Tucker vs. Bill Nye the Fanatic Guy -- Global Warming, Video

By Rick Pearcey • February 28, 2017, 11:27 AM

Watch this Tucker Carlson Tonight interchange on global warming, between Bill Nye and Tucker Carlson, and note who is asking questions and who appears dogmatic, fanatical in demeanor, and tries to bully his way to impose his opinion.

I would suggest: If the "science" behind global warming is so "settled," a media veteran such as Mr. Nye should have little difficulty relaxing and using this broadcast occasion to educate a national audience.

He would help his case immensely if he simply stated a proposition and offered scientific evidence to support it. That he did not do. Instead of that he seemed offended and knocked off-balance because Carlson dared to question.

Nye huffed and puffed and did not recover. He lost his cool and seemed anything but a clear-minded scientist in the honest pursuit of verifiable information.

Far better, Mr. Nye, to smile and make your case. We're more than able to evaluate it. Take your theory out of the dogmatic bubble of "settled science" and let's see how it fares.

My hope is that scientists of our day, some of whom seem to be rather more politicized than scientific, will re-embrace what is both the scientific and Biblical calling to be critical thinkers who insist on data, evaluate evidence, think for themselves, reject bullying and peer pressure, and prefer reasoned trust over blind faith.

Leaked Audio Exposes Anti-Trump Forces Manufacturing Hostile Town Hall

By Rick Pearcey • February 27, 2017, 11:25 AM

Peter Hasson reports at The Daily Caller:

Leaked audio from an anti-Trump protest group meeting reveals activists with anti-Trump group Indivisible plotting how to best manufacture a hostile environment at a town hall with Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, on Friday.

The audio, obtained by local radio station KPEL, reveals a coordinated effort to create the public impression that Cassidy's support for Trump is unpopular with his constituents. The activists, who describe themselves as liberals in the audio, can be heard strategizing how to best turn a local town hall into a political victory.

Inside Team/Outside Team: "The activists split up into an 'inside team' -- tasked with occupying 'as many seats as we can' and an 'outside team,' whose job was to 'give [the media] the coverage they want' before joining the others inside.

"Dress Like Conservatives": "Activists were instructed to dress like conservatives and leave at home 'any signifier that you're a liberal' in order to blend in with constituents."

"Dominate": "The leftist activists strategized how best to 'dominate' the question-and-answer section of the town hall and keep anyone 'sympathetic' to Cassidy from asking a question."

Liberals Laughing at People of Breaux Bridge: "The audio also reveals the activists laughing about 'the poor people of Breaux Bridge' -- local constituents -- who might get stuck behind them. Local news coverage of the town hall said that 'many attendees were turned away' from the town hall due to 'capacity restrictions'."

Those "Poor People of Breaux Bridge": "If it's all of us in there and the poor people of Breaux Bridge are sitting behind us, well then tough luck for them,' said one organizer, identified by KPEL as James Proctor. His 'poor people' comment drew laughs from the other activists."

"Indivisible recently partnered up with Organizing for Action, the activist group aligned with former President Obama, NBC News reported earlier this month," The DC reports.

Non-Organic: Democrat Operatives Revealed Behind Mexico City Demonstration Against Tillerson

By Rick Pearcey • February 23, 2017, 01:27 PM

Peter Hasson reports at The Daily Caller:

An official arm of the Democratic party is behind a planned demonstration against Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Thursday outside the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City.

The Mexico chapter of Democrats Abroad -- "the official Democratic Party arm for the millions of Americans living outside the United States," according to the group's website -- is organizing the demonstration against Tillerson, who arrived in the Mexican capital on Wednesday.

Advertising for the demonstration on The Action Network, a website for left-wing activists, says that "Democrats Abroad Mexico and other progressive organizations like the Women's March and Bridges to Understanding have created a petition" that demands Tillerson "meet with U.S. citizens who hold opposing views while he visits Mexico City to talk with Mexican government officials."

"A man named Doug Hall is the listed creator of both the event and the MoveOn.org petition," Hasson writes. "Hall has been identified in Mexican news sources as an employee of Democrats Abroad Mexico. He did not return an email seeking comment."

According to the Daily Caller, "The head of Democrats Abroad Mexico is Jody Quinnell, who served as a delegate for Hillary Clinton at the Democratic National Convention."

Finally, Hasson reports, "Indivisible, the anti-Trump group that has helped organize protests of Republican town halls across the country, promoted Thursday’s demonstration on its website. NBC News reported earlier this month that Indivisible has 'teamed up' with former Obama group Organizing for Action in organizing anti-Trump efforts."

Sweden Fail, Again: "Stockholm Suburb 'Looking Like a Warzone'"

By Rick Pearcey • February 21, 2017, 11:48 AM

Virginia Hale reports at Breitbart:

Riots broke out on Monday night in the suburb of Rinkeby, where a majority of residents were born overseas, just hours after the country's Prime Minister attacked U.S President Donald J. Trump for linking mass migration with rising violence in Sweden.

The riots, in which cars were set ablaze and shops were looted, resulted in the Stockholm suburb looking "like a warzone" according to a journalist who was at the scene.

Police retreated to a nearby gas station after being forced to fire a warning shot as a group of around 30 thugs pelted officers with stones, according to Expressen. . .

So, of course (some would have us think), nothing to see here -- just a little rioting and burning and police retreating in this otherwise Scandinavian Eden.

But for those wanting to take another look, go here to read more on "Sweden: Looting, Cars Torched, Police Attacked as Riots Break Out in Migrant Suburb."

CPAC in Turmoil Over Yiannopoulos Invitation to Speak

By Rick Pearcey • February 20, 2017, 12:17 PM

Leon Wolf reports at The Blaze:

Every year, the American Conservative Union hosts the Conservative Political Action Conference, one of the largest gatherings of conservative activists in the country. After ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp announced last week that alt-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos would be speaking at this year's CPAC, controversy immediately erupted --  a controversy that was exacerbated when multiple videos surfaced of Yiannopoulos arguing for the legalization of sexual relations between teenage boys and adult men, as well as making anti-Semitic comments about Jews in the media.

Homofascism: Washington Supreme Court Activists Punish Barronelle Stutzman

By Rick Pearcey • February 17, 2017, 01:55 PM

Jim Campbell writes at Alliance Defending Freedom:

After much anticipation, the Washington Supreme Court has punished Barronelle Stutzman for peacefully operating her business consistently with her faith.

The court's decision affirms a lower-court ruling that requires Barronelle to pay the attorneys’ fees that the ACLU racked up in suing her.

Often, in cases like this, the attorneys' fees for each side are hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more.

What we are witnessing here is not justice (it's not even close), but fascism -- in particular, homofascism.

Fascism is a radical relativistic fact-denying will-to-power that rejects transcendent, humane, and ethical norms and instead seeks substitutes for these norms within the closed-down political state. It is the idolatry of secularized state political power, and because it lacks a high view of the human being (as merely matter or merely a creature of the state, for example), it always, by inner necessity, results in horrible inhumanity.

No amount of (whether paid or heartfelt) marching, protesting, or rioting in the name of liberation can make up for the fundamental and irredeemable fascist poverty with respect to the worth, dignity, and significance of the human being. In a fascist system, the human intrinsically is a zero and is therefore treated that way. Fascism is principially inhumane.

Homofascism seeks to absolutize and impose a diversity-denying monosexuality that wars irrationally against the facts of life (the biology of male and female), that wars principially against the American mainstream (rooted in liberating transcendent norms -- see the Declaration of Independence), and wars violently against the human being as human being. After all, the human is created to be free of state totalitarianism and instead to choose loving and liberating community with a knowable and factually verifable Creator and with our neighbor, who is of great worth and dignity, by virtue of his or her level of being, having been created in the image of God.

Homofascist faith forges chains. It co-opts the instrumentality of government as a force for good and transforms it into a force for gross inhumanity and evil. In the name of whatever empty trigger words happen to be culturally resonant in the present moment ("diversity," "love," "equality," "choice," "tolerance"), it unleashes hatred and venom upon those who stand for enduring freedom and intrinsic humanness.

By this mechanism of manipulation and hate, the strong prey upon the widow and the orphan, upon the "scum of the earth," and upon those who insist on asking questions, thinking for themselves, and glorying in the wonder and diversity of male and female.

Intelligence and humanity revolt. And if America would be America, she and we must overcome.

Defiant Texas Pastors Blast Extremist NFL's Unsafe Transgender Threat

By Rick Pearcey • February 16, 2017, 11:14 AM

Bob Unruh reports at WND:

Texas pastors -- who stopped a lesbian mayor's social agenda in Houston by taking it to voters -- are responding to not-so-veiled threats from the National Football League that the Lone Star State must promote transgenderism through an open-bathrooms policy.

It's a policy in which men who "identify as women" are allowed to use restrooms, locker rooms and other facilities designated for women.

The issue arose under President Barack Obama, who pushed the agenda even to the point of mandating it in public schools before the order was put on hold by the federal courts.

"CBS News reported recently the NFL 'sharpened' its warning to Texas, where lawmakers are considering a simple bill that would require people use restrooms corresponding with their physical sex," Unruh explains.

"If a proposal that is discriminatory or inconsistent with our values were to become law there, that would certainly be a factor considered when thinking about awarding future events," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy boomed, according to WND.

But the "pastors of the Texas Pastor Council, however, were in no mood to succumb to an outside group they said was trying to put women and children in danger," Unruh writes. "The group said Texans 'love football, but we love our God, our freedom and our families more'."

Moreover, "If we are forced to choose, then we will say to the NFL and other sports organizations or lobby groups: 'Don't let the ticket gate hit you on the way out of Texas'," the council said, according to WND.

"Yellow penalty flags are flying all across Texas with pastors ruling a personal foul against NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and spokesman Brian McCarthy for threatening the safety of our women and children in Texas," the diverse coalition of pastors also reportedly said.

According to McCarthy, the NFL "embraces inclusiveness."

"We want all fans to feel welcomed at our events, and NFL policies prohibit discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or any other improper standard," McCarthy asserted, Unruh reports.

For all its empty verbiage about "discrimination," the NFL's moral hypocrisy is blatant, even as in reality it embraces an intolerance that would exclude the entire state of Texas unless Texas submits to the NFL's attempt to impose extremist beliefs that contradict responsible ethics, basic biology, and a respect for the safety and well-being of those who might attend NFL games.

“We demand to know what role the NFL has in dictating the values of Texas, interfering with something outside of regulating their own sport and placing our women and children in harm’s way to give preference to one-tenth of one percent who are confused about their gender," the coalition of pastors fired back in reply.

"The pastors said if the NFL's values 'include requiring that men can use women's restrooms, we have a special message for the commissioner and Mr. McCarthy: Pastors of every color and every corner of this state are declaring that we choose mothers over money, daughters over dollars and privacy over predators'," WND reports.

CIA Broke the Law to Take Out Its Critic General Flynn

By Rick Pearcey • February 14, 2017, 07:52 AM

"Make no mistake, we have just witnessed an operation by members of the CIA to take out a high official of our own government," Thomas Lifson writes at American Thinker. "An agency that is widely believed to have brought down democratically elected governments overseas is now practicing the same dark arts in domestic American politics."

Lifson says New York Democrat Sen. Chuck Shumer "laid out on January 2nd what was going to happen to the Trump administration if it dared take on the deep state -- the permanent bureaucracy that has contempt for the will of the voters and feels entitled to run the government for its own benefit":

New Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump is "being really dumb" by taking on the intelligence community and its assessments on Russia's cyber activities.

"Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you," Schumer told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow.

“So even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he’s being really dumb to do this."

"Or, as the old rueful saying has it, 'You’ve got to go along to get along'," Lifson notes.

That "rueful saying" has a hard edge, Lifson warns, for it "means that we the people had better acknowledge that the bureaucrats have turned into our masters, and the old expression 'public servant' is as ironic as anything Orwell came up with. Schumer knows this and likes it, because the deep state wants a bigger more powerful government, just as he does."

Moreover, Lifson continues, "The law was broken by whoever leaked the transcripts to the media. Not only is the crime underlying the 'scandal' being ignored, the criminals are being hailed. On Morning Joe’s first hour today, the host, a former congressman (i.e., a lawmaker) himself, called the leakers 'heroes'."

The upshot? Lipson writes: "This interference in domestic politics by the CIA should be regarded as a major threat to our democracy, but of course our Trump-hating domestic media are reveling in a major point scored against the new president."

Good: "Demoralizing" Gorsuch Confirms Trump's Attacks on Rogue Judiciary Are Working

By Rick Pearcey • February 9, 2017, 10:33 AM

"So the judiciary is demoralized and disheartened! That's just great!" Ed Straker writes at American Thinker. "Then Trump's attacks are working. Perhaps left-wing activist judges will think twice in the future before trying to take over powers from the executive branch." (Power and authority concerning immigration policy, for example.)

"What other emotions should Judge James Robart and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals be feeling"? Straker asks. Why, of course: "Embarrassment," "Shame," "Fear," and "Surprise" -- not to mention a few discomforting physical experiences.

Army Special Forces Veteran-Owned Coffee Company Hits Back at Starbucks: Video

By Rick Pearcey • February 8, 2017, 12:46 PM

Fox News reports:

In response to Starbucks announcing it would hire 10,000 refugees to protest President Donald Trump's executive order on immigration, one veteran has a different plan.

Evan Hafer, an Army Special Forces veteran and CEO of Black Rifle Coffee Company, said he would hire 10,000 veterans.

"Our plan is to build 600 stores in the next six years. I'm gonna try to push this forward with the community behind me," Hafer said yesterday on Fox & Friends.

"According to January 2017 data from the Department of Labor, there is a 6.3 percent post 9/11 veteran unemployment rate in the country," FoxNews reports.

Hafer says "he would be mostly hiring from this group but would extend to Gulf War veterans as well if need be," according to Fox.

"Black Rifle Coffee Company was founded two years ago and has a more than 50 percent hiring rate of veterans as employees," Fox reports.

How did combat combine with coffee to enter the marketplace battlefield? Hafer explains:

I started Black Rifle Coffee Company to provide a high-quality, roast-to-order coffee to the pro 2A [2nd Amendment] and veteran communities.

Between deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, I was working to refine both my coffee roasting skills and my firearms skills.

I have spent over a decade researching coffee, refining my roast profiles and (of course) drinking what I roast.

Black Rifle Coffee is quite literally the combination of my two favorite passions. I take pride in the coffee we roast, the veterans we employ, and the causes we support.

Not surprisingly, therefore: "Hiring vets is not PR for me. It's who we are," Hafer says.

To learn more about Black Rifle Coffee Company, visit the website (which is outstanding which would be outstanding, for example, if Black Rifle Coffee Company drops profanity from the names of some of its coffee offerings -- update, March 5, 2017).

Radical Liberal Terrorism Watch: Violent Campus Rioting Reveals Modern Liberals as Fascist Tyrants

By Rick Pearcey • February 7, 2017, 02:01 PM

Tom Trinko writes at American Thinker:

The violent riots on college campuses designed to shut down free speech are simply the latest sign of the elephant in the room: modern liberals are fascist tyrants at heart who reject democracy, free speech, and pretty much everything else in the Constitution.

They are not patriots with a different vision of democracy, but traitors who want to remake America into a one-party state where the government rules the people. . . .

"It's time to stop pretending that the people who are the public face of modern liberalism are the loyal opposition," Trinko writes. "Instead, we should shout from the rooftops that they are fascists who wish to put the American people in chains."

Dallas Homeowner Fights Off Home Invasion Gang -- Video

By Rick Pearcey • February 6, 2017, 08:26 AM

The following news story describes a win for the good guys and is an example of the God-given unalienable right to life, which contains the embedded corollary of the human right to self-defense (atheistic naturalism or secularism has no adequate intellectual basis for such rights).

Thus writes A.W.R. Hawkins at Breitbart:

Surveillance video of a foiled home invasion shows the homeowner lying in wait before springing into action and firing several rounds at the suspects.

The incident occurred last week in Dallas, Texas.

According to CBSDFW, homeowner Terry Morgan woke up to the sound of someone knocking on his door just before 5 a.m. He looked at footage from his surveillance cameras and saw a female suspect knocking, then saw a male suspect who was holding what appeared to be an AK-style rifle.

Morgan "was able to fight back with a gun and a camera," the news presenter on CBS DFW reports.

"I know that if they get into this house, I might not live to see that sun that's coming up in a few hours. So immediately I thought about, you know, survival," Morgan says during a video news interview.

You can read the rest of Hawkins' story here. And here is the video of the CBS Dallas Fort Worth news report.

A final note: Homeowner Terry Morgan is right to protect the borders of his domicile, just as the America people are right to protect the borders of our nation.

It's neither loving nor compassionate to allow uninvited people to enter one's proper sphere of responsibility and sovereignty.

Whether large or small, individual or national, such entry equals invasion. And the healthy, humane, loving, and compassionate response begins with pushing the invader back into the deep, dark sea. You can serve tea and cookies later.

Real Madrid Surrenders -- Its Cross

By Rick Pearcey • February 1, 2017, 09:10 AM

John Calvin writes at American Spectator:

For those who don't follow "international football," Real Madrid is one of the marquee sports teams in the world. Think of them as the New York Yankees of soccer whose players are megastars and whose brand is known across the globe.

Real Madrid recently announced that it will be altering its logo in the Middle East so as not to upset the cultural sensitivity of people in that region.

Is there another motivation that explains why Real Madrid jettisoned its cross? Calvin answers:

It appears the motivation for the removal of the cross was cold hard cash. Real Madrid had signed a large sponsorship deal with the National Bank of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the removal announcement came shortly after the deal was signed. Khaled al-Mehri, vice chairman for Marka who will be distributing the merchandise with the cross-less logo, had this to say, "We have to be sensitive towards other parts of the gulf that are quite sensitive to products that hold the cross."

"This may seem like a small story," Calvin observes. And yet:

On a daily basis, we are scolded about tolerance, but when it comes to Christianity, tolerance for its practitioners is certainly not in vogue.

The Center for Studies on New Religions reported that in 2016, Christianity was the most persecuted religion in the world, with 90,000 Christians killed last year for their beliefs. In America, the leaked emails of John Podesta during the recent Presidential campaign show the contempt in which mainstream Christians are viewed by our political class.

"Real Madrid is a private company and is free to do whatever it pleases with its logo," Calvin notes. "But it didn't just remove the cross from its logo. It removed the symbol of Christianity, in order to satisfy its material desires and to appease and endorse a region's ideology that welcomes religious persecution and blatant discrimination."

Calvin concludes: "Real Madrid's financial gain is the world's loss."
