "was just sick" and "appalled" about the allegations against Weinstein, but when asked if she would return donations to her from the Hollywood mogul, Clinton had claimed, "well, there's no one to give it back to."

Watters said, "What do you mean there’s no one to give it back to? You just write 'Harvey Weinstein' on a check and send it back to Hollywood, right, Tomi?"

According to Chapman, commentator Tom Lahren of the Fox News Channel, replied, "Oh, we know that Hillary struggled with some of these things especially when she's put in that position. But the funniest thing about her comment there is she finds this intolerable."

"Um, you're still married to Bill," Lahren is quoted as saying. "Apparently you don't find these things that intolerable."

"Over the last three decades there have numerous allegations of sexual harassment and at least one allegation of rape against Bill Clinton," Chapman reports.

All New Schools in Nevada District Will Have Gender-Neutral Bathrooms Only

By Rick Pearcey • October 13, 2017, 10:32 AM

And all new students at new schools in this Nevada district will have gender-neutral bodies. After all, it's just biology.

In a couple of years, this may not just be science-fiction. Welcome to the next phase in post-human liberation, baby.

And please don't complain parents: As if these students are your kids. That's so yesterday, patriarchal, racist, intolerant, homophobic, and privileged.

As if the high costs -- the "upgrade" at a new school is $500,000 -- were not worth it.

In fact, a bigshot in re-education camp circles says, "It's a small cost to the long-term of what we're trying to do to educate our children."

And by the way: Because gender-neutrality is the order of the day, futurologists inform us that the number of sex attacks will fall to zero.

This is hardly surprising: With gender-neutral attitudes and gender-neutral bodies, what is there to attack? Equality of bodies and bathrooms equals safety and security for all.

So, please, highly valued parents: Just keep breeding, paying taxes, and handing off "your" kids to the all-wise, all-knowing, all-educating, all-loving state.

Don't think, just believe. Don't parent, just breed. Don't act, just submit.

Here's the story at Circa.com.

K-12 Fanatics Factories: Minnesota Is Ground Zero in Left's Efforts to Brainwash Young People

By Rick Pearcey • October 12, 2017, 10:44 AM

Matthew Vadum writes at Frontpagemag.com:

In places like Edina, Minnesota, the Left has transformed K-12 schools into indoctrination factories whose overarching purpose is to train students to be reflexively racist and anti-American.

Educators in Edina, a wealthy Minneapolis suburb, don't even try to conceal their sinister goals.

Elementary school students there are subjected to an A-B-C book titled A is for Activist. Among the alphabetized propaganda points are these gems:

"A is for Activist. Are you an Activist?"

"C is for . . . Creative Counter to Corporate vultures."

"F is for Feminist."

"T is for Trans."

"X is for Malcolm as in Malcolm X."

"When Donald Trump won the election last November, anarchy and partisan bullying paralyzed the high school," Vadum explains.

"I felt like the school was descending into mass hysteria," Vadum quotes a student as saying the "day after the election. Another said Trump's victory was treated as 'the end of the world as we know it'."

Press Release: Nancy Pearcey's New Book "Love Thy Body"

By Rick Pearcey • October 11, 2017, 02:40 PM

Former Agnostic Exposes Secularist Hostility to the Body
That Drives Homosexuality, Transgenderism and More

Why the call to Love Thy Body? Because today's most controversial moral issues are driven by an alienating hostility toward the body and biology. In her new book Love Thy Body: Answering Hard Questions about Life and Sexuality, bestselling author Nancy Pearcey goes beyond politically correct talking points to give a riveting exposé of the dehumanizing impact of secularist views of life and sexuality, demonstrating that they undermine human dignity and destroy human rights.

Many people absorb media mantras on watershed ethical questions without being aware of their hurtful implications. Consider:

  • Transgenderism: Activists detach gender from biology. Kids down to kindergarten are being taught their body is irrelevant to their authentic self. Is this affirming -- or does it demean the body?
  • Homosexuality: Advocates disconnect sexuality from biological identity as male or female. Is this liberating -- or does it denigrate who we are?
  • Abortion: Supporters say the fetus is not a person, though biologically human. Does this mean equality for women -- or does it threaten the dignity of all humans?
  • Euthanasia: Those who lack certain cognitive abilities are said to be human but not persons. Is this compassionate -- or does it ultimately put everyone at risk?

A former agnostic, Pearcey has been hailed in The Economist as "America's preeminent evangelical Protestant female intellectual." She turns the tables on media clichés that misportray Christianity as harsh or hateful. Fearlessly and with compassion, she makes a surprising and persuasive case that Christianity -- unlike secularism -- is holistic, sustaining the dignity of the body and biology, thus giving a secure basis for human rights.

Throughout Pearcey engages readers with searing stories of people wrestling with hard questions in their own lives -- their pain, their struggles, their triumphs.

Hillary Clinton Doesn't Mention Weinstein Once During 90-Minute Speech

By Rick Pearcey • October 10, 2017, 11:11 AM

Amber Randall reports at the Daily Caller:

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton neglected to mention the sexual harassment accusations against Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein during a 90-minute speech Monday night.

Clinton addressed a crowd at the University of California, Davis on topics like climate change, recent natural disasters and the National Football League protests of the national anthem.

Clinton, however, didn't talk about the women that have come forward to accuse Weinstein of sexually harassing them and allegedly paying them off throughout the years.

"Weinstein, a big-time donor to the Democratic Party, has donated to the Clintons in the past," Randall continues. "During the 1990s, Weinstein gave money to support former President Bill Clinton's legal defense fund, while Clinton attended multiple fundraisers that Weinstein worked on during the 2016 campaign. The Clintons also rented a Hampton house in 2015 that was right next door to Weinstein's. . . ."

Zachary Leeman writes at LifeZette:

Sixty-five-year-old Harvey Weinstein co-founded the successful studios Miramax and The Weinstein Company, and jumpstarted the careers of such filmmakers as Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith. He has arguably been Hollywood's biggest producer for decades.

The mega-producer has also been an outspoken liberal over the years. He's long been a critic of the NRA, and he was a major donor to Hillary Clinton's 2016  presidential campaign. He even participated in the women's march in January of this year.

A new report from The New York Times reveals that aside from his professional accomplishments and political advocacy over the past decades, Weinstein has also been leading a secret life.

Rep. Scalise, Shot in June, Defends 2nd Amendment

By Rick Pearcey • October 5, 2017, 08:33 AM

Susan Jones reports at CNSNews.com:

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), seriously injured when a gunman opened fire at a baseball practice in June, is back on Capitol Hill this week, sending prayers to the victims of another gunman in Las Vegas and standing up for the Second Amendment.

Sitting with his fellow lawmakers who came to his rescue on June 14, Scalise told Fox News's Martha McCallum on Wednesday that he has not changed his mind on the Second Amendment:

"You know, what happened in my case, you had people on site to immediately encounter the shooter and take him down.

"And that happens everyday in America, where regular citizens that have their own guns because of the Second Amendment protection, are able to defend themselves against criminals."

"Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas) said the Second Amendment is not about target shooting or hunting," Jones reports and then quotes the congressman as saying: "The Second Amendment is about an armed people to stand up to tyranny from a government that they would be opposed to. So we need to couch the Second Amendment in its proper light."

Sheriff Lombardo: Did Shooter "Get Radicalized"?

By Rick Pearcey • October 4, 2017, 09:32 AM

"Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo gave a press conference Tuesday and responded to questions whether Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock had been 'radicalized'," Justin Caruso reports at the Daily Caller.

"Speaking to reporters, Lombardo said," according to the DC, "'I want to understand the motivation that you described, okay, to prevent any future incidents, and, you know, did this person get radicalized unbeknownst to us? And we want to identify that source'."

If radicalization is "confirmed, this suggests that there may have been a political motive behind the massacre," Paul Joseph Watson writes at Infowars.

The Reactionaries: Sickness on Display in Responses to Las Vegas Mass Murder

By Rick Pearcey • October 3, 2017, 11:12 AM

Patricia McCarthy writes at American Thinker:

[America] just witnessed, endured, and suffered the worst mass shooting in its history. A crazed psychopath holed up in the Mandalay Bay hotel; stocked up on ammo and guns; and, at the close of a music festival across the street, shot at the crowd of 22 thousand people for over ten minutes with high-powered rifles that appear to have been converted to machine guns.  Fifty-nine people died.  Five hundred or more were injured, many of them seriously. It was a terrible, murderous event.

The horror of it has led some on the left to reveal the amoral emptiness at their cores. Because the festival was a country music celebration, they assumed that the attendees were Republicans and so deserved to die.

An executive attorney for CBS, Hayley Geftman-Gold, tweeted
". . . am actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often republican gun toters." What a gal! Her parents must be so proud. Dennis Prager has often commented that if you want the values with which raised your kids to be bred out of them, send them to law school. . . .
