Mark Levin: Supreme Court "Doesn't Deserve Your Respect Ever Again"

By Rick Pearcey • June 30, 2015, 11:00 AM

Kathleen Brown reports at CNSNews.com:

Nationally syndicated radio host Mark Leven called the U.S. Supreme Court’s Obergefell v. Hodges ruling legalizing gay marriage "utterly lawless" and a "bastardization" of the Constitution's 14th Amendment.

"The idea that the 14th Amendment -- a Civil War amendment -- somehow reaches the personal policy agenda of Anthony Kennedy is an absurdity. It's a bastardization," Levin said on his Friday broadcast.

"A lawless Supreme Court -- utterly lawless, it's absolutely nuts -- doesn't deserve your respect ever again," Levin is quoted as saying, "even if it issues an opinion that you like."

Supreme Deception on Marriage Pours "Fuel on the Fire"

By Rick Pearcey • June 29, 2015, 09:44 AM

From Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, at Christian Post:

If the President, his party, and this court think that they have resolved this controversial issue, they're mistaken.

By disenfranchising 50 million Americans, in a decision divorced of law and logic, they have only poured fuel on the fire.

The Left will say we are on the wrong side of history, but that shouldn't matter if we're on the right side of truth.

After Supreme Court Upholds Obamacare, Texas Congressman Introduces Bill Aimed Directly at Justices

By Rick Pearcey • June 26, 2015, 06:23 AM

Oliver Darcy reports at The Blaze:

Rep. Brian Babin (R-Texas) responded to a Supreme Court decision upholding a key Obamacare provision Thursday by introducing a bill in the House that would require each of the justices to enroll in the controversial health care program.

"As the Supreme Court continues to ignore the letter of the law, it's important that these six individuals understand the full impact of their decisions on the American people," Babin stated in a press release, according to The Blaze.

There's a Reason We Hear Only About White "Micro-Agression"

By Rick Pearcey • June 25, 2015, 07:30 AM

Ann Coulter writes:

The massacre of black churchgoers in Charleston by an evil psycho is a hideous thing. The case is especially sickening because the victims were chosen specifically because of their race. Thank God it's extremely rare for whites to target black people for attack.

And yet the public is being told by the New York Times, the Washington Post, MSNBC and Salon that the Charleston massacre is proof that we live in a country packed with marauding racist murderers. It's like saying we have an epidemic of men flying gyrocopters onto Capitol Hill. Yes, there's that one time, but I notice you keep citing the same case.

"The media will pounce on any suspicion of a white-on-black crime, spend a year being hysterical about it, and, if it turns out to be a false alarm, refuse to apologize, before quickly moving on to the next hoax," Coulter observes.

"The Charleston church shooting is the first case in a very long time in which blacks really were targeted by a white person because of their race (and had the misfortune of being in a gun-free zone)," Couter writes. "Even Bennett had to reach back to stories her grandmother told her about the Ku Klux Klan (100 percent Democratic) to come up with a previous example of whites terrorizing blacks."

Coulter concludes: "The Charleston attack was a hideous, sickening crime. But that’s why we should thank our lucky stars that it was so unusual. White-on-black violence is freakishly rare everywhere in America, except in liberal imaginations."

Hypocrisy & Hate: Smug Attacks on the Confederate Flag

By Rick Pearcey • June 24, 2015, 07:05 AM

George Neumayer writes at American Spectator:

The hate on display in the controversy is coming not from the flag's defenders but from a smug liberal elite that can’t rest until every inch of America conforms to their liberal prejudices. . . .

Only the liberal elite could be smug enough to think America is moving from a culture of "hate" to a culture of love under its dictates.

Instead, it is moving toward a new culture of hate, one that is marked not by balanced moral judgments but by fanatical fiats.

"'We are on the right side of history,' its champions claim, but future generations will likely find such deluded moral boasting as far less honorable than the Civil War valor the Left seeks to erase," Neumayer concludes.

Rick Perry: "We Will Do Everything We Can to Protect" the Unborn

By Rick Pearcey • June 23, 2015, 09:39 AM

Craig Millward reports at CNSNews.com:

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry said at the Faith and Freedom Coalition's Road to Majority conference on Saturday, "We will do everything we can to protect" the unborn, and "in God's eyes, there is no such thing as an unwanted child."

"I am running to be your president, all of you -- for the unborn, whose potential is God-given, whose conception is a demonstration of God's infinite grace.

"Those lives matter, and we will do everything we can to protect them," Perry said, according to CNSNews.com.

Inside Look: How Obama Killed the U.S.-Israel Relationship

By Rick Pearcey • June 19, 2015, 07:27 AM

Adam Kredo write at the Washington Free Beacon:

In his new memoir, former Israeli Ambassador [to the United States] Michael Oren documents the rapid dissolution of the historically close U.S.-Israel alliance under President Barack Obama . . . .

The memoir, Ally: My Journey Across the American-Israeli Divide, has already rushed to the top of Amazon’s bestseller list.

It provides a window into the daily stresses and strains Obama and his allies heaped upon the Jewish state -- from placing unprecedented demands on Israel regarding the peace process to fabricating crises in the U.S.-Israel alliance.

Oren's new book exposes Obama's "immense hosility, anger at Israel," the Free Beacon states.

Texas Passes Campus Carry

By Rick Pearcey • June 17, 2015, 07:37 AM

Gabriella Morrongiello reports at Campus Reform:

Gun rights groups nationwide spent the weekend celebrating after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) signed a bill allowing students to carry concealed firearms on public college and university campuses throughout the state.

Abbott signed the hotly contested legislation into law at a shooting range Saturday, just months after the bill was first introduced to state legislators. In addition to campus carry, the Republican governor authorized licensed Texans to openly carry holstered handguns in designated concealed-carry locations.

"The police can’t be everywhere at once,” McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara is quoted as stating in February testimony to the Texas state legislature. "We’ve had a lot of active shooters who've come into schools," the sheriff said. "These shooters are usually cowards, and cowards love gun-free zones."

"Indiana University senior Crayle Vanest sits on the national board of Students for Concealed Carry and says the organization has seen female membership increase 'massively' over the last year," Campus Reform reports.

Franklin Graham: Cherish Freedom? Then Ban Sharia Law

By Rick Pearcey • June 12, 2015, 08:17 AM

Michael Chapman reports at CNSNews.com:

In response to a BBC report on the barbaric nature of life under the Islamic State in Iraq, Christian evangelist Franklin Graham said sharia (or Islamic) law should be banned from America and "all countries that cherish freedom," adding that women, gays, Christians, and minorites are being "tortured and killed," and President Obama does not seem to know what to do.

Graham also called on people to "pray for all those living under Islam."

"The BBC just published a story about life under radical Islam -- what it’s really like," CNSNews quotes Rev. Graham as saying in a June 11 Facebook post. "This is a vivid reminder of why Sharia law should be banned in the U.S. and all countries that cherish freedom and liberty."

Jeb Bush Campaign in Lot More Trouble Than They're Letting On

By Rick Pearcey • June 11, 2015, 07:37 AM

Christopher Bedford writes at the Daily Caller:

Former Gov. Jeb Bush’s campaign is in trouble.

This week alone, it has sustained a top-level campaign shake-up and reports have circulated that it may fall short of its fundraising goal.

But a review of the public record shows it already fell way short of its fundraising goal, and has been behind predictions for months. Not by a few million dollars, either, but by as much as $400 million -- or 80 percent as the most optimistic predictions Bush loyalists have circulated.

"All of this -- campaign shuffles and fundraising shortfalls -- before Mr. Bush has even declared his candidacy," Bedford writes. "What happened?"

Franklin Graham Group Dropping Wells Fargo After Ad Featuring Homosex Couple

By Rick Pearcey • June 9, 2015, 08:09 AM

Franklin Graham writes on his Facebook page:

How can we fight the tide of moral decay that is being crammed down our throats by big business, the media, and the gay & lesbian community?

Every day it is something else! Tiffany’s started advertising wedding rings for gay couples. Wells Fargo bank is using a same-sex couple in their advertising. And there are more.

But it has dawned on me that we don’t have to do business with them.

At the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, we are moving our accounts from Wells Fargo to another bank.

And guess what -- we don’t have to shop at Tiffany & Co., there are plenty of other jewelry stores.

This is one way we as Christians can speak out -- we have the power of choice.

Someone might want to let Wells Fargo know that hating God and discriminating against holistic norms for family life, the community of marriage, human sexuality is a bad idea.

Moreover, just as Wells Fargo should never accept counterfeit money, likewise the bank should never accept counterfeit "marriage."

Expert: Transgender Surgery Isn't the Solution

By Rick Pearcey • June 5, 2015, 07:52 AM

See this from Dr. Paul McHugh, former psychiatrist in chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital, writing in the Wall Street Journal in June 2014:

The government and media alliance advancing the transgender cause has gone into overdrive in recent weeks.

On May 30, a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services review board ruled that Medicare can pay for the "reassignment" surgery sought by the transgendered -- those who say that they don't identify with their biological sex.

Earlier last month Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said that he was "open" to lifting a ban on transgender individuals serving in the military. Time magazine, seeing the trend, ran a cover story for its June 9 issue called "The Transgender Tipping Point: America's next civil rights frontier."

Yet policy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the transgendered by treating their confusions as a right in need of defending rather than as a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention.

This intensely felt sense of being transgendered constitutes a mental disorder in two respects. The first is that the idea of sex misalignment is simply mistaken -- it does not correspond with physical reality. The second is that it can lead to grim psychological outcomes.

Final paragraph: "At the heart of the problem is confusion over the nature of the transgendered. 'Sex change' is biologically impossible. People who undergo sex-reassignment surgery do not change from men to women or vice versa. Rather, they become feminized men or masculinized women.

"Claiming that this is civil-rights matter and encouraging surgical intervention is in reality to collaborate with and promote a mental disorder."

Texas Poised to Roll Back 140-Year-Old Open Carry Gun Ban

By Rick Pearcey • June 4, 2015, 09:04 AM

Melissa Jacobs reports at Fox News:

The near-certain signing into law of an open-carry gun measure will send Texas back to the days of the Wild West -- at least legislatively.

The bill, passed by the state Legislature and expected to earn Gov. Greg Abbott’s signature within the next week, would reverse a 140-year-old ban on carrying handguns in plain sight. Despite its reputation as a pro-gun state, Texas is one of just five with an outright ban on open carry.

"It’s a thumbs up for law-abiding citizens," said Rep. Debbie Riddle. Riddle, a Republican who represents part of Houston and co-sponsored the bill. "Everywhere there is a denial of Second Amendment rights, crime is through the roof. It’s a deterrent. If someone is going to rob a convenience store and there are other people inside with guns on their hips, they might think twice."

"As a gun-owning Texas mom, this is not the Texas I want for my family or community," said Sandy Chasse of the Texas chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, according to Fox News.

On the other hand, "criminals aren’t afraid of prison, they’re afraid of getting shot,” noted C.J. Grisham, president and CEO of Open Carry Texas," Fox News reports.

Scarborough: Hillary Clinton "Running Scared" From the Press

By Rick Pearcey • June 3, 2015, 09:40 AM

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough accused Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton of "running scared" from the press Wednesday on Morning Joe.

After a new CNN poll revealed 57 percent of respondents do not find Clinton honest or trustworthy, Scarborough said Clinton couldn’t continue to be fearful of addressing questions about her beleaguered tenure at the State Department.

"At some point, she can’t be horrified of putting a microphone up, standing in front of it and answering everybody’s questions," Scarborough is quoted as saying.

"Until she does that, this campaign doesn’t really feel officially started. She can do all she wants to do, but as long as she’s running scared, and she is running scared right now from the press, until she can stand in front of that microphone and answer those questions, these questions that everybody has are going to continue to loom over her," MSNBC's Scarborough said, according to the Beacon.

The Profound Racism of "Black Lives Matter"

By Rick Pearcey • June 2, 2015, 08:18 AM

John Perazzo writes at Frontpagemag.com:

"Black Lives Matter." At first blush, it seems difficult to imagine anyone taking issue with the obvious, self-evident truth articulated by those three simple words.

But when we peel away the veneer of deception, we find that Black Lives Matter (BLM) is in fact one of the most destructive, hateful, racist movements in living memory.

Founded by a core group of revolutionaries who detest the United States and revere the nation’s most devoted radical enemies, BLM is, at its essence, an ideological reincarnation of the Black Panther movement that flourished in the Sixties.

Texas Deprives Planned Parenthood of $1.2 Million a Year in Taxpayer Funding

By Rick Pearcey • June 1, 2015, 04:45 PM

Fr. Mark Hodges reports at LifeSiteNews:

Texas legislators have deprived Planned Parenthood of an estimated $1.2 million of taxpayer funds a year by removing the nation's largest abortion provider from a program that provides women with cancer screenings.

"Many feel very strongly that the facilities receiving funding should not be facilities that are performing abortions," said Sen. Jane Nelson, chair of the Senate Committee on Finance. "So, the answer is: Don't perform abortions and you get the money."

"Updated budget language removes Planned Parenthood from the Breast and Cervical Cancer Services (BCCS) program by stipulating that providers must be eligible for the Texas Women's Health Program," according to LifeSiteNews.
