Parasitic Worm Named After Obama

By Rick Pearcey • September 9, 2016, 02:01 PM

"Baracktrema obamai" -- And the scientist apparently means it in a good way.

I wonder if the next parasitic worm needing appellation can be named after the federal government. In a good way, of course.

Gallup Poll: Contra Obama, White and Non-White Americans Massively Favor Photo ID to Vote

By Rick Pearcey • August 24, 2016, 03:32 PM

According to the results of a Gallup poll published this week, 80% of Americans favor "requiring all voters to provide photo identification at their voting place in order to vote."

What's more, according to Gallup, this very strong support is reflected across the diversity of races in the U.S., with 81% of whites favoring a photo ID requirement and 77% of nonwhites favoring photo ID.

This strong support and broad unity stand in contrast to the divisive, out-of-touch, fraud-friendly approach of Barack Obama.

On the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, Obama specifically targeted "laws with restrictive photo ID requirements" as a contemporary example of "many people trying to erect new barriers to the vote."

In fact, what Americans of all colors strongly favor are barriers to voter fraud -- restrictions on the possibility of stealing elections. And photo ID makes it more difficult to commit voter fraud.

"In sum," Gallup concludes, Americans want "stronger checks against fraud." That's a good thing. Right, Mr. Obama?

Viva Diversity!!! Federal Court Blocks Obama Regime's Extremist Trans Agenda

By Rick Pearcey • August 22, 2016, 04:21 PM

Ken Klukowski reports at Breitbart:

A federal judge has ruled in favor of 13 states against President Barack Obama's directive that public schools must allow students and adults to enter whatever bathrooms or showers they choose, a policy imposing transgenderism on the nation's schools.

Among the reasons the judge ruled that Obama's unilateral action is illegal is "because it violates the meaning of 'sex' in Title VII and Title IX, making the directive contrary to law," Klukowski writes.

The meaning of "sex" in Title VII and Title IX has nothing to do with how a 3rd-grader feels on Tuesday at 10 a.m. -- whether that feeling is "girlish" or "boyish." The meaning has rather to do with the biological facts of life, such that young males are biologically boys and young females are biologically girls. It's a wonderful diversity that respects the facts of life.

Why does Obama seek to crush this diversity?

Sometimes, it seems, politicians lose their way. Especially when they lust after power. And especially when they view government power as the means to impose their very private, fact-challenged personal belief system.

What's more, if they can cloak that lust in focus-group tested propaganda ("discrimination!" "equality!"), so much the better -- for the lustful politician, that is, not so much for the people over whom the Mussolinis seek to lord it over.

But, someone has said, "Facts are stubborn things." And thank the God of facts, evidence, evaluation, and critical thinking for that.

I'll tell you a secret: There's a really wonderful kind of discrimination called noticing the differences between male and female, boys and girls, men and women.

No doubt, Obama himself practiced discrimination when he chose his wife, Michelle, discriminating not only against all men but also discriminating against all other women.

I am sure that this would be an ongoing discrimination that wife Michelle might mightily agree with and respect.

And because of that "discrimination," just one woman (Michelle) now enjoys a very unequal amount of access to a man who not only is her husband but also is the president of the United States.

Clearly: This is good discrimination performed on behalf of a wonderful diversity. And a rather large tip of the hat to the joys of inequality, too.

But Obama's extremist transgenderism is anything but good and wonderful. For it rejects the facts of life and it seeks to impose upon all America a relativistic ideology that in principle alienates a person's "gender" from that person's biological sex.

That's not governance, it's fanatcism. And the guilty party is Obama.

That's not respect, it's alienation. And the divisive one is Obama.

Let's celebrate this victory of common sense rooted in facts over against extremist politics rooted in fanaticism.

Intelligence "tests everything" and revolts when necessary. We shall overcome.

How Obama's Blackout on "Radical Islam" Leads to Dots Going Unconnected

By Rick Pearcey • June 20, 2016, 10:10 AM

From the NYPost:

Here's a painful truth: Nearly 15 years after 9/11, US counterterror efforts failed to thwart the Orlando attacker. As they failed to prevent San Bernardino, Calif., Garland, Texas. Boston. Fort Hood . . .

And yet, in every one of those cases, the feds had their chance. Is something hobbling federal counterterror efforts?

Nancy Pearcey: Darwin's Dangerous Idea Invades the School Restroom

By Rick Pearcey • May 26, 2016, 10:28 AM

Nancy writes at Uncommon Descent:

The public has responded swiftly and strongly against the Obama administration’s demand that public schools admit transgender students into the showers, locker rooms, and sports teams of their choice. But to be successful, the response must also be informed. Where did transgender ideology come from, and how can we respond more effectively?

The answer may surprise you. If we dig deeply, we discover that the turning point, historically, was Darwin’s theory of evolution. It had a lasting impact in at least three ways.

Matter Does Not Matter

Let’s tease out its impact through the language of the transgender movement. California set the tone in 2007 when it changed its education code to define gender as “a person’s gender identity and gender related appearance and behavior whether or not stereotypically associated with the person’s assigned sex at birth.”

What’s the key word here? “Assigned.” As though a person’s sex at birth were purely arbitrary instead of a scientific, biological fact.

What such language implies is that biological facts do not matter. The law is being used to impose a worldview that denigrates the physical body as inconsequential, insignificant, and irrelevant to gender identity. It is a worldview that alienates people from their own bodies. As Anglican theologian Oliver O’Donovan writes, transgender ideology implies that “the body is an accident that has befallen the real me; the real me has a true sex” apart from my body.

Where did such a negative view of the body come from? From Darwin’s rejection of purpose and design in nature. Both classical Greek and Christian philosophy regarded the natural world as teleological – from the Greek telos, meaning purpose or goal. It is evident that eyes are for seeing and ears for hearing; fins are for swimming and wings for flying. The only reason molecules are arranged in those particular configurations is to achieve a purpose.

Because the human body is part of nature, it too was recognized as having a purpose. The sexual differentiation of male and female was not some cosmic accident. It showed that the human body is oriented toward opposite-sex pair-bonding for emotional attachment and procreation. Teleology is the basis for naturallaw ethics: It tells us how to fulfill our true nature, how to become fully human.

Darwin did not deny that nature appears to be designed for a purpose. But he wanted to reduce that appearance to an illusion, the result of a purposeless material process. The two elements of his theory, random variations sifted by the blind automatic forces of natural selection, were proposed expressly to eliminate plan or purpose.

As historian Jacques Barzun writes, “This denial of purpose is Darwin’s distinctive contention.”

The implication of the Darwinian worldview is that the biological differentiation of male and female is a cosmic accident. The body was reduced to raw material that can be manipulated and controlled to serve human needs and preferences – like any other natural resource. Gender identity is strictly in the mind, even to the point of overriding biological identity. Matter does not matter.

This was “Darwin’s dangerous idea,” says philosopher Daniel Dennett in a book by that title. He describes Darwinism as a “universal acid; it eats through just about every traditional concept and leaves in its wake a revolutionized world-view.”

Virginia School Board Unanimously Rejects Obama Transgender Bathroom Dictate

By Rick Pearcey • May 24, 2016, 10:30 AM

"A Virginia school board unanimously approved an ordinance on Friday resisting the Obama administration's transgender bathroom edict and requiring students to use bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond with their biological sex," Claire Chretien reports at LifeSiteNews.

"The ordinance, which immediately took effect, allows public school students in Grayson County, Virginia, to request to use a single-stall facility but prevents them from accessing facilities that don't correspond with their biological sex," LifeSite reports.

Now Louisiana Tells Schools to Ignore Obama's Dead-on-Arrival Transgender Order

By Rick Pearcey • May 19, 2016, 09:52 AM

"Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry said the [Obama] order lacks not just the force of law, but any constitutional standing or common sense," LifeSiteNews reports.

"In his own letter to state educational leaders, Landry said he wrote 'to reassure' them that he 'will vigorously defend the state and its citizens from unlawful action threatened on the basis of this incorrect interpretation of law'," LifeSite reports.

"Let me be perfectly clear," Landry states in his letter, "President Obama and his appointees do not have legal authority to require our children share locker rooms and bathrooms with children of the oppositive sex."

Louisiana thus "joins the growing list of states that told the Obama administration its transgender guidelines are dead on arrival and will not be implemented in the remaining months of his lame duck presidency," LifeSiteNews states.

Doctors Rip Obama for Opening Border to Exotic Sexually Transmitted Diseases

By Rick Pearcey • February 26, 2016, 08:08 AM

Paul Bremmer reports at WND:

The Obama administration's Department of Health and Human Services has decided to no longer ban foreigners with three particular sexually transmitted diseases from entering the country, leaving the past president of the American Association of American Physicians and Surgeons wondering what the administration possibly could be thinking.

"I’m just appalled at this whole thing, and I guess I have to say who benefits?" Dr. Lee Hieb, M.D., a spinal surgeon, asked in an interview with WND. "What's this all about? Why would they do this? What possible benefit to Americans is there in accepting yet more disease across the border?"

Liberalism, Debt, Dependency: How History Will Remember Obama

By Rick Pearcey • February 11, 2016, 10:25 AM

Terry Jeffrey writes at CNSNews.com:

In the budget message he sent Congress this week, Obama portrays himself as a president who led America back to economic good times . . . .

Is Obama the architect of an economic renaissance? A champion of the working man?

Is this what reasonable people a century from now will look back and see in the era of his presidency?

No. Nor should people see that now.

The truth is: Obama took office at a time when big-government liberalism had already put America on a downward trajectory. He not only kept this nation on that trajectory, he accelerated it.

Really, Mr. Obama: Islam "Always Been a Part of America"?

By Rick Pearcey • February 9, 2016, 11:18 AM

Joseph Klein writes at Frongpagemag.com:

To single out Islam as an unabashedly positive force that has “always been part of America” is simply not supported by the historical record.

No mosques were even built in the United States until the early twentieth century.

Muslim slave traders enabled the market for slaves to grow in America.

The first war that the young United States fought against foreign powers was against Muslim states.

The founding fathers cited by Obama who owned copies of the Koran were not comfortable with the rigidity of Islamic doctrine and its warrior mentality.

Muslim Americans’ contributions to such fields as science and jurisprudence, such as they are, did not begin in earnest until well after the middle of the twentieth century.

And, by the way, Mr. Obama, the "oldest mosque in the U.S. was built in North Dakota in 1929," Klein writes.

That would be 153 years after the Declaration of Independence was set forth in 1776 and 322 years after the Jamestown was founded in 1607.

Breitbart: "Welcoming" Christian Charities Try to Crush Americans' "Pockets of Resistance" to Muslim Migration

By Rick Pearcey • December 2, 2015, 09:31 AM

Michael Patrick Leahy writes at Breitbart:

The nine contractors receiving huge payments from the White House’s $1billion U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program have launched an aggressive PR campaign to crush what they call "pockets of resistance" to the Muslim migration into the United States.

That campaign is led by Welcoming America, a "non-profit" immigrant advocacy group run by “Ashoka Fellow” David Lubell. His group received its first funding in 2007 from the George Soros-financed Four Freedoms Foundation.

"The Obama administration intends to bring at least 10,000 Syrian refugees, almost all Muslim, to the U.S. in FY 2016, unless Congress decides this month to restrict the program's use of taxpayers' funds," Leahy writes.

"Five of these nine 'voluntary agencies,' dubbed VOLAGs, are Christian non-profit organizations," Leahy explains. "They include Catholic Charities, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, Church World Service, Episcopal Migration Ministries, and World Relief Corporation, which is an arm of the National Association of Evangelicals."

According to Leahy, "the phrase 'pockets of resistance' first entered the vocabulary of the State Department and the subcontracting VOLAGs in 2013, as Ann Corcoran of Refugee Resettlement Watch wrote at the time. But its origins can be traced to the founding of Lubell’s Welcoming America, which was financially aided by George Soros."

Welcoming America has since "scrubbed the link to George Soros and the Four Freedoms Fund that was once on its website," Leahy notes. "The screenshot showing that connection, however, can still be found using the Internet Wayback Machine here."

Meanwhile, "lopsided majorities of Americans strongly oppose the migration of Muslims to the United States," Leahy writes. He explains:

Muslim migrants tend to be unskilled, heavily reliant on taxpayer-funded welfare programs, reluctant to integrate into Americans' society, are under intense pressure from fellow migrants to preserve their own mix of religion, culture and politics, relatively likely to join jihad groups -- 56 Muslims were indicted on jihad charges in the first 11 months of 2015 -- and to support pro-jihad political groups.

"Yet the federal government is set to increase their population in the United States up to 6.2 million by 2030," Leahy writes. "For example, a record 680,000 migrants from Muslims countries were granted Green Cards from 2009 to 2013. Also, two million people from Muslim-majority countries were admitted to the United States since the jihad atrocity on 9/11, 2001."

According to Leahy, "In the immediate aftermath of the Paris attacks in which ISIS terrorists killed more than 120 innocent civilians, Welcoming America went into action, leading the way for the Christian 'non-profit' VOLAGs that live on the $1 billion a year Refugee Resettlement program.

As noted by Leahy, Welcoming America released November 18 the following statement:

This past week has been one of great loss, and all of us at Welcoming America are deeply saddened by the tragic events in Paris, Beirut, Nigeria, and other parts of the world. It is particularly at times of tragedy and fear -- when our values and resolve are most tested -- that we must redouble our efforts to live up to our ideals, including serving as a beacon of hope to the persecuted. We must demonstrate our welcoming character because This is Who We Are.

Families from Syria who are seeking a better life embody American values that have guided our country since its founding -- packing up everything and moving to a new place takes courage and resilience. They’ve defied all odds to arrive in a safe place, and we have the opportunity to reaffirm our values by responding with compassion. Moreover, communities are stronger when they are welcoming.

We are deeply heartened by declarations of welcoming toward Syrian refugees coming from all corners of the country, from community members to religious leaders to mayors and governors. These voices, largely emanating from local communities, have unfortunately not been fully heard by many in this country. At Welcoming America we will be working to elevate the voices of the compassionate majority, reminding America and the world that this is who we are.

To that effect, we have created a This is Who We Are page where we are compiling a list of statements and actions coming from communities is support of Syrian refugees, and we invite you to help us grow this list. If you have an inspiring quote or story of welcome, please share it with us.

"Democratic politicians — and the 'faith leaders' tied to VOLAGs and the $1 billion in funding -- quickly added their voices to the Welcoming America statement," Leahy writes.

Among the "three 'faith leaders,' all associated with VOLAGs," who "joined in as well, offering these statements of support for continuing to fund the $1 billion U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program" Leahy notes, is this from Leith Anderson, "President of the National Association of Evangelicals [corresponding VOLAG-World Relief]":

We are horrified and heartbroken by the terrorist atrocities in Paris, but must not forget that there are thousands more victims of these same terrorists who are fleeing Syria with their families and desperately need someplace to go

And yet, "despite the concerted PR efforts of Welcoming America, Democratic politicians, and 'faith leaders' associated with the VOLAGs," Leahy notes, "there is a growing variety of 'pockets of resistance' by normal Americans to this massive wave of Muslim migration."

Leahy concludes: "As more light is shed on the close connection between the Obama administration, George Soros, and the non-profit Christian VOLAGS, those 'pockets of resistance' are likely to become even more widespread."

Ted Cruz Calls Out Obama on "Refugees": Debate Me, "Insult Me to My Face"

By Rick Pearcey • November 19, 2015, 11:17 AM

CNN reports:

Ted Cruz challenged President Barack Obama on Wednesday to a debate on Syrian refugees and said that if the president is going to insult him, he should do it to his face.

"I would encourage you, Mr. President, if you want to insult me, come back and insult me to my face," Cruz said of Obama, who is in the Philippines.

"'Let's have a debate on Syrian refugees right now,' he added.

"'We can do it anywhere you want. I'd prefer it in the United States and not overseas where you're making the insults. It's easy to toss a cheap insult when no one can respond'."

Jordan King Contrasts to Obama: "Paris Attacks" Show ISIS Terror Respects No Borders

By Rick Pearcey • November 18, 2015, 02:21 PM

"The atrocious Paris attacks shows that [the] scourge of terrorism can strike anywhere and anytime," Jordan King Abdullah II said while visiting Kosovo, Breitbart reports.

In contrast to Barack Obama, who mocked Republicans who warn about terrorists disguised as refugees crossing borders, the king of Jordan said, "Groups such as Daesh (ISIS) expose themselves daily as savage outlaws of religion devoid of humanity respecting no laws and no boundaries."

Obama has castigated GOP candidates for U.S. president, saying they are "scared of widows and orphans."

King Abdullah said, "We must act fast and holistically to tackle and respond to the interconnected threats whether it is in this region, Africa, Asia, or in Europe," Breitbart reports.

"The atrocious Paris attacks shows that scourge of terrorism can strike anywhere and anytime," the Jordanian king said.

Release the Records: Ben Carson vs. Barack Obama, College Edition

By Rick Pearcey • November 9, 2015, 12:04 PM

Media outlets such as the Washington Post have opened to the door to the "demand that President Barack Obama release his Columbia University records immediately," Wayne Root writes. "How nice of them! Thank you!"

Root explains:

If the media thinks Dr. Carson's claims about his college experience 40 years ago are relevant, then clearly Obama's college claims are relevant too.

It's time for all of us to demand Obama release his Columbia college records. It's time for the media to scrutinize Obama the same way they are scrutinizing Ben Carson, Donald Trump, and every other GOP Presidential candidate.

"Dr. Carson's claims haven't cost taxpayers a dime," Root concludes. "But Obama's presidency has cost all of us dearly. If it was all built on a lie, on fraud, we have a right to know."

Smugglers Set Up Anti-U.S. Nuclear Jihad Armageddon

By Rick Pearcey • October 8, 2015, 11:10 AM

Robert Spencer writes at Frontpagemag.com:

"You can make a dirty bomb, which would be perfect for the Islamic State," an arms smuggler is quoted as saying to a potential buyer in Moldova in an Associated Press report published Wednesday. "If you have a connection with them, the business will go smoothly."

Arms smugglers, says the report, are specifically targeting Islamic jihad groups, principally but not solely the Islamic State, to sell them material for bombs -- including nuclear material.

One explained: "I really want an Islamic buyer because they will bomb the Americans."

This could be one aspect of Barack Obama's inhumane legacy: A mushroom cloud rising above American soil.

Exposing Black Lives Matter Movement for What It Is: Promotion of Cop Killing

By Rick Pearcey • September 2, 2015, 11:18 AM

Katie Pavlich writes at Townhall:

It's time to expose the Black Lives Matter [BLM] movement for what it is: a racist, violent hate group that promotes the execution of police officers.

The evidence is in their rhetoric and written on their shirts.

If you're against racism and murder, and in favor of a humane, free, and civil society, then fanatical groups like Black Lives Matter must renounce racism and cop-kiling -- or be shut down for fomenting violence.

Fortunatey, "two-thirds of the African American community flat-out reject BLM or strongly disagree with the movement's tactics," Pavlich writes.

Shame on rogue White House occupier Barack Obama for meeting with this group and shame on Barack Obama's Democrat Party for "affirming 'Black Lives Matter'."

Obama on Comparing GOP to Iranian Hardliners: "What I Said Is Absolutely True"

By Rick Pearcey • August 7, 2015, 02:18 PM

Pam Key reports at Breitbart.com:

CNN’s New Day on Friday highlighted a clip from President Barack Obama’s interview with Fareed Zakaria set to air in its entirety Sunday in which the president doubles down on his remarks from earlier in the week when he declared Iranian hardliners chanting "death to America" were "making commom cause" with Republicans.

"What I said is absolutely true factually. The truth of the matter is inside of Iran, the people most opposed to the deal are the Revolutionary Guard, the Quds Force, hardliners are opposed to any cooperation with the international community. The reason that Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and the rest of the folks in his caucus who oppose this -- jumped out and opposed it before they even read it, before it was even posted is reflective of an ideological commitment not to get a deal done. In that sense they have a lot in common with hardliners who are much more satisfied with the status quo," Obama said, according to Breitbart.

Cruz Defends Huckabee Against Barack Obama and Jeb Bush on Iran Nuke Deal

By Rick Pearcey • July 28, 2015, 11:45 AM

Todd Starnes reports at FoxNews.com:

President Obama and Jeb Bush have drawn the ire of Sen. Ted Cruz after they attacked Gov. Mike Huckabee for his comments about the Iran nuclear deal.

Huckabee said the president's Iran policy would "take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven."

"The president bristled at what he called a 'ridiculous' comment," Starnes writes. "The particular comments of Mr. Huckabee are just part of a general pattern we've seen that would be considered ridiculous if it weren't so sad," Obama said, according to Starnes.

Obama also expressed his displeasure with Sen. Ted Cruz. "We've had a sitting senator call John Kerry Pontius Pilate. We've had a sitting senator, who also happens to be running for president, suggest that I'm the leading state sponsor of terrorism. These are leaders in the Republican Party."

Cruz stood his ground and "rebuffed the president's slap," saying it was "particularly sad today that President Obama chose to engage in gutter politics -- attacking Mike Huckabee by name, attacking me -- both of us for standing up against this catastrophic deal -- rather than defending [his position on] the merits," Starnes reports.

"Cruz told me he 'emphatically' stands by Huckabee and his comments," Starnes writes.

Huckabee "is exactly right to highlight the threat that the Obama nuclear deal poses to the nation of Israel. It is a sad day when the president of the United States cannot or will not see this truth," Cruz said, according to Starnes.

In addition to Obama, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush also "lashed out at Huckabee's assessment of the Obama Administration's deal with Iran -- calling it 'just wrong'," Starnes writes.

"'I think we need to tone down the rhetoric, for sure,' Bush said at a campaign stop in Florida," according to Starnes. "The use of that kind of language is just wrong," Bush is quoted as saying.

Bush said, "This is not the way we're going to win elections, and that's not how we're going to solve problems," Starnes reports.

"Cruz took exception to Bush's attack on the former Arkansas governor," Starnes reports. This is "not a question of rhetoric," Cruz countered, according to Starnes. "It's a question of speaking the truth."

Far better, in Cruz's estimation, to "direct your fire to the real threats facing America -- including the threat of an Iran-led by radical theocratic zealots who chant 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel'," Cruz advised Bush, according to Starnes.

In a related development, Cruz has invited Obama to "debate the substance of the Iran deal . . . at any time and any place" of Obama's choosing. Perhaps Jeb Bush could help Obama prepare for such a debate.

"Let's do it in front of the American people any time in the next 60 days," Cruz said (see video).

Jindal on Hillary's Vision: "It Sounds Like Re-education Camps"

By Rick Pearcey • May 18, 2015, 01:08 PM

Craig Milward reports at CNSNews:

Republican Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal told Fox News' "America's News Headquarters" on Sunday that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton sounded like she was pushing for "re-education camps" when she said "deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed" on abortion.

"The reality is first of all you listen to her language -- 'our religious beliefs need to be changed.' It sounds like reeducation camps," CNS quotes Jindal as saying. Clinton "didn't say specifically how she wants us to change our beliefs. My religious beliefs aren't between me and Hillary Clinton. They're between me and God."

According to CNSNews, Jindal also assessed Clinton and the left's "dangerous view" on the meaning of religious expression.

"You hear Hillary Clinton, President Obama, when they say you've got freedom of religious expression," Jindal is quoted as saying.

"For them what that really means is you're allowed to go to church and say whatever you want for an hour or two a week. That doesn't mean you've got the real religious liberty rights our Founding Fathers intended. They intended we should be able to live our lives 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, according to our beliefs," Jindal said, according to CNS.

"Our Founding Fathers would never recognize what the left is trying to do," Jindal also said.

In contrast to the the founding ethos, the left is "trying to take God out of the public square. They're trying to make America a much more secular country. They're trying to make faith something that is private, circumscribed, something you've got to put into a corner," Jindal said, according to CNS.

"That's not the America our Founding Fathers would've recognized, not an America our parents would've recognized. It's not an America I hope our children recognize."

Jindal is correct, as should be clearly evident, for example, that the Declaration of Independence publicly actualizes the proposition that human beings are "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights."

This is public truth, not private religion.

The Judeo-Christian worldview has been and always will be publicly actionable. And thus it liberates from not just from privatized "faith" but also from inhumane worldviews which themselves seek self-actualization and war against human emancipation.

Elsewhere, I have noted the "reality orientation" that characterizes the Christian mindset and practice. In the Foreword to Nancy's new book, Finding Truth, I write:

Paul argued that argued that the events grounding the Christian worldview were not "done in a corner" (Acts 26:25–26). Shepherds, kings, doctors, and tax collectors could all check out the facts that are central to the Christian message.

What is being communicated is an accurate description of reality, not a belief system about it.

This reality orientation is the positive intellectual climate in which the core propositions and events of the gospel live and breathe. It is a mentality in which people are liberated by verifiable truth to challenge tradition, question power, and fight for life and healing against death and decay.

Despite this auspicious heritage, many of our contemporaries find solace in what Francis Schaeffer describes as an "escape from reason." They accept polite society’s dumbed-down redefinition of faith as something totally privatized -- that is, a commitment so private and so personal that evaluation and evidence are irrelevant.

This is a far cry from the holistic respect for information that characterizes a biblical worldview. Scripture nowhere encourages the notion that "faith" equals commitment quarantined from evidence or isolated from the mind -- the "will to avoid knowing what is true," as the philosopher Nietzsche put it his work The Antichrist.

Instead, the Biblical information challenges people to think more deeply about the basic questions of life, and in fact to "test everything" (1 Thess. 5:21).

In this regard, to carefully examine the basic notions of vocal secularists in our day -- be they a Hillary Clinton, a Barack Obama, a Richard Dawkins, or their disciples on Twitter, Facebook, in Hollywood, on campus, or on the evening news -- is to encounter ideologies that "undercut mind and reasoning, choice and freedom, truth and moral ideals.

"Inevitably, then," I further explain in the Foreword to Finding Truth, "people who place their trust in such solutions begin to order their lives in ways that are less than humane.

"Likewise, cultures in the grip of inadequate worldviews begin to actualize societies that are less than humane.

"Ideologues may advance their idols under politically correct banners of tolerance, diversity, and fairness, but the actual impact is regress, not progress, fragmentation, not wholeness. People are crushed.

"The human being necessarily revolts against gods that fail." This includes human beings who are citizens of the United States of America.

The Dictator: Will Obama Impose Tax Hikes by Imperial Decree?

By Rick Pearcey • March 4, 2015, 10:35 AM

"The White House press secretary has acknowledged that President Obama is indeed interested in using executive orders to raise taxes. The long national nightmare that is the Obama presidency gets worse," Investor's Business Daily states.

"America is a representative republic, not a banana republic. Ours is a system that's served better than any government in history," IBD observes.

"The steep price that generations of Americans have paid to establish and hold it is too high to let one president wreck it by continually stepping over his constitutional boundaries," IBD concludes.

ISIS: We Will Cut Off Obama's Head, Turn U.S. Into Caliphate

By Rick Pearcey • January 28, 2015, 11:11 AM

Drew MacKenzie reports at Newsmax:

In a sickening new video from the Islamic State (ISIS), the terror group has vowed to cut off President Barack Obama's head and turn the United States into a Muslim caliphate.

A black-clad extremist, with his face covered, is shown railing against America before beheading a captured Kurdish soldier kneeling in front of him.

Moments before carrying out the execution, the ISIS fighter warned, "Know, oh Obama, that we will reach America. Know also that we will cut off your head in the White House and transform America into a Muslim province."

"The video was revealed on The Middle East Media Research Institute TV Monitor Project (Memri TV), which translated it from Arabic and posted the footage on its website," MacKenzie reports.

What's the Greater Threat: ISIS Beheadings or Climate Change?

By Rick Pearcey • January 27, 2015, 08:30 AM

Anugrah Kumar reports at Christian Post:

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee took on President Obama's plans to fight climate change, saying that beheadings by the terror group ISIS is a "greater threat to an American than a sunburn."

"When he [President Obama] said the greatest threat this nation faces . . . I waited . . . and then he said . . . 'It's climate change,'" Huckabee, the potential 2016 presidential candidate, said at the Iowa Freedom Summit in Des Moines Saturday.

"Not to diminish anything about the climate at all," Huckabee is quoted as saying, "but Mr. President, I believe that most of us would think that a beheading is a far greater threat to an American than a sunburn. I wish he understood that we have a real enemy . . . Islamic jihadism."

Kevin Jackson: Race Relations "in the Toilet Since Obama Took Over"

By Rick Pearcey • November 27, 2014, 10:16 AM

"Father, author, and conservative talk-radio host Kevin Jackson, while in Ferguson, Mo., on Wednesday, said that Geroge Stephanopoulos' ABC News interview of police officer Darren Wilson was 'terrible journalism,' and added that 'race relations have gone in the toilet since Obama took over,' aided by the actions of Attorney General Eric Holder 'and his minions'," reports Michael Chapman at CNSNews.com.

"Everybody knows that race relations have gone in the toilet since Obama took over,” Jackson is quoted as saying. "In fact, when he did his first press conference over the Ferguson deal, he was talking about how race relations have come a long way. Yes, they had come a long way until he and Holder and the rest of his minions came along."

IRS Sued for Monitoring U.S. Churches

By Rick Pearcey • November 25, 2014, 10:19 AM

Bob Unruh reports at WND:

In a lawsuit settlement with the atheist Freedom from Religion Foundation [FFRF], the Internal Revenue Service admitted it had monitored churches for allegedly illegal political activity, but the details never were released because the group withdrew its complaint.

Now, Washington watchdog Judicial Watch has filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the IRS seeking any records relevant to IRS monitoring of churches and other tax exempt organizations regarding alleged political activity. . . .

"The atheist organization filed a lawsuit in 2012 alleging the IRS ignored its complaints about the speech of churches that cite the Bible regarding issues such as abortion and same-sex marriage," Unruh reports. FFRF said the "statements violate the law, because the moral issues were being addressed in a political arena."

According to WND, "The atheists also complained of what they called 'blatantly political' newspaper ads on the religious and moral issues. Then, in June, an agreement was reached in which the IRS admitted it had been monitoring churches and other houses of worship for 'electioneering and other political activity'."

"Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said Americans have 'the God-given right to both express their religious views and to engage in the political process'," WND reports.

"It is troubling that the IRS seems set to rely on a group of atheists to point them toward churches that might have criticized politicians," WND quotes Fitton as saying.

"It is even more disturbing that the IRS would violate federal law, The Freedom of Information Act, in order to keep secret its monitoring of Americans praying together in church," Fitton also reportedly said.

"To be clear, the very IRS that abused tea partiers for Obama’s election now purports to be able to 'audit' houses of worship in order to protect politicians from criticism. I am sure the Obama administration is more than happy to use the excuse of a lawsuit by a leftist group to use the IRS to punish churches that oppose Obama’s war on religious freedom," Fitton said, according to WND.

Sessions: We Must Stop Emperor Obama

By Rick Pearcey • November 21, 2014, 11:47 AM

What follows are portions of an editorial from Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama:

Americans defeated President Obama's disastrous amnesty plans both in Congress and at the voting booth. Tonight, President Obama defied an entire nation and declared that he will impose his rejected amnesty through the brute force of executive order.

President Obama's executive amnesty will provide an estimated 5 million illegal immigrants with the exact benefits Congress rejected, in violation of federal law. His order will grant them social security numbers, government-issued ID's, legal status and work permits. Illegal immigrants will now be able to take jobs and benefits directly from struggling Americans in a time of high unemployment and low wages. They will be able to take jobs from Americans in all occupations, ranging from truck drivers to power company workers to jobs with city government. Many illegal immigrants will also be able to obtain green cards and become permanent residents, allowing them access to almost all federal programs, to receive citizenship and sponsor foreign relatives to join them in the U.S. . . .

Only a short time ago, President Obama himself admitted this action would be illegal and unconstitutional: "I know some people want me to bypass Congress and change the laws on my own," he explained, adding "that's not how our democracy functions. That's not how our Constitution is written." President Obama also said that: "The problem is that I'm the president of the United States, I'm not the emperor of the United States. My job is to execute laws that are passed."

Apparently, America now has its first emperor. . . .

How should a free people respond to Emperor Obama's usurpation of power? "The great task before the nation now is to resist this imperial decree and return control of this nation to its own citizens -- as our Constitution established," the editorial states. "That task begins with Congress refusing to allow a dime of money to be spent executing this unlawful amnesty. This a routine, constitutional and crucial application of congressional power."

Here is Sen. Sessions' website.

Krauthammer: Obama Like Leader of "Banana Republic"

By Rick Pearcey • November 20, 2014, 09:12 AM

"Columnist Charles Krauthammer said that President Obama's planned executive order on immigration is comparable to the actions of a leader of a banana republic on Wednesday's 'Special Report' on the Fox News Channel," Breitbart reports

"The only rationale Obama is citing in doing this . . . is not lack of resources, it's not a crisis, it's not something new, as he said, the system is broken, it has been for decades. It is one thing and one thing alone: I waited long enough," Breitbart quotes Krauthammer as saying.

"That's what caudillo says in a banana republic: I waited long enough and the national assembly hasn't acted, so I'm going to issue a decree. That is not how it works in our system," Krauthammer said.

David Limbaugh: A Smoking Gun for Us "Stupid" American Voters

By Rick Pearcey • November 11, 2014, 10:08 AM

David Limbaugh writes in his most recent column:

Recently, a very disturbing video emerged that contains the metaphorical smoking gun concerning President Obama's many lies about Obamacare. This should remove any lingering doubt that we're dealing with a fascist-type administration.

Of course, there should be no need for a smoking gun, because it is now undeniable that Obama lied on his major selling points about the Affordable Care Act. Unlike many Democrats in falsely accusing President George W. Bush of lying about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, I don't use the term "lie" lightly. . . .

"The Daily Caller reports that in a newly surfaced video [watch the video here], Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber, an MIT professor, made some stunning admissions concerning how the administration presented the bill and how it overtly deceived the public because the bill never would have passed otherwise," Limbaugh continues.

Limbaugh then quotes Gruber:

This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure [the Congressional Budget Office] did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies. OK? So it's written to do that. In terms of risk-rated subsidies, if you had a law which said healthy people are going to pay in -- you made explicit that healthy people pay in and sick people get money -- it would not have passed.

. . . Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically, that was really, really critical to getting the thing to pass. . . . Look, I wish [health economist] Mark [Pauly] was right [that] we could make it all transparent, but I'd rather have this law than not.

Limbaugh next makes the following points:

They Lie: "You can see the mindset that these people have. There is no mistaking it. They know better than we 'stupid' American people what is good for us, so they'll do whatever is necessary, including purposely deceiving us, to advance their political agenda."

This Is Fascism: "This is the stuff of outright tyrants -- arrogant, unaccountable, cavalier despots. This is political fascism. This is not representative government. This type of behavior nullifies the Constitution and disenfranchises the American people."

This Is Obama: "It's one thing to have strong ideological views. It's altogether another to impose those views at any cost and in derogation of the people's rights. This is who this president is. These are the people he surrounds himself with.

"Obama and his team are not chastened, much less repentant, over the recent election results. They remain undeterred, and they intend to continue using whatever means they deem necessary, in their self-assessed superior wisdom, to accomplish their political ends, beginning with immigration."

No Excuses: "If you were unaware of or in denial about Obama's character and his willingness to deceive and act against the will of the American people before -- despite other smoking guns, such as those concerning his lies on the Benghazi, Libya, attacks -- you have no excuse now."

A Time for Resisting: "Two dangerous years remain in Obama's term. Even Democrats who might agree with many of Obama's remaining agenda items have a duty to oppose his further abuse of our system, including on immigration. But whether or not they step up, it is imperative that Republicans take a hard line against any such corrosive acts against the rule of law and our Constitution."

By Rick Pearcey • November 6, 2014, 10:11 AM

Sessions: "Mandate" to Block Executive Amnesty

By Rick Pearcey • November 5, 2014, 10:25 AM

Daniel Harper reports at Weekly Standard:

Senator Jeff Sessions, who [won] reelection last night in an uncontested race, says last night's Republican victory is a "mandate" to block President Obama's planned executive amnesty.

"[T]he American people dramatically repudiated the policies of President Obama, Senator Reid, and Leader Pelosi," the Weekly Standard quotes Sessions as saying. "It was also a dramatic affirmation of the policies our GOP candidates campaigned on: controlling spending, balancing the budget, repealing Obamacare, unleashing American energy, and boosting wages through pro-worker reforms."

Session also said, "Republicans in the House and Senate campaigned against the Obama-Senate immigration bill and on the pledge to block President Obama's unlawful executive amnesty. The immediate emergency facing our new majority will be fighting the President's disastrous planned actions, and we will have not only a Constitutional mandate but also a popular mandate to do so."

Sessions concludes: "The last six years of the Obama-Reid majority have been a government of the elites for the elites. Our new GOP Senators will lead the way in returning government to the loyal citizens who sent us here."

Sheriffs: Executive Amnesty Will Unleash Illegal "Tidal Wave"

By Rick Pearcey • November 4, 2014, 09:28 AM

"There is talk that President Barack Obama will push through an executive amnesty order after the midterm elections that would grant amnesty to at least some of the estimated 11 million illegal aliens currently living in the United States," Newsmax reports.

"We already have our hands full because the border is not secure," Sheriff Paul Babeu of Pinal County, Arizona, is quoted by Newsmax as saying. "Imagine what the situation will look like when the president gives executive amnesty to those already here. It would unleash a tidal wave of illegal border crossings, overwhelming law enforcement. It will be open season for the cartels."

"Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, said if the GOP takes control of the Senate in Tuesday's midterm election, the Republican-controlled chamber would fight hard to make sure amnesty 'doesn't happen'," Newsmax reports.

"That's the way people walk past guys who are trying to get a buck or a quarter from somebody," Schwartz quotes Matthews as saying last Monday on Hardball.

"It's like Obama has Ebola . . . I wasn't near him! I didn't touch him!," Matthews said.

Obamacare Sends Iowa Health Insurance Premiums Skyrocketing

By Rick Pearcey • October 10, 2014, 10:18 AM

Wynton Hall reports at Breitbart:

Thousands of Iowans are now facing double-digit health insurance premium hikes due to Obamacare.

On Wednesday, the Des Moines Register reported that the state's insurance commissioner has approved Des Moines-based Wellmark to hike its rates between 11.9% and 14.5%.

"President Barack Obama promised at least 19 times that Obamacare would lower health insurance premiums by $2,500 per family," Breitbart reports.

Secret Service or Animal House?

By Rick Pearcey • October 1, 2014, 10:51 AM

Well, as Investor's Busines Daily points out, "incompetence" is "running wild" at the once-proud but increasingly inept Secret Service, "which just let a knife-wielding intruder all the way into the East Room of the White House."

But the incompetence endeth not there. Almost anywhere you look, the federal government is flatly dysfunctional -- think of the IRS, Veterans Affairs, Benghazi, the Border Patrol, DOJ guns to Mexican drug cartels, an Obama "who seems routinely ill-informed."

"In his first inaugural address, Obama promised that 'those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account.' Maybe he'll get around to that after his 200th round of golf," IBD concludes.

Obama Skipping Nearly 60% of His Daily Intelligence Briefings

By Rick Pearcey • September 30, 2014, 09:53 AM

Wynton Hall reports at Breitbart.com:

A new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) report reveals that President Barack Obama has attended only 42.1% of his daily intelligence briefings (known officially as the Presidential Daily Brief, or PDB) in the 2,079 days of his presidency through September 29, 2014.

The GAI report also included a breakdown of Obama’s PDB attendance record between terms; he attended 42.4% of his PDBs in his first term and 41.3% in his second.

The GAI’s alarming findings come on the heels of Obama’s 60 Minutes comments on Sunday, wherein the president laid the blame for the Islamic State’s (ISIS) rapid rise squarely at the feet of his Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

"I think our head of the intelligence community, Jim Clapper, has acknowledged that I think they underestimated what had been taking place in Syria," Obama is quoted as saying.

"According to Daily Beast reporter Eli Lake, members of the Defense establishment were 'flabbergasted' by Obama’s attempt to shift blame," Breitbart reports.

"Either the president doesn’t read the intelligence he’s getting or he’s bulls-------," a former senior Pentagon official 'who worked closely on the threat posed by Sunni jihadists in Syria and Iraq' told the Daily Beast," according to Breitbart.com.

Black Residents of Chicago Slam Obama

By Rick Pearcey • July 15, 2014, 09:15 AM

"Black residents of Chicago’s South Side, who recently rallied to decry a spate of violence in the city, ripped President Obama for ignoring their plight while pushing for funding for illegal immigrants at their expense," the Washington Times reports.

Said one man, according to the Times, "For the president to set aside all of these funds for immigrants and [have] forsaken the African-American community, I think that’s a disgrace. . . . He will go down as the worst president ever elected. Bill Clinton was the African-American president."

Law Prof. Turley: Obama Risks Constitutional Crisis With Executive Action

By Rick Pearcey • July 1, 2014, 08:44 AM

Greg Richter reports at Newsmax:

President Barack Obama is acting like "a bad gambler at Vegas" by doubling down on executive actions less than a week after a stinging Supreme Court defeat, says George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley

A defiant Obama promised to take even more executive actions on Monday because Congress has told him it will not pass any immigration reform laws this year.

"If House Republicans are really concerned about me taking too many executive actions, the best solution to that is passing bills. Pass a bill. Solve a problem," Obama said in a Rose Garden press conference.

"Turley, appearing on Fox News Channel's Special Report, called that 'a pretty surprising statement' considering that 'the ink is barely dry' on Thursday's 9-0 decision saying Obama was wrong to have made recess appointments when the Senate had declared itself to be in session," Newsmax reports.

Bill Maher: Obama a "Drop-Dead Atheist"

By Rick Pearcey • June 25, 2014, 08:55 AM

Stoyan Zaimov reports at Christian Post:

HBO talk show host Bill Maher said in a Monday interview with the Daily Show's Jon Stewart that he does not find President Barack Obama's Christian faith to be genuine, arguing that he is really an atheist, and mocked former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's recent comments that the Bible is her biggest influence.

"You know who's a liar about this, is Obama," Maher said about the president's religion.

"Obama is always spouting spiritual [expletive] and I don't believe it for a second," he continued. "He's a drop-dead atheist, absolutely."

2007: Then-Sen. Obama Blasted Bush for "Deplorable Conditions" at VA

By Rick Pearcey • May 21, 2014, 08:27 AM

Jim Geraghty writes at National Review:

Then-Senator Barack Obama, November 12, 2007: "After seven years of an Administration that has stretched our military to the breaking point, ignored deplorable conditions at some VA hospitals, and neglected the planning and preparation necessary to care for our returning heroes, America’s veterans deserve a President who will fight for them not just when it’s easy or convenient, but every hour of every day for the next four years."

By 2012, Obama continued to compare the performance of the VA during his administration favorably to his predecessor, declaring, "For the first time ever, we’ve made military families and veterans a top priority not just at DOD, not just at the VA, but across the government."

But now in 2014, under Obama's watch, "we know the report of at least 40 U.S. veterans dying waiting for appointments at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care system is only the tip of the iceberg."

NYT Reporter: Obama Admin "Greatest Enemy of Press Freedom" in a Generation

By Rick Pearcey • March 25, 2014, 11:40 AM

Brendan Bordelon writes at the Daily Caller:

New York Times reporter James Risen called the Obama administration "the greatest enemy of press freedom that we have encountered in at least a generation" on Friday, explaining that the White House seeks to control the flow of information and those who refuse to play along "will be punished."

[Poynter.org] reports that Risen made the remarks while speaking at Sources and Secrets conference -- a meeting of journalism, communication and government professionals held in New York City. The foreign policy reporter, who is currently fighting a fierce court battle with the federal government over his protection of a confidential source, warned that press freedom is under serious attack in today’s America.

"In a speech kicking off the conference," the Daily Caller reports, "Risen claimed that the Obama administration wants to 'narrow the field of national security reporting' and 'create a path for accepted reporting.' Those who stray from that path, he cautioned, 'will be punished'."

Federalizing 4-Year-Olds: Human Freedom vs. the Theocracy of Secularism

By Rick Pearcey • March 12, 2014, 12:09 PM

Terry Jeffrey writes at CNSNews.com:

Will America be a better and freer country three decades from now if the children who turn four in this decade spend most of their waking hours with members of a government teachers union rather than with their moms?

President Barack Obama's vision of America, not surprisingly, starts with very young children spending their time in the custody of government employees.

"I believe we should start teaching our kids at the earliest ages," Obama said last week. When he used the word "we" here, Obama was not talking about Michelle and himself, he was talking about the government. When he used the words "our kids," he was not talking about his own children -- who attend the most expensive private school in Washington, D.C. -- he was talking about other people's children and grandchildren.

What Obama wants, quite literally, is their souls.

"So we're trying to help more states make high-quality preschool and other early learning programs available to the youngest kids," Obama went on, prosaically. The budget he presented to Congress was more concrete: It calls for $75 billion in federal spending over the next 10 years to support universal government "education" of 4-year-olds.

If you think Obama is satisfied with taking the 4-year-olds of America, think again.

"I think that there still needs to be great understanding of what the president has put on the table is really a birth-to-five proposal, recognizing that you can't start at 4-year-olds," Jeffrey quotes Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius as saying in April 2013 at the National Press Club.

"We really need to start at birth," Sebelius is also quoted as saying. "So, there will be an enhancement of home-visiting. . . ."

If I thought the secularist vision of life held intellectual weight, I would in all likelihood advocate similar policies, for what Obama & Co. are pushing is consistent with that vision's glorified view of the state and depressed view of the individual person, the family, and all else that might provide a check and balance on the governmental monopoly of power.

But the theocracy of secularism, which wars against the rules of freedom, lacks the intellectual and ethical resources to sustain human freedom and dignity. It is a conceptual and practical dead end.

Rather than submit to a metastasizing regime, it seems better that free-thinking Americans rise up, speak out, and throw out these totalitarian control freaks. It's called the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, the essence of being human, and liberating resistance in community with God and man.

FCC Targets Minority Owner of TV Stations

By Rick Pearcey • March 11, 2014, 08:12 AM

Phillip Swarts reports at the WTimes:

For years, the Federal Communications Commission [FCC] has allowed TV stations to execute joint operating agreements allowing themselves to outsource tasks such as advertising sales to group owners with more resources.

But when conservative columnist and entrepreneur Armstrong Williams recently purchased two stations, making him one of America’s few black owners of local TV affiliates, the commission unexpectedly decided to use his acquisition as a test case to review the practice.

"The actions -- coupled with other recent FCC decisions such as a plan to survey newsrooms that alarmed news media before it was withdrawn -- have injected questions about whether a commission set up by Congress to be nonpartisan is now acting with a political litmus test under the Obama administration," Swarts reports.

Convicted Terrorist Worked as Obamacare Navigator in Illinois

By Rick Pearcey • February 28, 2014, 09:32 AM

Jillian Kay Melchior writes at National Review:

A terrorist from Jordan briefly worked as an Obamacare navigator in Illinois while authorities remained unaware of her conviction for involvement in a deadly grocery store bombing and two other attacks.

Rasmieh Yousef Odeh was convicted in Israel for her role in several bombings, including the 1969 attack on an upscale Shufersol grocery store, which killed two Hebrew University students who had stopped in to buy groceries for a hiking trip in the Jerusalem hills. Leon Kanner and Eddie Joffe were killed by a bomb hidden in a candy box tucked on a shelf, which also injured nine or 10 others, according to a website maintained by the Israeli government to commemorate terror victims.

The Illinois Department of Insurance quietly revoked Odeh’s certification as a Navigator In-Person Counselor on November 24, explaining in a disciplinary report that the decision was "based on an investigation which revealed that she had been convicted in Israel for her role in the bombings of a supermarket and the British Consulate in Jerusalem and failed to reveal the conviction on her application."

One wonders what other terrorists, convicted or otherwise, are trolling in the shadows of Obamacare.

But let's not go overboard, here.

As long as Christians are forced to submit to homosexualist desires in Arizona, the motherland shouldn't experience too many speedbumps on the way to Obama's fundamentally transformed nation formerly known as America.

Eric Holder Asks State Attorneys General to Ignore Law

By Rick Pearcey • February 27, 2014, 11:26 AM

From Investor's Business Daily:

Attorney General Eric Holder wants his counterparts at the state level to treat the rule of law with the same contempt and selectivity that he and his boss in the White House employ.

'We the people" and "consent of the governed" are important American concepts that Holder and his boss, President Obama, do not understand. They've made it clear by spreading their creeping lawlessness among the attorneys general of the 50 states.

We acknowledge the doctrine of prosecutorial discretion, which provides those charged with enforcing our laws in the courts with the authority to decide which particular cases merit pursuing.

However, this power does not extend to deciding which laws passed by the duly elected representatives of the people may be enforced.

Schlafly: America Must Stop "Dictatorial Obama"

By Rick Pearcey • February 18, 2014, 08:58 AM

Greg Corombos reports at WND:

The woman who vanquished the Equal Rights Amendment more than a generation ago is now focused on stopping what she considers amnesty for people in the country illegally, who will never vote Republican and often don’t respect America’s founding principles.

Eagle Forum Founder Phyllis Schlafly is also disgusted by the recent spate of federal judges striking down voter-approved laws and state constitutional amendments that define marriage only as the union of one man and one woman.

She told Radio America that the American people must "stop this dictatorial attitude of Obama" and the judges "who think they can do anything they want."

Of Course He Should Be Impeached

By Rick Pearcey • February 17, 2014, 09:30 AM

David Catron writes at American Spectator

The people we send to Congress have traditionally been very jealous of their power, and there was a time when they would have been considerably less supine in their dealings with such a power-mad president.

The House has impeached two presidents and seriously considered impeaching a third. There may not be enough votes in the Senate to convict Obama, but there are certainly enough Republicans in the House to pass articles of impeachment.

Their inaction is not about votes. It’s about cowardice. The GOP is more concerned about its short-term political prospects than the long-term good of the Republic.

Sadly, there is a precedent for this and where it leads. The Roman Emperor Tiberius once alluded to it with the following remark concerning the self-seeking and moral cowardice that had allowed Rome’s once-powerful Senate to be emasculated: "Those men are fit to be slaves."

If our elected representatives in Congress don’t do something about Obama, they will be regarded by posterity with equal scorn.

Obama "Year of Action Figure": Constitution Not Included

By Rick Pearcey • January 29, 2014, 08:49 AM

Amy Payne writes at The Foundry:

President Obama says this is a "year of action" -- and last night he made it very clear whose action he was talking about.

After noting recently that he has a pen and a phone and can use those to make changes without the help of Congress, Obama charged forward with promises of taking executive action wherever lawmakers fail to meet his demands.

In this cartoon, an Obama "Year of Action Figure" "comes with pen and phone" but "Constitution Not Included."

U.S. No Longer Leads World in "Politics and Morality": Lech Walesa

By Rick Pearcey • January 2, 2014, 12:33 PM

"Former Polish President Lech Walesa says America no longer leads the world "in terms of politics and morality," Rebecca Shabad reports at The Hill:

"Walesa, in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, spoke negatively about President Obama’s leadership skills," according to Shabad.

"When he was elected, there was great hope in the world. We were hoping that Obama would reclaim moral leadership for America, but that failed. America does not lead the world in the area of morality," Walesa is quoted as saying.

Walesa is a "Nobel Prize winner" and "served as president of Poland in the 1990s," when he "led the Solidarity movement that helped end the Soviet Union's grip on Eastern Europe," Shabad explains.

The former president of Poland "acknowledged the United States military remains the world's top power but argued the U.S. economy is getting weaker," Shabad reports.

"'America did not regain its leadership status,' [Walesa] said, adding that the world is lucky there were no major conflicts because otherwise it would be helpless," according to The Hill. "It’s a dangerous situation in the long run, Walesa said. 'We are awaiting a president who will understand that'."

Over at American Thinker, Rick Moran comments on America's place in today's world: "Where we aren't getting kicked out, we're retreating. No one fears us, no one trusts us. No one much likes us. The thugs of the world rejoice that President Obama is in office, while our former allies try to make sense of our policies.

"Walesa is right," Moran concludes. "If, as some speculate, a major war is on the horizon, God help us all."

Vanderbilt Prof: "Black People Have Been Deceived"

By Rick Pearcey • December 2, 2013, 11:30 AM

Ginni Thomas writes at the Daily Caller about Dr. Carol M. Swain, professor of law and professor of political science at Vanderbilt Law School:

"As a black person, it bothers me that the America I know and love I feel like is being destroyed by a black man. I don’t understand why,” she said, discussing her serious concerns about President Obama’s legacy in an interview with The Daily Caller.

"It bothers me that so many black people have been deceived into supporting programs and policies that are killing them,” she continued.

She worries most about Obama’s governance and how it erodes constitutional freedoms.

"I value my free speech. You know, I take that clause [of the Constitution] very seriously," Swain said. "And, what I see in America right now is our freedom of speech, our freedom of religion, freedom of association -- all of that being totally eroded.

"And when I look at the Fourth Amendment about the search and seizure, I see we have no protection. We are living an Orwellian experience where we are almost under 24-hour surveillance. We never know when we are having a private conversation."

According to Thomas, Prof. Swain "credits American exceptionalism and God’s hand for her rise from a family of 12 children that was born in rural poverty in southwest Virginia.

"But now, Swain now thinks 'we have all of these forces pulling us away from faith to secularism'."

National Journal: Obama's Image Machine

By Rick Pearcey • November 22, 2013, 08:38 AM

In an article titled "Obama's Image Machine: Monopolistic Propaganda Funded by You," Ron Fournier writes at National Journal:

"As surely as if they were placing a hand over a journalist's camera lens, officials in this administration are blocking the public from having an independent view of important functions of the Executive Branch of government," reads a letter delivered today to Carney by the WHCA and several member news organizations including The Associated Press and The New York Times.

The letter includes examples of important news events that were not covered by media photographers, and yet pictures were taken by the White House image team and widely distributed via social media. This happens almost daily.

Unlike media photographers, official White House photographers are paid by taxpayers and report to the president. Their job is to make Obama look good. They are propagandists -- in the purest sense of the word.

"Journalists understand that the president's family and national security events must be off-limits at times," Fournier writes. "Journalists also don't object to the White House using social media; those are platforms as legitimate as televisions and print. The problem is that the Obama White House is simultaneously restricting access of independent media while flooding the public with state-run media."

The point, again: "This is propaganda -- utterly lacking a skeptical eye."

Obamas Trash America to Save Obamacare

By Rick Pearcey • November 21, 2013, 08:45 AM

At Investor's Business Daily:

As support for Obamacare collapses, Barack and Michelle have been deploying increasingly harsh language to attack the current system. So much so that they're now trashing the very character of the country.

In regard to collapsing support, "A fascinating number in Wednesday's CBS poll is that only 7% of the American public want Obamacare 'kept in place'," writes John Nolte at Breitbart.com.

Obama Removes "Under God" From Lincoln's Gettysburg Address

By Rick Pearcey • November 19, 2013, 12:27 PM

Larry O'Conner writes at Breitbart.com:

Washington DC talk show host Chris Plante reported today that Barack Obama omitted the words "under God" from the Gettysburg Address when reciting the great speech for a Ken Burns documentary.

Burns had filmed all living presidents as well as various Hollywood personalities and luminaries to pay homage to the speech which was delivered by Abraham Lincoln 150 years ago, today.

Plante broke the story on Washington DC talk radio station WMAL on his mid-morning program, "The Chris Plante Show."

As WMAL reports:"Curiously, however, in his version of the address, President Obama omitted the words 'under God'."

This all-important language "under God" -- recognizing the reality that human freedom has its center of gravity in the Creator (see the Declaration of Independence) and not in the state, and thereby protecting "We, the People" from the dictators and tyrannies of human history -- occurs in the following sentence of the unmanipulated Gettysburg Address: "That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom."

Here is a YouTube video of Obama's misreading of Lincoln's Gettysburg address. His omission occurs at the 1:34 mark).

If one's goal is to "fundamentally transform" America, one sure way to do so is to remove the foundation of America. A house of freedom lacking the foundation of freedom cannot stand.

Extremism can be packaged in many ways. Today's radicals may be hoping that a suit and tie amid the trusted trappings of the U.S. presidency will do the trick. Critical thinking on behalf of sales resistance, intelligence, and freedom -- "under God" -- revolts.

After Apology, Obama Vows "Push Back" Against Healthcare Critics

By Rick Pearcey • November 15, 2013, 11:20 AM

Wynton Hall reports at Breitbart.com:

Hours after President Barack Obama declared in a Thursday White House press conference that he "fumbled the roll out on this health care law" and said "that's on me," Obama delivered a defiant speech at a Cleveland plant wherein he vowed to "push back" against the swelling chorus of Americans opposed to Obamacare.

"We are not going to gut this law," said Obama. "And those who say they're opposed to it and can't offer a solution, we'll push back!"

Obama added: "Our politics get screwed up sometimes. Websites don't work sometimes. But we just keep going."

The President's strident tone represented a striking contrast to his press conference statements uttered shortly before his Cleveland remarks.

"A new Quinnipiac poll finds that Obama's job approval rating has plunged to its "lowest point ever," as just 39% of Americans now approve of the job he is doing," Breitbart.com reports.

Think Obamacare Is Bad Now? It Gets Worse Next Year

By Rick Pearcey • November 13, 2013, 09:11 AM

Betsy McCaughey writes at IBD:

The President claims that people losing their health plans and having to sign up on the exchanges will be getting a better deal.

Losing your doctor, shopping blind for a health plan, settling for Medicaid-level care and government controls, all for a premium 41% higher than before and with a deductible that's doubled?

Sounds substandard to me.

Right now, most people getting cancellations bought plans in the individual market.

Wait until the other shoe drops in 2014, and millions of people who had on-the-job coverage lose it

The truth about Obamacare will become so painfully obvious that even the White House lie machine can't cover it up.

Obamacare's Alligator "Navigators"

By Rick Pearcey • November 12, 2013, 12:35 PM

Over at National Review, John Fund writes about new work from videographer James O’Keefe, whose reporting reveals a swampland of "corruption at the heart" of Obamacare, the "president's signature program." Fund writes:

James O’Keefe, the guerrilla videographer who helped bring down ACORN (the "community organizing" group that Barack Obama worked for as a lawyer and trainer) and got NPR’s president fired, is back.

This time, his undercover investigators focused on Obamacare’s "navigators," the nearly 50,000 people who, in the words of the Department of Health and Human Services, "will serve as an in-person resource for Americans who want additional assistance in shopping for and enrolling in plans" on the Obamacare exchanges (at least when they’re finally working).

The total value of grants doled out for nonprofits and community organizations to hire navigators has topped $67 million nationwide, and some of the money is going to a group run by ACORN’s highly controversial founder

That "additional assistance" offered by navigators includes advising "clients on how to lie." Fund continues:

The events of O’Keefe’s video of a Texas navigator site run by the National Urban League are a familiar sight to viewers of his past efforts exposing Medicaid and voter fraud. Government-paid workers supposedly trained to uphold the law advise clients on how to lie on government forms, evade legal requirements, and ignore proper procedures.

"You lie because your premiums will be higher," one navigator advises an investigator for O’Keefe’s Project Veritas, who tells the worker he sometimes smokes. "Don’t tell them that. Don’t tell ’em."

Then there is the problem of a "nationwide nonprofit," "non-political" organization called Enroll America, nevertheless described as the "official group" for the Democratic National Committee. Enroll America "appears to be sharing data and working directly with Battleground Texas," whose goal is "turning Texas blue." Fund writes:

O’Keefe’s cameras then visit Enroll America, a nationwide nonprofit group that has launched a multi-state grassroots campaign to help millions of Americans sign up for health coverage.

Daniel Clayton of Enroll America says the group is "purely nonprofit. It’s not partisan, non-political." But when Brian Pendleton of Enroll America is introduced at a speaking engagement, Enroll America is described as "the official group for the DNC [Democratic National Committee]."

Enroll America, O’Keefe reports, appears to be sharing data and working directly with an explicitly political group called Battleground Texas, activities that he notes “are prohibited unless certain conditions are met."

Adrian Bell, the regional field director for Battleground Texas, proudly notes the group was "started by President Obama’s national field director" and is "dedicated to turning Texas blue."

"There’s much more in the video, which O’Keefe hints will not be his last," Fund notes. But "left unexplored is how so many navigators nationwide were hired without any background checks required." This lack of criminal background checks is, by itself, a recipe for disaster, a clearly rotten fruit indicative of bad, if not to say rotten, government.

"While Texas and some other states have passed requirements of their own, the absence of such checks at the federal level was acknowledged by HHS secretary Kathleen Sebelius last week," Fund writes.

Sebelius "was asked by Texas senator John Cornyn if 'a convicted felon could be a navigator and could acquire sensitive personal information from an individual unbeknownst to them.'

"'It’s possible,' was Secretary Sebelius’s less-than-comforting reply," Fund writes.

It's possible? Can there be any doubt, America, that there are who knows how many alligators among the 50,000 navigators inhabiting the Obamacare swamplands?

The Obama administration isn't just reducing American citizens to the status of dependent subjects. It's as if a free people is being reduced to food, reduced to fodder for an imperious, ravenous ideology -- at the mercy of felons, convicted or otherwise, elected or otherwise. Imagine, "We the People" as lunch for the cavernous jaws of Washington elites.

Criminal Terror Charges Filed Against Obama

By Rick Pearcey • November 11, 2013, 09:07 PM

Jerome Corsi reports at WND:

Several prominent media sources in Egypt are now reporting that Egyptian lawyers have filed criminal terrorism charges in the International Criminal Court against President Obama in addition to the criminal terrorism charges previously filed in Egyptian courts against the president’s half-brother Malik Obama.

Malik Obama is quickly becoming a person of interest in Egypt for his alleged management of funds for a terrorist organization based in neighboring Sudan. A group of Egyptian lawyers, meanwhile have charged President Obama with crimes against humanity for his support of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

The charges come as the criminal trial against former Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi is scheduled to begin in Egypt in January 2014. Morsi facing charges that he supported the Muslim Brotherhood in acts of violence directed against the Egyptian people.

"President Obama is likely to be a subject in Morsi’s criminal trial because of evidence the Obama administration used the U.S. Embassy in Cairo to provide direct financial support to key Muslim Brotherhood political operatives, with the full knowledge and complicity of the Morsi government, as WND was first to report in August," Corsi reports.

The Carcinogenic War on Women

By Nancy Pearcey • November 6, 2013, 10:48 AM

Dorinda C. Bordlee and Nikolas T. Nikas write at National Review's The Corner:

In the early days of the HHS mandate forcing even religious objectors to provide free coverage for contraceptive and abortion-inducing drugs, our NRO post titled "Three Things Everyone Should Know About the HHS Mandate" pointed to evidence establishing that the mandated contraceptive drugs are carcinogenic.

And now, the most prestigious federal appeals court has taken judicial notice of this fact as well.

Citing Bioethics Defense Fund's amicus brief, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia is the first court to recognize that the World Health Organization classifies certain contraceptives required by the HHS mandate as carcinogenic.

This completely underminds the government's claims that the drugs "promote women's health" and must therefore be provided by all employers, regardless of religious objection.

"The Obama administration has shown a shocking lack of respect for women’s health and their rights to full disclosure of serious medical risks," The Corner concludes. "The D.C. Circuit’s recognition of the carcinogenic classification of the mandated drugs suggests that the real war on women is not being waged by those who oppose the mandate, but rather by those who are coercively imposing it."

Barack Obama Lies Like a Marxist

By Rick Pearcey • November 6, 2013, 10:30 AM

Editor in Chief of CNSNews.com Terry Jeffrey writes:

A week after he signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama went on a road trip to Portland, Maine, to boast and prevaricate about what he had just done.

"So now that this bill is finally law and all the folks who have been playing politics will finally have to confront the reality of what this reform is, they're also going to have to confront the reality of what it isn't," said Obama, introducing a lie that has gotten belated, but much-deserved, attention in recent days.

"They'll have to finally acknowledge that this isn't a government takeover of our health care system," he said.

"They'll see that if Americans like their doctor, they will keep their doctor. And if you like your insurance plan, you will keep it. No one will be able to take that away from you. It hasn't happened yet. It won't happen in the future."

"Anyone who actually read the law, or even just a small part of it," Jeffrey counters, "would have known this was untrue."

By way of contrast, "in his first press conference as president in 1981, Ronald Reagan, who would lead the West to victory in the Cold War, startled the liberal press when he accurately described the mendacity of the leaders of the Soviet Union, who were seeking a 'one-world socialist or communist state'," Jeffrey continues.

The Soviets "have openly and publicly declared that the only morality they recognize is what will further their cause," Jeffrey quotes Reagan as stating, "meaning they reserve unto themselves the right to commit any crime, to lie, to cheat, in order to attain that, and that is moral, not immoral . . . . We operate on a different set of standards."

"Not anymore," Jeffrey concludes.

Dangerous Times: Obama, the Crisis Monger

By Rick Pearcey • October 5, 2013, 09:54 AM

James Lewis writes at American Thinker:

Obama thrives on crises, not solutions. That's the key to this whole administration.

The budget crisis today is the direct result of five years of over-the-top deficit spending, all demanded by Obama, who doesn't really care if the economy gets better or not.

Either way, he will blame the Republicans, with the unanimous support of our Soviet-style media.

He believes that politically he can't lose with a completely obedient media spinning everything his way.

As long as Americans are suckered by our monopoly media, we will never solve any real problems.

Instead, we will be drawn into phony crises instigated by Obama and the Democrats. Any real dangers, like nuclear proliferation and the Jihad War, will be ignored as long as Democrats are in power.

The only permanent solution is to fire the mendacious media, and that is up to you.

"You never want a serious crisis to go to waste," said Rahm Emanuel when he was chief of staff for president-elect Obama in 2008. "What I mean by that is it's an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before."

The Daily Caller has the story:

Far from being a mistype, that’s the official number that Health and Human Services wants Americans to dial when seeking health care.

Obamacare’s national call center really did list its number as 1-800-318-2596, helpfully spelling out President Barack Obama’s tendency to blatantly flip the bird in plain view.

To the Barrycades! Obama Overplays His Shutdown Hand

By Rick Pearcey • October 3, 2013, 10:51 AM

At Investor's Business Daily:

The Obama administration's decision to barricade the open-air and otherwise unguarded World War II memorial is just the latest sign that the president will do anything to get his way. Is the public finally getting wise?

Anyone who's ever visited Washington, D.C., knows that while the National Mall is technically a federally owned park, it can't be closed. There are no fences around its 309 acres. No entrances. No guard posts. Just wide open spaces dotted with monuments and museums. There's the Washington Monument, which requires a guide to get to the top. But that's closed for repairs.

So the administration decided instead to put barricades around various other popular open-air Mall monuments to score political points in the budget shutdown standoff. That required, in turn, posting freshly printed signs explaining why they're off limits, and a police presence to guard the barricades.

"This isn't the first time Obama has purposefully hurt Americans to gain leverage in a political fight," notes IBD.

"During the sequester battle earlier this year, he warned that the flyspeck budget cuts would force the administration to lay off flight controllers and border agents, turn criminals loose and deny families child care. It would, Obama said, be 'a huge blow to middle-class families.' To drive the point home, he canceled White House tours."

Shutting Down Obama Is Not Shutting Down Government

By Rick Pearcey • September 19, 2013, 12:12 PM

. . . "It's shutting down authoritarian anarchy that pretends constitutionalism," I wrote yesterday.

But "you can't have anarchy and authoritarianism in a government at the same time," asserts a Facebook friend.

Is that so? Consider:

Obama's authoritarianism is expressed in his rejection of the rules of freedom (e.g., Declaration of Independence, where the center of gravity for human freedom is the Creator, not the state) and relies ultimately on raw power to impose his vision upon Americans (e.g., financial penalties, unending regulation, police, military, domestic spying, and so on).

It is anarchy because behind the mere form of governance is mob rule, czarist rule, unaccountable rule, a kind of lawlessness under the thumb of whoever happens to be occupying the White House.

Anarchy can be expressed not just in social chaos and the absence of form, but also in the authoritarianism of the mob and of the absolutized individual, while maintaining the pretense of form.

A 60s-style Hippie can be utterly authoritarian.

Dear Barack: Here's Why I Don't Wish You Well

By Rick Pearcey • August 27, 2013, 09:31 AM

Mychal Massie writes:

This is intended to be an open letter to you, Barack Obama.

I will dispense with the usual salutatory "Dear Mr. blah blah" because to address you as same would mean that I accept you as my president, which I cannot and do not.

I know my words will offend those for whom the color of your skin means more than the quality of your job performance, but I place a high premium on the performance of the man who occupies the position you do -- a performance that ought to be based on leadership, loyalty to America, and adherence to the Constitution of the United States.

I view you, in the absence of any of those qualities, as a seat-holder for an American leader who embodies those qualities and who has respect for We the People of this great nation, which you are doing your best to defile.

Sen. Coburn: Obama "Perilously Close" to Impeachment

By Rick Pearcey • August 23, 2013, 09:24 AM

Cathy Burke reports at Newsmax:

President Obama is moving "perilously close" to impeachment, Sen. Tom Coburn told a town hall crowd this week, two reports said Thursday. . . .

Coburn repeatedly called the president's administration "lawless," telling the crowd of 300 at the Muskogee Convention Center there should be a national constitutional convention to counter it -- and to cut down an oversized federal government, the Tulsa World reported.

"I used to have a great fear of constitutional conventions," he said. "I have a great fear now of not having one."

No Domestic Spying Program? Did Obama Lie to Leno?

By Rick Pearcey • August 8, 2013, 10:19 AM

David Seaman writes at the Daily Caller:

President Obama did a face to face interview with comedian Jay Leno on the "The Tonight Show," because our commander in chief wouldn’t dare give such access to, say, anyone remotely resembling a journalist at this point. Too many of those "phony scandals" to wade through.

Obama offered a fantastic fireworks display of dishonesty and Orwellian doublespeak to Leno’s 4 million or so viewers at home.

"We don’t have a domestic spying program," Obama assured Leno. What we have, instead, are "mechanisms that can track a phone number or an e-mail address that is connected to a terrorist attack . . . That information is useful."

Which is the very definition of a domestic spying program: obtaining American citizens’ phone records and one-click access to emails, Facebook messages, and all Web history without a specific warrant. And then sharing that data with domestic law enforcement agencies, in a secretive agreement Reuters claims the government is now actively trying to cover up.

Ho Chi Minh, Obama’s Freedom Fighter

By Rick Pearcey • August 7, 2013, 02:23 PM

Paul Kengor writes at American Spectator:

All I wanted to do last week was enjoy my vacation. Instead, I was assaulted by another breathtaking statement from the president of the United States, provided courtesy of an official White House press release. The occasion was a July 25 meeting between President Obama and the leader of communist Vietnam. Obama stated: "President Sang shared with me a copy of a letter sent by Ho Chi Minh to Harry Truman. And we discussed the fact that Ho Chi Minh was actually inspired by the U.S. Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and the words of Thomas Jefferson."

This, of course, is utter nonsense. Ho Chi Minh was a committed Marxist-Leninist revolutionary who cut his teeth at Moscow’s Lenin School. He became one of the Soviet Comintern’s most successful agents. Among the testimonies to his efforts are the countless boat people from Vietnam who now live in America (many of whom voted for Obama).

"But not only is Obama’s statement nonsense," Kengor writes, "it’s also the product of communist propaganda." For example:

In 2010, I published a book called Dupes: How America’s Adversaries Have Manipulated Progressives for a Century. There, I shared numerous lines cooked up by Communist Party USA (CPUSA) to dupe liberals. One of them was precisely the line Obama echoed on July 25. CPUSA and its mouthpieces regularly compared Ho Chi Minh to the American Founders, claiming he was fighting for the ideas not of the Bolshevik Revolution but of the American Revolution. This line was employed constantly, and it worked magically with wide-eyed liberals. . . .

"Phony Scandals"? No, Phony Investigations

By Rick Pearcey • July 30, 2013, 10:31 AM

Bosch Fawstin writes at Frontpagemag.com:

"Phony scandals," Mr. President? No, your scandals are as real as can be, it’s the GOP’s investigations into them that are phony.

Speaker of the House John Boehner has refused to appoint a special prosecutor to the Benghazi massacre investigation. Why? Because he made a deal with Obama? Because he simply doesn’t give a d---? Whatever the reason, he’s obstructing the ability to get to the bottom of it once and for all.

When the IRS scandal hit, Boehner came out to the media and burped out, "Who’s going to jail?" He’s done nothing to answer his own question. . . .

Not only do we have the most lawless administration in American history at this moment in time, but we have the most gutless opposition a party in power has ever had. The only way we can get to the bottom of these scandals is if the next midterms replace the current Republican leadership with those who understand what’s at stake and who are willing to fight the b------- in both parties, tooth and nail. No more phony leadership.

IRS: Obamacare for Thee but Not for Me

By Rick Pearcey • July 29, 2013, 09:42 AM

David Carton writes at American Spectator:

Among the most offensive features of the ironically titled "Affordable Care Act" is its designation of the Internal Revenue Service as the main enforcer of the law’s many mandates, taxes, penalties, and reporting requirements.

It exponentially increases the power of a group of bureaucrats notorious for repeatedly abusing their authority.

Now, . . . these IRS enforcers are asking their congressional representatives to spare them the indignity of enrolling in Obamacare’s insurance exchanges.

Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State

By Rick Pearcey • July 23, 2013, 10:31 AM

"Democrats and Republicans largely heaped praise upon Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano after she announced she would resign her post later in the year, but a longtime constitutional attorney says there is not much to applaud -- especially for anyone concerned about preserving freedom and limiting government intrusion in their lives," reports WND.

"What the Department of Homeland Security became under Janet Napolitano is this monstrous surveillance and very intimidating group," said John Whitehead of the Rutherford Institute, according to WND. Whitehead, who was appearing on Radio America, is the author of A Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State, which was published last month. Whitehead noted that he "criticized George Bush’s policies" but that "under President Obama, we’re zooming."

An example of this zooming, according to Whitehead, is a Homeland Security program called Operation Vigilant Eagle. Whitehead described Vigilant Eagle as a surveillance program conducted "on all returning veterans from overseas" and that it includes watching "Facebook posts, text messages," and "emails of returning veterans to see if they’re going to be disgruntled."

Whitehead said his group helped one such veteran file a "major lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security." According to Whitehead's description of the events leading up to the lawsuit, DHS agents showed up at the veteran's door, "arrested him," and "put him in a mental institution for his Facebook posts criticizing the government. We got him out, and then we sued the government."

WND also reports that "another outrage, according to Whitehead, is the harassment of Americans living on or somewhat near our national borders with Mexico and Canada. He said law-abiding citizens have been forced to hand over their laptops while the government officials download the information."

Also of great concern is the use of border drones against Americans. These drones "are flying inland, photographing, and watching what American citizens are doing" and providing "surveillance on American towns," Whitehead said. Drones coming in 2015 will have "scanning devices, rubber bullets, sound cannons," Whitehead reportedly said. "They can look through the walls of your home. They’re just going to bypass the Fourth Amendment, and they already are doing that."

Whitehead also "said that sort of activity will only get more common and more intrusive until the American people stand up and refuse to accept what he considers a major infringement on our constitutional liberties," WND reports.

Obama Honors Trayvon Martin, Ignores Fort Hood Killed

By Rick Pearcey • July 18, 2013, 09:25 AM

At Investor's Business Daily:

The jury has been selected and the trial date set for the jihadist accused of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 of attempted premeditated murder acting, as he says, in defense of the Taliban.

Army Sgt. Alonzo Lunsford has not received a phone call from Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson. . . .

Thirteen people, including a pregnant soldier, were killed and 32 others shot Nov. 5, 2009, at the Killeen facility during Hasan's rampage against soldiers being processed for deployment to Afghanistan. Hasan has said he did it in defense of the Taliban, a self-admitted act of terrorism on behalf of a foreign entity. . . .

Meanwhile, "Attorney General Eric Holder has refrained from filing terrorism charges in the case and is currently busy in Florida announcing his intent to find George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman found innocent of murdering Trayvon Martin, guilty of something, anything, to satisfy the racial grievance industry," notes IBD.

"Not only am I disappointed (in Holder), I'm embarrassed. Mr. Holder needs to understand the repercussions of his actions," Sgt. Lunsford is quoted as saying.

"Lunsford also expressed outrage at the fact that some victims are financially struggling, but that because of the categorization of the shooting as a 'workplace shooting,' he and those other victims are not entitled to combat-related benefits they would have received had they been injured overseas," IBD observes. "Meanwhile," however, "Hasan has continued to receive paychecks over the past four years, amounting to $287,000."

Kimberly Munley is "one of two police officers who confronted Hasan when he opened fire," IBD continues. Munley "sat next to first lady Michelle Obama at the 2010 State of the Union address" and "now says 'betrayed is a good word' to describe her feelings after being laid off from her job with the base's civilian police force."

"Not to the least little bit have the victims been taken care of," she is quoted as saying. "In fact, they've been neglected."

"President Obama said that if he had a son he'd look like Trayvon Martin and that to honor him we must surrender our Second Amendment right of self-defense against the assault Martin committed," states IBD. "Well, if he had a son, he might also look like Alonzo Lunsford, who proudly wears his uniform in court, unlike Maj. Hasan, who refused."

How might Obama honor "Lunsford as well as the other survivors and the dead of Fort Hood"?

"The commander in chief should end this 'workplace violence' charade and publicly declare it an act of terrorism (kinda like Benghazi) so they can get the benefits they deserve," IBD recommends. "And be there when Nidal Hasan is executed for his crimes."

Obama Orders Federal Workers to Spy on Each Other

By Rick Pearcey • July 10, 2013, 11:50 AM

John Hayward writes at Human Events:

If our fat, bumbling, economy-crushing colossus of a central government has seemed particularly ineffectual over the past year, it’s because the federal worker bees have all been ordered to spy on each other, and it’s probably very time-consuming.

McClatchy News takes a look at President Obama’s amazing Insider Threats Program, "an unprecedented government-wide crackdown under which millions of federal bureaucrats and contractors must watch out for 'high-risk persons or behaviors' among co-workers." And they might be looking at criminal penalties if they don’t file timely spy reports. . . .

Obama Toasts Failed African Socialist

By Rick Pearcey • July 2, 2013, 09:26 AM

Neil Munro reports at the Daily Caller:

President Barack Obama toasted the founding dictator of post-colonial Tanzania on Monday, who collectivized the nation’s low-tech agricultural sector, established a one-party state and left that African nation’s economy in ruins.

"[Y]ou might say an American child is my child. We might say a Tanzanian child is my child," Obama said after quoting the Tanzanian saying "my neighbor’s child is my child."

"In this way, both of our nations will be looking after all of our children and we’ll be living out the vision of President [Julius] Nyerere," Obama continued.

"The core values that he proclaimed for Tanzania also describe what both our countries seek -- wisdom, unity, and peace -- Hekima, Umoja, na Amani," Obama said at a state dinner, held at 9:00 p.m. local time.

"Nyerere 'led a one-party state that nationalized key industries and created ujamaa, a rural, collective village-based movement of "African socialism" and "self reliance,"' according to a 2011 report by the Congressional Research Service," the Daily Caller reports.

"That ujamaa policy was very fashionable among U.S. and European progressives in the 1980s, when Obama was attending Colombia University and Harvard University," according to the Daily Caller.

Liberal Bob Beckel Shreds Obama's Phone Spying: "You Talk About Fascism"

By Rick Pearcey • June 7, 2013, 09:58 AM

Bob Beckel on Fox News' The Five had this to say yesterday, in response to a NYTimes editorial titled, "President Obama's Dragnet":

I think it is one of the most outrageous examples of the stepping on the Constitution that I’ve heard. They have no right to phone records. These phone records, they get both sides. They monitor how long the phone converstation takes place. People who have no . . . they're not on record for anything.

This is the government getting into our business that it ought to be out. It is illegal, it is unconstitutional, and it is deplorable. I didn’t like it when they did it in the Bush administration and I don’t like when they’re doing it now. . . .

They're taking my phone records. Get your hands off my phone records! . . . The government has no right.

They have taken this Patriot Act, which I think was the most dangerous act passed, and they have taken it and they have abused it. . . .

You talk about fascism. You’re getting d--- close to it.

Chaffetz: "Impeachment . . . a Possibility"

By Rick Pearcey • May 20, 2013, 11:11 AM

Robert Costa reports at National Review:

Representative Jason Chaffetz, a Utah Republican, says President Barack Obama may face impeachment over his administration’s response to the Benghazi attack.

"They purposefully and willfully misled the American people, and that’s unacceptable," Chaffetz tells me. "It’s part of a pattern of deception."

IRS Boss in Charge When Targeting Tea Party Now Heads IRS Obamacare

By Rick Pearcey • May 16, 2013, 08:50 PM

Fox News reports:

Fox News learned Thursday night that the IRS official in charge of the tax-exempt office during the targeting of Tea Party groups, Sarah Hall Ingram, is now charge of the IRS' health care office.

Sarah Hall Ingram became Division Commissioner of the Tax Exempt & Government Entities (TE/GE) Division -- the head of the division that included the group that targeted Tea Party groups -- at the IRS in 2009, a congressional source told Fox News' Mike Emanuel.

Is the writing not on the wall? Everything the Obama administration does seems designed to consolidate and monopolize power in Washington, D.C.

And always in the name of something admirable, such as healthcare, for example. Or reproductive rights. Don't worry about minor details, such as losing one's freedom or of babies being butchered in the millions. Everybody knows those details are distractions.

Obama's fundamental transformation of America is extremism par excellence. It moves the United States from that of a nation rooted in freedom, under God, to that of a country rooted in control, under Washington.

A free-thinking people of self-determination and of dignity revolts.

"Apolitical" IRS Official: Husband’s Law Firm Has Strong Obama Connections

By Rick Pearcey • May 16, 2013, 01:00 PM

Patrick Howley reports at the Daily Caller:

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) official who apologized for targeting conservative nonprofit groups for extra scrutiny is married to an attorney whose firm hosted a voter registration organizing event for the 2012 Obama re-election campaign, praised President Obama’s policy work, and had one of its partners appointed by Obama to a key ambassadorship.

IRS Exempt Organizations Division director Lois G. Lerner, who has been described as "apolitical" in [the formerly] mainstream press coverage of the IRS scandal, is married to tax attorney Michael R. Miles, a partner at the law firm Sutherland Asbill & Brennan. The firm is based in Atlanta but has a number of offices including in Washington, D.C., where Miles works.

"The 400-attorney firm hosted an organizing meeting at its Atlanta office for people interested in helping with voter registration for the Obama re-election campaign," according to The Daily Caller.

"Come learn more about how you can create, organize, and host a voter registration event here in Atlanta in the coming weeks. We will be meeting at at 7:30pm at 999 Peachtree St. NE, in the law offices of Sutherland, Asbill, and Brennan," reads an event announcement posted at my.barackobama.com.

White House Meets Press on Benghazi . . . in Private

By Rick Pearcey • May 10, 2013, 03:22 PM

Ben Shapiro writes at Breitbart.com:

In the White House’s latest efforts at transparency, the administration announced to reporters that it would brief reporters on the latest shocking developments about the Benghazi situation . . . behind closed doors.

Politico reports that the meeting started at approximately 12:45 PM ET, and that it moved the normal press briefing to 1:45 PM ET. Jay Carney, White House press secretary, did not comment on whether the meeting took place.

Benghazi Terror: What Did Obama Know and When Did He Know It?

By Rick Pearcey • May 10, 2013, 12:44 PM

Matthew Vadum writes at Frontpagemag.com:

Congressional testimony this week showed the appalling lengths to which the Obama administration went to cover-up its mishandling of last fall’s terrorist attack at the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, but President Obama’s precise role in the cynical operation remains hidden.

Americans still don’t know what President Obama knew and when he knew it. We don’t know what exactly he did when he learned on Sept. 11, 2012 that U.S. officials in Benghazi were under attack. Obama may have gone to bed while the attack was in progress, leaving others in the administration to develop a politically expedient cover story calculated to get the Obama administration past the finish line last Election Day.

"Obama’s advisers, with the president’s consent or not, opted to tell lies to get their man reelected, and to deal with the consequences of those untruths later," Vadum continues. "They knew they could count on the mainstream media to snooze on the job and dismiss the investigation to come as a partisan witch-hunt."

Vadum concludes: "At this point it appears that only partisan leftists, useful idiots, the naive, and the ill-informed profess the belief that run-of-the-mill governmental incompetence explains the administration’s disgraceful behavior on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks that brought down the World Trade Center.

"Chances are Republicans in Congress will not drop this critical issue and that this week’s testimony from State Department officials who were bullied and intimidated by the Obama White House is only the beginning."

Clarence Thomas: Obama "Approved by the Elites" Because He Says What They "Expect From a Black Person"

By Rick Pearcey • May 3, 2013, 01:12 PM

Justice Thomas' remarks occurred during a C-SPAN program at Duquense Law School that aired April 9, 2013. He was asked, "Did you ever expect to see an African-American president during your lifetime?"

Thomas replied:

Yes, I’ve always thought there would be black coaches, black heads of universities -- maybe again as I said I’m naïve, but the thing that I always knew is that it would have to be a black president who was approved by the elites and the media because anybody that they didn’t agree with, they would take apart.

And that will happen with virtually -- you pick your person, any black person who says something that is not the prescribed things that they expect from a black person will be picked apart. You can pick anybody, don’t pick me, pick anyone who has decided not to go along with it; there’s a price to pay. So, I always assumed it would be somebody the media had to agree with.

Pentagon May Court-Martial Soldiers Who Share the Gospel

By Rick Pearcey • May 2, 2013, 10:45 AM

Ken Klukowski reports at Breitbart.com:

The Pentagon has released a statement confirming that soldiers could be prosecuted for promoting their faith: "Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense. . . . Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis."

"The statement, released to Fox News, follows a Breitbart News report on Obama administration Pentagon appointees meeting with anti-Christian extremist Mikey Weinstein to develop court-martial procedures to punish Christians in the military who express or share their faith," Breitbart reports.

On Nov. 23, 2012, I wrote on Twitter, "You do realize that 'Christian' Obama is in the process of criminalizing Christianity."

I then illustrated this on Facebook with reference to Obamacare, writing also on Nov. 23, 2012:

Obamacare requires the funding of pro-abortion provisions.

Obamamare will fine people who embrace science (the human biology of the fetus), ethics (it's wrong to kill the innocent), the Constitution (there is no basis for the federal gov't to impose its "healthcare" upon the states and the people).

The verifiable data we have vis-a-vis the Christian worldview embraces science, protects the innocent, and favors freedom.

This worldview, as such, cannot therefore be reduced to activities inside prayer closets or to singing 18 verses of "Just as I am."

Community with God and man is intended to be lived out across the whole of life. [emphasis added]

We now already have massive demonization from Obama, the Democrats, and the formerly mainstream Democrat media.

The purpose of demonization is to destroy -- reputations at first; much more later, if necessary.

Fines for not complying with Obamacare will be in force.

What do you think will happen if companies and individuals or companies refuse to pay fines?

Well, stiffer fines. Court. Jail. Possibly more.

This is one of the paths to the criminalization of Christianity currently underway.

Jesus of Nazareth commissioned his followers to take the Good News regarding God's answer to the problem of human brokenness into all parts of the world: "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation" (Mark 16:15-16).

In view of this statement from the Pentagon, we now have the Department of Defense of "Christian" Barack Obama repudiating Christ, repudiating the explicit, normative, publicly actionable, and verifiable teaching of Jesus of Nazareth.

Memo to Obama: The scope of Christ's commission to share with our fellow human beings the Good News from the Creator (who is the basis of unalienable rights), regarding the real-world solution to the brokenness of the human condition, includes all of life, including military life, even at the Pentagon.

Obama is a mere creature. Neither he nor his servants has the authority to countermand this commission from Christ himself. The extremism of Barack Obama against God, humanity, and freedom becomes more evident with each passing day. A free-thinking people, and a freedom-thinking people, revolts.

Classmate: Obama's Plan to Bring "the System Down" Hatched at Columbia University

By Rick Pearcey • April 30, 2013, 06:24 PM

Wayne Root writes at Human Events:

President Obama and I were college classmate at Columbia University, class of ’83.

I know all too well how mindlessly liberal the students and faculty of that institution can be, and Barack Obama is certainly no exception.

My time at Columbia made it crystal clear: liberals always believe they are morally superior.

While they publicly state that their mission is to save the world from prejudice, patriotism, racism, greed, and inequality, they are, in fact, hostile and resentful towards anyone who has achieved self-made success through American values.

It is in this cesspool of intolerance that Obama and his Marxist cronies hatched a secret plan to destroy our country. They openly hated America -- calling it racist. They hated capitalism -- and vowed to bring "the system down."
