Bachmann: "It's All Up to Hoffman Now"

By Rick Pearcey • October 31, 2009, 09:05 PM

Send Help: "The polls all show that Hoffman's message of fiscal responsibility and conservatism are resonating strongly with the voters in that district," writes Michele Bachmann on her website. "I am very hopeful that they will send him across the finish line in first place Tuesday night."

Halloween Bombshell: Scozzafava Quits, Reports Say She'll Support Hoffman

By Rick Pearcey • October 31, 2009, 08:26 PM

Political Shock Heard 'Round the Country: Liberal GOP candidate Dede Scozzafava has quit the race for the 23rd congressional district of New York. "The hand-picked choice of the New York state GOP in the key 23rd District special election . . . reportedly will throw her support to Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman," reports Stacy McCain.

Here's some reaction:

Michelle Malkin: "Hey, GOP elites: Can you hear Conservatives NOW?!"

Christian-Science Monitor: "Disaffected conservatives surging across the US."

Gingrich: Hoffman the "only alternative."

Maggie's Notebook: "RNC wastes $900,000 on Scozzafava."

Michael Steele: "Effective immediately, the RNC will endorse and support the conservative candidate in the race, Doug Hoffman. Doug’s campaign will receive the financial backing of the RNC, and get-out-the-vote efforts to defeat Bill Owens on Tuesday," reports the LATimes.

"Test Everything"? Pastors Plead Guilty in Scams

By Rick Pearcey • October 31, 2009, 11:03 AM

Yes, and That Includes, Especially Includes, Religious Leadership: "Officials say two pastors and a deacon from a Houston church have pleaded guilty to fraud charges stemming from student loans and reimbursements for housing Hurricane Katrina evacuees," reports AP in a story published at OneNewsNow. "The U.S. Attorney's Office says the three were leaders of the Fishers of Men Worship Center."

Standing in a pulpit, wearing holy robes, leading a ministry, delivering goose-bump sermons or radio commentary (written by somebody else), or being a big name in the church of Celebrianity, of this or that national fellowship, may in fact have little to do with genuine, Biblical, Christian leadership. Wolves in sheep's clothing, etc. (Matt. 7:15, 1Thess. 5:21).

Whether we are talking about "little ministry" or Big Time Professional Christianity, it is crucial to overcome what Francis Schaeffer calls "The Central Problem of Our Age."

Obamacare's Scary October Surprise

By Rick Pearcey • October 31, 2009, 09:49 AM

They Impose, We Revolt: "Stung by a rising tide of resistance and a closing window of opportunity, House Democrats have unleashed a new version of ObamaCare, weighing in 1,990 pages and with a $1 trillion price tag," writes Robert Knight at American Thinker. "House speaker Nancy Pelosi promises to ram it through quickly, exhibiting a disdain for her countrymen that makes Marie Antoinette look like a populist."

Bachmann: Healthcare Horror the "Crown Jewel of Socialism"

By Rick Pearcey • October 31, 2009, 09:07 AM

Capitol Hill Control vs. American Constitution: "This is socialized medicine, and this is, as I said, the crown jewel of socialism -- what Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid have wanted from the very beginning," said congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota last night on Hannity. Here's video from her appearance.

It is crucial that Bachmann and others continue to drive home that point that what the Democrats are doing violates the Constitution of the United States.

That, along with a similar emphasis on moving forward on the basis of Declaration content, is crucial to reforming and refounding this nation so that her inhabitants can once again breathe the air of freedom and dignity in community with God and man.

Comcast Drops Halloween Programming for Reading of Healthcare Bill HR 1984

By Rick Pearcey • October 29, 2009, 03:25 PM

THUDDD! Here is the House healthcare bill, the stated purpose of which is to "provide affordable, quality health care for all Americans and reduce the growth in health care spending, and for other purposes."

Based on all we know about government "efficiency," virtually socialized anything, and federalistic hubris, the real-world results of this bill -- if ever passed and signed into law -- will be to impose (not "provide") unaffordable (not "affordable") unhealthy (not "healthy") lack of care (not "care") upon all Americans (whatever "American" means on Capitol Hill these days) and increase (not "reduce") the growth (finally, truth, but more accurately: "massive growth") of health care spending (and an ever-increasing federalized state), and for other purposes (such as creating a permanently dependant citizenry upon whom power elites may divide, conquer, and enslave, as did the masters of yesteryear).

As you will see upon opening this massive 1,990-page document, the first page leaves blank the HR number. Hence: HR____.

I suggest HR 1984, in honor of George Orwell's famed novel 1984 and its warnings about Newspeak and good, old-fashioned totalitarianism, updated for the Age of Obama. Call it: Tobamatarianism.

Fortunately, wonderfully subversive speech still exists, and we revolt against socialized medicine dictated by Washington-centric elites and their collaborators in media, on campus, in Hollywood, and in Russia, Cuba, and Venezuela.

And we revolt in the name of the Declaration of Independence (as written), the U.S. Constitution (as written), and the Bill of Rights (as written). And finally, we revolt on behalf of the Creator who is there (thank you Francis Schaeffer) and who endows human beings, created in his image, with "certain unalienable rights" and "that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."

Meanwhile, Comcast Cable has dropped all Halloween programming and decided to present shocker readings of this frightful bill day and night. Scientific polling from the Capitol Hill firm Vampires R Us comfirms expected viewership is scared to death. Order government-approved popcorn here. All profits go to Pelosi and Gore, Inc., and/or other worthy causes yet to be determined.

Home Depot Fires Man for Wearing "Under God" Pin: Video

By Rick Pearcey • October 29, 2009, 10:03 AM

But Trevor Keezer Is Not Backing Down: According to Fox News, Home Depot says wearing the pin violated company policy. In that case, Home Depot needs a policy adjustment. Big time.

Otherwise, milions of Americans who are unashamed of the Creator, unashamed of the facts of our Founding as a nation under God, unashamed of a Pledge of Allegiance that declares, "One Nation Under God," may decide as an act of stewardship to take what's left of their hard-earned paychecks and spend them elsewhere.

This is not about a private religion, subjective values, psychological "faith," or relativistic company policy.

This is about freedom under the fact of a knowable, verifiable, and rational Creator who has endowed human beings, created in His image, with "certain unalienable rights."

That's the mainstream of American exceptionalism.

Home Depot may have just declared itself outside of that mainstream of liberty and freedom. And that, my friends, is an extreme position against who we are as a nation "conceived in liberty" by the Creator of liberty.

Instead of being fired, Trevor Keezer ought to be promoted. He can take the job of the unfortunate person who decided "Under God" is bad for Home Depot.

So what is it, Home Depot? When it comes to affirming who we are as Americans: Are you in, or are you out?

Fox and White House Declare Truce?

Guantanamo Torture Songs

By Rick Pearcey • October 28, 2009, 03:29 PM

It ain't Guantanamera, but the Washington Post is on the story anyway.

It seems there's a big FOIA look-see to uncover "which songs were blasted at prisoners -- for hours and even days at a time -- as part of interrogations or punishment" at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, writes David Paulin at American Thinker

Just a guess, but among them might be "I Can't Gitmo" by the . . . oh, I forget the name of that group.

* Roy: "I am thoroughly disgusted and dissafected by both major political parties. Neither really represents the interests of the people, just their OWN best interests. I think that Ronald Regan was probably the last TRUE republican."

* Wayne: "Instead of a GOP (Grand Old Party), how about a GNP (Great New Party)?"

* Rick Pearcey: "As far as I can tell, neither party does anything close to what the Founders did: Articulate and practice a politics of conviction rooted in the Declaration (as written) and Constitution (as written).

"Without such a principial foundation the slide slower (GOP) or faster (Democrats) into Washington-centric slavery, the first-fruits of which we already taste, will continue apace against inadequate, ill-prepared opposition.

"America awaits the arrival of at least one political party that will assert itself clearly and courageously as a voice of humane, Declarational, and Constitutional resistance to the current, ongoing collapse of freedom."

Death to Wimpy Pastors

By Rick Pearcey • October 27, 2009, 10:26 AM

When it comes to applying what clearly are the fact-based truth-claims of the Creator to the whole of life, including public life and political life, many, many pastors are simply AWOL, says Dave Welch in "Where Are All the Godly Men?" at WorldNetDaily. Welch is founder of the U.S. Pastor Council.

The wimpy "nice" pastor who nevertheless does not lead needs to become a thing of the past, replaced by those who are fully engaged in being salt and light here and now. Unless, as Welch observes, you don't mind putting up with a "church and country" that are in "spiritual, moral, cultural and political disarray."

Palin, Pawlenty Endorsing NY's Hoffman, Trouble for Newt

By Rick Pearcey • October 27, 2009, 08:44 AM

Sarah Palin endorsed Doug Hoffman of NY's 23rd congressional district last Thursday.

And now, "with the news [yesterday] that Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has endorsed Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman in the three-way congressional race in upstate New York's 23rd District, . . . the pressure is on former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee to follow suit," writes Robert Stacy McCain at American Spectator.

"However, Red State's Erick Erickson is laying down an ultimatum to any Republican who wants grassroots conservative support for a 2012 presidential bid," McCain continues.

"Erickson says Romney and Huckabee have until noon Wednesday to endorse Hoffman or . . . well, or else."

Last night night on Greta, Newt Gingrich blasted conservatives and argued for Hoffman's Republican opponent, even though, says Gingrich, "No question, on social policy, she's a liberal Republican."

My view: Gingrich is making a tactical error that may reflect flawed strategic thinking. What is needed is at least one political party where Conservative principle is the clear basis. Years of giving into "pragmatic" politics have enabled the present ongoing Constitutional crisis we now face in the United States.

Even more foundational is the need for a clear voice based on a clear commitment -- on the issues, tactics, strategies, and principles -- to Declarational and Constitutional norms and content.

This still has yet to come to the fore with sufficient strength and articulation, but it seems absolutely needed if America is have any sufficient answer to either the fast road to tyranny (the Democratic Party) or the somewhat slower road (squishy Republicanism).

Meanwhile, Stacy McCain is probably right: "Guess that means Erickson has already scratched Newt Gingrich off his 2012 list."

Slave Press Watch: Media Want Government Handout

By Rick Pearcey • October 23, 2009, 07:55 AM

"Increasingly rejected in the marketplace as irrelevant, media elitist want a government bailout to keep them in business," writes Joseph Farah at WorldNetDaily.

"That's the long and the short," Farah says, "of a manifesto on the subject by Leonard Downie, the former executive editor of the Washington Post, and Michael Shudson, a sociologist, in the Columbia Journalism Review this week."

One can understand why those wielding power in D.C. might prefer a compliant "Teacher's Pet" press, but do journalists realize that they're getting into? Farah writes:

Not only do good news people not need bailouts from taxpayers, it would be counterproductive. It would spell the end of the free press in America, its birthplace.

Journalism needs to be independent. The Founding Fathers understood this principle and carved out special constitutional protections for the press. The First Amendment is the only government help American journalism needs.

Go on the take from government and you become dependent on government. Go on the take from government and you become its slave. Go on the take from government and you cease to be a watchdog. Go on the take from government and you become its lapdog. Go on the take from government and you become a public relations servant of government.

Here is the "manifesto" by Downie and Shudson, titled "The Reconstruction of American Journalism."

Boehner: "Wrong to Mandate the American People to Have to Do Anything"

By Rick Pearcey • October 23, 2009, 07:02 AM

CNSNews.com reports:

When asked by CNSNews.com on Thursday where the Constitution authorizes Congresst to order Americans to buy health insurance -- a mandate included in both the House and Senate versions of the health care bill -- House Minority Leader John Boehner (R.-Ohio) said that he was "not a laywer" but that he thought such mandates were wrong.

When asked by CNSNews.com about the constitutional source of Congress's authority to order Americans to buy health insurance earlier on Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) had responded with a question of her own: "Are you serious?"

Fox and Foes

By Rick Pearcey • October 23, 2009, 06:38 AM

Over at Frontpage, Jacob Laksin writes on the "Obama adminstration's daft and dangerous campaign to discredit Fox news." The point? To silence Fox News as a "legitimate" news organization.

The White House move is indeed ominous. Think of it this way: Silencing victims is among the first order of business for criminals. The last thing a guy in the wrong bedroom wants is a woman who yells, "Rape!"

As one who appreciates the Declaration, free speech, and freedom of thought, let me state flatly: It saddens me to see Team Obama stoop so low, but I hope the White House attack on journalism fails.

Welcome to the World of Newspeak

By Rick Pearcey • October 22, 2009, 06:14 AM

"In George Orwell's novel 1984, Newspeak refers to language designed by a totalitarian regime to control thought and make subversive speech impossible," writes Janet Levy at American Thinker.

"It destroyed words with prohibited meanings so that heretical thoughts couldn't be expressed. A form of censorship, Newspeak employed euphemisms and words deliberately opposite the reality they described."

From "man-caused disasters" (terrorism) to "a woman's right to choose" (the taking of human life) to the "Defense of Marriage Act" (forcing same-sex "marriage" on all states), Levy takes us on an examination of "Newspeak at work" today.

Krauthammer Rips "Repulsive Audacity" of White House for Fox News Attacks

By Rick Pearcey • October 21, 2009, 10:09 AM

From Jeff Poor at Newsbusters:

By now, the cat is out of the bag -- President Barack Obama and his administration are no fans of the Fox News Channel and have been all too eager to wear that sentiment as a badge of honor.

However, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer identified the vigor with which the Obama administration has attacked Fox. He explained on the Fox News Oct. 20 broadcast of "Special Report with Bret Baier" that it's different than just fighting back; this is an effort to destroy the cable news channel.

"Look, it's one thing for the government, the administration to attack opponents, institutions, media," Krauthammer said. "It is another to go out to try and delegitimize them and destroy them."

Why America Is Exceptional

By Rick Pearcey • October 21, 2009, 08:16 AM

Columnist and economics professor Walter E. Williams addresses one of the most important issues not being discussed today, on issue after issue, including healthcare.

He writes:

Americans are harder workers, more philanthropic, individualistic, self-reliant, anti-government than people in most other countries. We've turned what was an 18th-century Third World nation into the freest and most prosperous nation in mankind's entire history. Throughout our history, the United States has been a magnet for immigrants around the world. What accounts for what some have called American exceptionalism?

Evangelicals and Immigration: Following the National Council of Churches?

By Rick Pearcey • October 21, 2009, 06:46 AM

"The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) has adopted a new pro-liberalized immigration stance that is creating ripples among its conservative membership," writes Mark Tooley at American Spectator.

"Although NAE had touted its board's supposedly unanimous backing, at least one prominent NAE member, the Salvation Army, has apparently already disavowed it."

What's going on? The AmSpec kicker puts it like this: "The National Association of Evangelicals moves in the direction of the National Council of Churches."

Members of the Presbyterian Church in America may want to take note:

Another prominent NAE member, the 340,00 member Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), issued a statement, more defensively, but also asserting that NAE does not speak for member churches. "The NAE Immigration Resolution of 2009 has not become the PCA position on immigration," insisted PCA Stated Clerk Roy Taylor, who also chairs the NAE's board. But he still affirmed his own support for it: "The NAE Immigration Resolution of 2009, in my view, is a biblically-based, theologically reflective, carefully balanced, concise document."

In his conclusion, Tooley notes that the National Council of Churches (NCC) "became mostly irrelevant when its Mainline Protestant voices stopped speaking for its churches and started speaking 'prophetically' to them. Similarly, the NCC moved beyond issues of Christian consensus to adopt more morally ambiguous, and ostensibly more fashionable, political causes du jour. This sad history should be familiar to evangelicals. But the NAE seems determined to repeat what has already been tried and failed."

Extremists Fear Resistance

By Rick Pearcey • October 20, 2009, 11:32 AM

To prevent the rise of dictatorship, a group called "Oath Keepers" says it is willing to revolt, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Down a few paragraphs into the story is this: "In a July report titled Return of the Militias, the Alabama-based Southern Poverty Law Center singled out Oath Keepers as 'a particularly worrisome example of the Patriot revival.'"

Now, Oath Keepers is new to my radar screen. And while they may be "worrisome" to the Southern Poverty Law Center, let me suggest one thing:

A willingness to revolt against un-Constitutional, anti-Declarational tryanny that seeks to elevate the state above the Creator who endows humanity with "certain unalienable rights" is at the heart of the American mainstream.

Our nation was birthed in opposition to such hubris, audacity, and tyranny. We spilled blood of family and friend against the inhumanity of slavery in the War Between the States. And the 20th century is a chronicle of American efforts in blood and treasure to overcome the forces of secular statism in Fascist Europe and Communism in the USSR. No perfection, but a willingness to pay a price in defense of freedom.

So who, really, are the "extremists"? Who really is outside of the American mainstream?

Clearly, the extremists are not those who resist. Or who are willing to rebel.

Rather, the extremists are those who coward themselves before tyranny, who bow before raw power, who sellout before secular power-mongers, and who expect a dignified people created in the image of God to equally supine themselves as well.

As surely as there is an America Declared in liberty and Constituted under God, that's not going to happen.

This is not to endorse an organization. It is to endorse who we are as Americans, and who we are as free creations of God with "certain unalienable rights."

This should be of little concern to anyone. Besides tyrants and tyrant-wannabes, that is.

NFL Watch: Chest-Thumping Simians and Greedy Cowards

By Rick Pearcey • October 20, 2009, 10:10 AM

Mychal Massie writes at WorldNetDaily:

Ignorance is bliss, so the saying goes, and right about now there are a lot of blissfully ignorant folks prattling about, thumping their chests – characteristic of their simian ancestry save for the scratching of their underarms. I'm talking about those who are taking credit for undermining Rush Limbaugh's enjoining a group interested in purchasing the St. Louis Rams football team.

To hear them tell it, Rush is the devil right out of hell for daring to speak his opinion (in a free society), and often for stating the obvious. Those involved would be laughable in their complaint if they weren't unambiguously ignorant and totally given over to a set of double standards.

Would Rush be worse for the game than Ricky Williams or Lawrence Phillips? One is a self-described "poster child for marijuana," the other a thug who serially beat women. Would Rush be worse for the game than the dozens and dozens of players and coaches who have been arrested (many repeatedly) for drugs, steroids, assault, murder, drunk driving and firearms offenses?

Killing the Opposition: Big Polarization in Obama's America

By Rick Pearcey • October 20, 2009, 09:09 AM

The Unrighteous Brothers: Jackson, Sharpton and the Lucrative Business of Racism

By Rick Pearcey • October 19, 2009, 08:19 AM

Bob Weir writes at American Thinker:

This latest imbroglio about Rush Limbaugh being ineligible to buy an NFL franchise, because of a couple of alleged racial comments he made over the span of his many decades on the radio, stands out as one of the phoniest canards ever foisted upon the American public.

The irony behind the spurious charge is that they come from two of the most incendiary provocateurs in the race-baiting business. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, who give themselves the ludicrous title of Reverend, have the unmitigated gall to proclaim that Limbaugh is a polarizing figure in the country.

This from a couple of race hustlers who have been living large for decades with no visible means of support except for the "donations" the received from the corporations they've threatened with not so subtle methods of extortion.

Ben Stein: America's Cross -- The ACLU at It Again

By Rick Pearcey • October 19, 2009, 07:55 AM

The secularist ACLU is "suing to take down a cross on a huge public swath of desert in Southern California," writes Ben Stein at American Spectator.  Stein offers a few reasons the cross should stay.

To his reasons, let us add this: Nothing in the Declaration, the U.S. Constitution, nor the Bill of Rights forbids it. What is forbidden in the 1st Amendment is that Congress should make a law in this regard.

The atttempt to impose atheism and secularism upon American society represents a profound, ongoing Constitutional crisis and constitutes a threat to every individual inside our borders.

A free, dignified, and creative people under God, endowed by our Creator with "certain unalienable rights," would do well to rise up and throw off the shackles of this imposition.

Helping the oppressed citizens of the United States break free of this statist addiction to the pretend "God" substitute of the federal government -- exemplified by the negative spirituality of the Obama administration but also so easily given into by squishy Republicans -- is a surefire way to demonstrate respect for our true Creator, not to mention love of neighbor.

The alternative is tyranny, and that's not an alternative.

Rush Limbaugh: The Race Card, Football, and Me

By Rick Pearcey • October 17, 2009, 01:52 AM

"My critics would have you believe no conservative meets NFL 'standards'," says Rush Limbaugh in the Wall Street Journal.

"As I explained on my radio show," Limbaugh continues, "this spectacle is bigger than I am on several levels. There is a contempt in the news business, including the sportswriter community, for conservatives that reflects the blind hatred espoused by Messrs. Sharpton and Jackson.

"'Racism' is too often their sledgehammer. And it is being used to try to keep citizens who don't share the left's agenda from participating in the full array of opportunities this nation otherwise affords each of us. It was on display many years ago in an effort to smear Clarence Thomas with racist stereotypes and keep him off the Supreme Court. More recently, it was employed against patriotic citizens who attended town-hall meetings and tea-party protests.

"These intimidation tactics are working and spreading," Limbaugh concludes, "and they are a cancer on our society."

"Claw Back" Question of the Day

By Rick Pearcey • October 16, 2009, 03:00 PM

"Bank of America Corp. Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Lewis won’t receive a salary or bonus for 2009, a decision based on advice from U.S. government pay supervisor Kenneth Feinberg," reports Bloomberg.com.

Hence, our "Claw Back" Question of the Day:

If the White House can claw back money from those who have earned it, can Americans claw back power from a president who has usurped it?

Poll: Marriage License Denied to Mixed-Race Couple

By Rick Pearcey • October 16, 2009, 12:50 PM

The UK Telegraph reports that a Louisiana justice of the peace has denied issuing a marriage license to a mixed-race couple. (My take.)

Here is the poll question:

Should LA Justice Have Issued a Marriage License to This Interracial Couple?

-- Yes

-- No

-- Maybe

Take the poll (via Facebook).

Interracial Couple Denied Marriage License

By Rick Pearcey • October 16, 2009, 11:56 AM

"A Louisiana justice of the peace said he refused to issue a marriage licence to an interracial couple out of concern for any children the couple might have," reports the UK Telegraph.

"I don't do interracial marriages because I don't want to put children in a situation they didn't bring on themselves," the justice is quoted as saying. "In my heart, I feel the children will later suffer."

Perhaps this justice is well-meaning. Or maybe he just emerged out of a time-warp from the Bermuda Triangle.

Am I being too harsh?

After all: All children -- and most of us have been children -- are born into situations they did not bring on themselves. Some situations are good, some are not so good.

The challenge we all face is to make the best of what life throws up before us -- and to overcome and grow in community with our Creator and our fellow man.

Speaking of good situations, consider: Skin color and racial-ethnic diversity are part of the wonder of God's good creation. They've always been there in the potential of the ontology of man's humanity.

I can attest that the Creator's unity of humanity in diversity makes for good fellowship, good music, good soccer teams, and good friendships.

So let's hope, work, and pray for the best for this particular couple.

May the "mixed couple" community have many babies.

And may mixed couples such as this enjoy much humane, physical, loving, and spiritual pleasure in doing so, just as the Creator intends.

And while we're at it, may the beautiful children of this mixed-race couple grow up to become successful achievers and parents in their own right.

I don't know about you, but it wouldn't bother me if they grew up, got rich, enjoyed a really low tax rate, and bought an NFL football team.

"Safe Schools" Chief Was Member of Radical Act Up

By Rick Pearcey • October 16, 2009, 09:30 AM

WorldNetDaily reports:

The man chosen by the Obama administration to head the Department of Education's Office of Safe Schools was an activist with the radical pro-homosexual organization Act Up, known for its aggressive badgering of those who don't support the homosexual lifestyle, according to a new report.

Mass Resistance, a pro-family organization in Massachusetts that has battled over homosexual agenda points there, has posted online a report and video documenting Kevin Jennings' participation in the extremist organization.

The video shows Jeff Davis, Jennings' "partner," addressing a banquet and saying of Jennings, "He was a member of Act Up. Act Up! So it's like -- you know -- here's a big gay activist. BIG gay activist!."

Here's the video.

David Limbaugh: This Isn't About Rush

By Rick Pearcey • October 16, 2009, 08:11 AM

Columnist and author David Limbaugh writes:

There will be no voluntary mea culpas from Rush's race slanderers despite the irrefutable fact that they spread poisonous and damaging lies with actual malice. To the left, Rush is the most prominent face of conservatism and the most influential opponent of President Barack Obama's destructive agenda and so must be stopped -- irrespective of the despicable means employed.

But it is a mistake to think only Rush is in view. David Limbaugh continues:

If any of you are sufficiently naive to believe this NFL incident is merely about Rush, you have a rude awakening in store.

The left is on the march -- the march to isolate, stigmatize, demonize, discredit and ultimately silence those who stand in their way.

If you haven't read up on the plans of Obama's Federal Communications Commission czar to shut down talk radio or if you aren't following the tyrannical workings of the administration in trying to cram down unpopular legislation without a shred of transparency, then you'll eventually witness the lengths to which these people will go -- as illustrated here.

At the risk of sounding trite, we are at a crossroads in this country, and the left is proving each day how ruthlessly unprincipled it will be in advancing its goal of fundamentally changing this nation.

And that change -- away from the living and liberating Founding Vision -- that is, away from the Constitution (as written), the Declaration (as written), and the Bill of Rights (as written) -- will not be for the better. If present trends continue, the devastation of our rights and freedoms we witness already are but the first fruits of alienation and inhumanity that await every single American man, woman, and children -- red and yellow, black and white -- as we drift, or are pushed, further out to sea.

Or you can put it like this: Our Founders knew what they were fighting for, and what they were fighting for was pretty important.

And for those who have "eyes to see" and "ears to hear," for those creatures of dignity and creativity created in the image of God and endowed by our Creator with "certain unalienable rights," it still is.

Homosexuality "Not a Civil Right"

By Rick Pearcey • October 15, 2009, 10:29 AM

OneNewsNow reports:

Last month, the Orange County Board of Education voted unanimously (5-0) to oppose the creation of Harvey Milk Day. Dr. Alexandria Coronado, chairman of that board, says she is "absolutely furious" that the homosexual community is claiming that passage of the Harvey Milk bill is a civil rights victory.

"I think it just absolutely denigrates the entire civil rights movement. Homosexuality is not a civil right," Coronado emphasizes.

"I don't remember the last time that a homosexual person was forced to move out of their seat on a public bus, like Rosa Parks. And I don't remember the last time that a homosexual person or student . . . was forced to go to a segregated school, as in the case of Mendez v. Westminster, which took place right here in Orange County, California."

Republicans Call for CAIR Investigations

By Rick Pearcey • October 15, 2009, 10:02 AM

"The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a U.S. non-profit Muslim activist group associated with Islamist terrorist groups such as Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, is reeling under new allegations of highly suspect activity," writes Connie Hair at Human Events

"In a big presser yesterday, spurred by the release of a new book, Reps. Sue Myrick (R-N.C.), John Shadegg (R-Ariz.), Paul Broun (R-Ga.) and Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) yesterday asked federal officials to investigate the actions and non-profit status of the controversial group," Hair continues.

"The allegations are contained in a new book, Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that’s Conspiring to Islamize America, by bestselling author Paul Sperry and veteran federal investigator and counter-terrorism specialist Paul David Gaubatz.  The book says its information was obtained during a six-month undercover sting investigation and 12,000 pages of documentation including CAIR internal memos and emails."

Bloodsucking Leeches in High Places

By Rick Pearcey • October 15, 2009, 09:38 AM

Craige McMillan writes at WorldNetDaily:

We seem to be moving backwards at a breathtaking pace.

Instead of doctors caring for patients, and their family gathering around them when the time finally comes to say "goodbye," we've regressed to when barbers were "state of the art" medical providers.

Their remedy of choice (regardless of ailment) was bloodletting. The surgical tool they used to accomplish this was the bloodsucking leech.

Our federal government today consists of 535 bloodsucking leeches in Congress, legions of overpaid and ignorant staffers, innumerable czars in the executive and the lifetime federal judiciary they appoint. Who better to accomplish the "reform" of healthcare?

In addition to "reforming" health care, they are busy sucking the life blood out of America's Constitution.

They've created "administrative law," where the bureaucracy that "regulates" a person's livelihood also adjudicates disputes. So the enforcer is the judge. And the jury? Well, there is none.

How very convenient -- for a government of bloodsucking leeches.

"Does anyone imagine this can all end well?," McMillan asks.

Not a bad question. This sort of tyranny didn't sit well with our Founders. One wonders how well it sits with their posterity.

And for that reason today is officially Michelle Malkin Day at The Pearcey Report.

Thank you, Michelle, for striving in your work and in your family to uphold that which defines America at her best: America the free, the brave, under a verifiable and knowable God, and in community with our fellow man.

Let the well-deserved cheering, partying, and celebrating begin.

Books: Muslim Mafia -- "Now We Have Proof" Jihadis Infiltrating D.C.

By Rick Pearcey • October 14, 2009, 10:48 AM

Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret World That's Conspiring to Islamize America is offically released tomorrow. Here's a heads-up from WorldNetDaily:

In the wake of the sensational ACORN video sting operation by two young investigators, an even more daring, dangerous and devastating undercover investigation -- this one infiltrating the nation's most aggressive Muslim "civil rights" organization for six months -- has resulted in stunning revelations about the supposedly "moderate" group, backed up by 12,000 pages of documents and 300 hours of covert video obtained during the secret op.

As revealed in a new book detailing the operation and its findings, the Washington, D.C.-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, is not the beneficent Muslim civil-rights group it claims to be. Rather, as indisputable evidence now shows, CAIR and other "mainstream" Islamic groups are acting as fronts for a well-funded conspiracy of the Muslim Brotherhood -- the parent of al-Qaida and Hamas -- to infiltrate and destroy the American system.

Healthcare Snowe Job: 8 Things to Know

By Rick Pearcey • October 14, 2009, 10:23 AM

Robert M. Goldberg at American Spectator shares 8 things Americans might want to know about the "America's Health Future Act," which passed out of the Senate Finance Committee yesterday.

The Act is supposed to be "good for you," Goldberg notes. But missing in a set of committee "talking points," he writes, is "any straight talk about how the bill drives up health care spending, rations care and will force people to wait longer for less time with fewer doctors. Call it the Senate Finance Committee's 'Snowe Job.'"

If Rush Is a Racist, Are His 20 Million Listeners Also?

By Rick Pearcey • October 14, 2009, 09:44 AM

Lloyd Marcus speaks for millions of fair-minded, free-thinking, fact-oriented Americans in defending Rush Limbaugh against charges that he is a racist. Here is Marcus at American Thinker:

I have been a faithful Rush Limbaugh radio show listener for almost 20 years. I have never heard Rush make one racist comment. As a matter of fact, I am a black man who has been inspired and encouraged by Rush on numerous occasions. . . .

The media's charges of racism against Rush are totally based on supposed "racist quotes" which cannot be documented and comments knowingly taken out of context from his radio show.

As a member of Rush's weekly 20 million listening audience, I take the assault on him personally. If Rush is a racist, then isn't it logical to assume that we, his listeners, are equally guilty for tolerating his racism?

Obviously, Rush's accusers have never listened to his radio show or else have an agenda.

It is truly disheartening and infuriating to witness the media's frenzied character assassination of Rush built on falsehoods and hearsay without one shred of evidence.

Knowing the truth about Rush, how can I possibly trust any reporting by the mainstream media?

Hey Rove and O'Reilly: Wise Up on Constitution, Healthcare

By Rick Pearcey • October 13, 2009, 09:50 PM

Karl Rove and Bill O'Reilly discussed tonight on the "Factor" the non-read healthcare bill that passed a Senate committee today.

Do you know how many times the word "Constitution" passed their lips?

Zero times. Not once.

Is it not incumbent upon Congress and the White House to demonstrate chapter and verse where the U.S. Constitution authorizes the federal government to overhaul the U.S. healthcare industry?

And apart from such authorization is not such an imposition a form of tyranny?

I am willing to stand corrected, but is this not the crucial issue? Freedom. Constitutionality. Form and freedom under God.

Performances such as Rove's tonight suggest that he may be insufficiently aware of this principial imperative. Hence, by implication, the potential irrelevancy and end of the Republican Party as we know it. A death by a thousand pragmatic cuts -- unless it reemerges as a champion of Constitutional government rooted in Declarational norms.

Likewise, Bill O'Reilly -- whose journalism I appreciate -- does not seem to understand the ongoing Constitutional crisis that is represented by unending federal intrusions into the lives and upon the freedoms of the people, the states, and our individual liberties under God.

The crucial issue is freedom, not finances. Every tinhorn tyrant has a PR department willing to sell the positive and fair finances of the compassionate regime's latest agenda action point, be it healthcare, autobahns, or national respect among the nations of the world assembled at the UN.

But the Constitution is not optional, my friends. Not for the Founders. And not for those who would return America to freedom and dignity.

Here's a clue: If the Constitution, as written, is not at the heart of a political program, something is wrong, no matter what proponents might say about the finances or other putative benefits. Have you heard of bait?

"Give Me Healthcare or Give Me Death!"

Yes -- that's how ridiculous and alien to the American spirit and to the human spirit is this politically magnified crisis designed to separate American citizens from freedom, from self-government, from their wallets, and in the end, quality healthcare too. In return, the federal government gets to play God.

Millions of Americans, including the Tea Party people, increasingly understand this. And reject it. The Republicans, and some in the media, might want to wise up.

Why We Revolt: Show Me the Healthcare Bill!

By Rick Pearcey • October 13, 2009, 01:21 PM

Robert Knight writes at OneNewsNow:

Do you think Congress should vote on bills without reading them? How about voting on bills that don't even exist yet, except in fragments?

The Senate Finance Committee is poised to vote on a massive healthcare reform bill on Tuesday allegedly authored by Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.).

A glaring, outrageous, unreported fact is that the bill's actual text has been kept secret. No one actually knows what's in it -- not even the senators who will be told to vote for it.

The cruel, tyrannical fact is that it may not matter what's in the bill, which may or may not exist. With a "living" federal government imposing sociological law based on a "living" Constitution, the American people are "living" under increasing impositions of arbitrary, authoritarian government.

This is an affront to the humanity and dignity and creativity of the Man. It is an affront not just to the American spirit, but to the human spirit.

The answer is a cultural-political-spiritual reformation based on the real Constitution, the real Declaration, the real Bill of Rights, and that verifiable public figure otherwise known as the Creator, who has zero patience with being locked inside "faith" closets, privatized corners of feel-good spirituality, or secular cults that demand emperor worship -- with attendant tithes, offerings, and taxes -- of the gods of Mt. Washington.

The current regime, these "lord it over them" masters of the Potomac, is unworthy of the people's trust. They are unworthy of our Founders' blood. We, the posterity of that original greatest Founding generation, revolt.

Self-Censorship of Liberals: Too Scary to Watch

By Rick Pearcey • October 13, 2009, 12:29 PM

"The global warming fraud is a lesson in the self-censorship of liberals," writes James Lewis at American Thinker, "their fear of finding out the truth."

Sometimes, thinking freely can scare the horses. But it is essential to our humanity as creatures endowed by a Creator with "certain unalienable rights."

As an alternative to the regressive self-censorship James Lewis exposes, here is "Christmas Spirit in the Dirt," an essay that unfolds from this-world biblical data a liberating worldview that encourages freedom of thought, sales resistance to political messiahs, and a healthy skepticism to all future winners of Nobel Peace Prizes.

Tyranny Watch: White House vs. Fox News -- Video

By Rick Pearcey • October 12, 2009, 06:08 PM

America is waking up. America is beginning to see. But see what?

To see that the Obama Administration is on the wrong side of the Declaration, the Constitution, on the wrong side of the American people as a body politic formed in resistance to tyranny. And finally, on the wrong side of the Creator himself, who endows each of us with "certain unalienable rights" by virtue of having been created in His image.

Even though we human beings are fully capable of shooting ourselves in the foot (what theologians call "sin"), we the people nevertheless are beings of great nobility, of great worth, of great significance, and great creativity.

And even though cracked and broken, we are not junk. The Creator did not waste his time and blood initiating a resistance movement and sending a Son to fight and to set things right. You don't do that for pieces of cosmic junk or meaningless particles of matter in an absurd universe. You do that for magnificient works of art, for irreplaceable, unrepeatable creations of eternal value.

We are shaped in the image of an infinite-personal God, and on that basis we resist any idol of governmental tryanny (or any other kind, including religious) that elevates itself to levels of Diety, such that now that hubris known as "Washington" sees itself as the creator of human rights.

This is idolatry plain and simple, ending in tryanny plain and simple. And by similar measure of plainness and simplicity, a humanity empowered by God our true Creator will resist. This is who we are. We are empowered, not condemned, to be free.

Thus the captives are set free: from slavery, from amoral capitalism, from class warfarism, from Washington-centrism, from rogue principalities and powers, and from "every form of tryanny over the mind of man," as a former President once put it.

Now comes a cry-baby administration unable to face up to a U.S. news group, in a world where dictators and terrorists can do more -- and have done more -- than hit back with a few tough questions or a few inconvenient facts. Now the Obama regime is targeting Fox News. And here is a video report.

Fox News isn't the problem. Fox News is a messenger. And there are more messengers on the way. Millions of them.

Paris: McDonald's to Open at the Louvre

By Rick Pearcey • October 12, 2009, 10:10 AM

Peter Goddard writes at the Toronto Star:

News that a McDonald's is to open shortly in the bosom of the Louvre has sent waves of shock and horror worldwide. Appalled art lovers cringe at the possibility of the outlet serving up a juicy Double Da Vinci burger with a side of frites. Or a Francis Bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich.

Political Cult Watch: Obama's "Gay" Speech

By Rick Pearcey • October 12, 2009, 09:35 AM

In contradiction to verifiable information we have from our true Creator, the "Christian" Barack Obama seeks to impose upon American families his own privately held religious feelings about a set of pretend "rights" created by a political cult known as the homosexual lobby. Reason, fairness, facts, and humanity, not to mention the Creator, require a critical distance from this imposition and its attendant alien thoughtforms.

For more, in relation to the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy on homosexuals in the military, see "Obama's Gay Speech," by Robert Maginnis at Human Events.

Scientists Rebut Claim That Man Causes Global Warming

By Rick Pearcey • October 12, 2009, 09:01 AM

"As the world focused on President Barack Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, a small group of determined scientists gathered in a Senate office building to present evidence backing their claim that climate change is caused not by man but by nature, and that carbon dioxide is not a pollutant but the hope for a greener planet," reports CNSNews.com.

The Dole Family, Healthcare, and How to Kill the Republican Party

By Rick Pearcey • October 12, 2009, 08:43 AM

As C. Edmund Wright sees it, when it comes to the heart of the struggle against Washington-centrism and socialized healthcare, Bob and Elizabeth Dole are typically clueless, typically elitist, and typically forshadowers of defeat for the Republican Party.

Wright comments at American Spectator:

With victory in the health care debate and the 2010 midterms in sight and the disaster of John McCain's hands-across-the-aisle campaign still visible in the rear view mirror, the last thing conservatives and the GOP need is for Bob Dole to re-emerge and push to "get a bill signed."

But last week Dole, who has been on the government dole since Ike was planning D-Day, felt the need to continue to legislate. Actually, his unsolicited health care foray informs us as to what is killing the Republican Party -- even as the Democrats are doing all they can to implode in front of Saturday Night Live, Copenhagen and the world.

Pearcey Receives 2 Nobel Peace Prizes

By Rick Pearcey • October 9, 2009, 11:29 AM

There seems to be a lot of hubbub in the news about a U.S. President winning a Nobel Peace Prize.

Why the fuss?

Just today, I got two of them.

One was in a box of Cracker Jacks. The other came with breakfast at McDonald's.

Are they going to make Mr. Obama fly all the way over there to Norway to get his?

That's not fair. And won't there be a lot of exhaust?

American Thinker: Time Blows Lid on "Secret" Sarah Palin Ghostwriter

By Rick Pearcey • October 8, 2009, 08:33 AM

American Thinker raises the issue:

Time magazine has blown the lid on a secret ghost writer for one of the most well known political figures of our day and that person is . . . Sarah Palin.

That's right!

Not President Obama but Sarah Palin whose book titled Going Rogue: An American Life is set for release soon.

American Thinker faults Time for its politically slanted coverage, and writer Eric Tully makes several good points.

But let's move beyond the tactics of political coverage.

Ethical fairness would seem to require that whether one is talking about Barack Obama or Sarah Palin, the question is basically the same: Shouldn't readers, as a matter of simple honesty and truth in advertising, be able to tell who wrote a book by its cover? Of course they should.

Depending upon how much a writer "contributes," the cover of a book such as Going Rogue can state, for example:

* By Sarah Palin, or
* By Sarah Palin, as told to Lynn Vincent
* By Sarah Palin and Lynn Vincent
* By Sarah Palin With Lynn Vincent

And then the front matter of the book can give more details about how the book was written.

People's work should be respected, and it is biblically proper for their names to be attached to it, to receive proper and truthful credit and to alert others in the church and the culture to the presence of up-and-coming authors.

Individuality and creativity may be despised by the "machine" or by eastern religions, but there is nothing we have from our true Creator that hates or seeks to squash the individual per se. Sin, not the self, is the real challenge. The challenge is ethical, not ontological.

Along these lines, you may want to read, "Human Identity, Biblical Worldview, Creativity, and the Meaning of Work," by Udo Middelmann. Middelmann is president of the Francis A. Schaeffer Foundation in Switzerland. (More on Schaeffer here.)

Politics is downstream from culture, as former Capitol Hill staffer Bill Wichterman once said (and whom Nancy quotes in Total Truth: Liberating Christianity From Its Cultural Captivity).

A corrupt culture, including a corrupt publishing culture, may need to be uplifted and reformed -- to match the God-given dignity of the person, including nonfamous authors -- if we are to expect better results out of our political culture, whether that political culture is your local government or an all-too-un-Constitutionally rogue system entrenched and well-defended in Washington, D.C.

Capitol Hill is full of fake people doing pretend work, asking Americans to slavishly accept unread legislation imposed by a regime that prefers a dead Constitution (called "living") to the real written Constitution whose words continue to stoke the flames of freedom.

Millions of Americans respect Sarah Palin, and I am one of them. But it is crucial to maintain a humane, ethical, and factual critical distance. This is part of living free and being responsible in one's choices and affirmations.

Palin would serve herself and her cause well by insisting on truthfulness and transparency in publishing, including questions of authorship. The same calling holds true for any self-respecting collaborating author, under God and liberated by the Creator's high regard for the individual and the "work of our hands" (Ps. 90:17).

Let's hope Sarah Palin does not allow Going Rogue to be domesticated and co-opted by a secular ghostwriting ethos that says -- after you get behind the PR niceties -- it is OK to deceive one's readership for a good cause. In this regard, it seems legitimate to wonder why, given reports of a co-author, no co-author is currently noted on the cover of Going Rogue, as pictured on Palin's Facebook page and at Amazon.

Sometimes we hear about contracts and confidentiality agreements that keep a co-author or ghostwriter quiet. But two wrongs don't make a right.

Not even with a signed contract.

What? Because two or more people and a publisher agree to keep quiet, nuance, or otherwise deceive the reading public, it's OK? You think a holy God blesses that?

Perhaps not. The ends do not justify the means, nor do the means justify the ends.

More and more in our corrupt secular culture, ethics transcends legality.

Impeach Obama

By Rick Pearcey • October 8, 2009, 06:36 AM

Bob Unruh reports at WorldNetDaily:

A political activist who was behind the famous Willie Horton advertisement that left Gov. Michael Dukakis' candidacy for president floundering and was among the first to sound the alarm on the need for Bill Clinton's impeachment says the United States is collapsing around its citizens right now, but there is a defense.

"Make no mistake. We're now in the middle of a bloodless coup – the takeover of an entire nation by the hate-America crowd – a cold-blooded gang that despises America's prosperity, our standing in the world, our trust in God and our generosity and goodness," says political activist Floyd Brown in a column in WND

His suggested defense is nothing more or less than a strike at the emperor, plans which are detailed on the new Impeach Obama Campaign website.

Twisted Sister: For Language-Abuser Kevin Jennings, "Safe Schools" Means Pro-Homosexual-Propaganda Schools

By Rick Pearcey • October 8, 2009, 05:50 AM

Troy Silva writes at American Thinker:

Kevin Jennings is Safe School Czar not by some vetting breakdown.

He was an official in the Obama Campaign as it Gay-Lesbian-Bisexual fund-raising co-chair. For twenty years until 2008, Jennings succeeded on a massive scale at pro-homosexual propagandizing of school children.

His adeptness and accomplishment at semantic deception are extraordinary.

Audio: Obama "Safe Schools" Czar Criticizes Schools for Promoting Heterosexuality

By Rick Pearcey • October 7, 2009, 11:54 AM

From Breitbart TV: "Kids are being aggressively recruited to become heterosexuals in this country."

According to an editor's note at Breitbart, this "uncovered" audio is from "the speech Kevin Jennings gave at a GLSEN event in Iowa in 2000."

GLSEN refers to the Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network (see its support for the "Safe Schools Improvement Act").

The animosity of the Obama administration for the societal norms and content of the Declaration and the Constitution -- and the Judeo-Christian worldview upon which these documents rest philosophically -- continues to reveal itself in all the pastel colors of the liberal, secularist, homosexualist rainbow.

Free-thinking human beings who question authority, group think, and the creation of pseudo-rights on the basis of marketing campaigns (e.g., homosexual "rights"), to be imposed by neo-pagan secular elites, rebel.

Kevin Jennings needs to step down, the federal goverment needs to get out of the thoughtcamp business (public "schools"), and any U.S. president worthy of that Constitutional office needs to reform government on the basis of the Constitution (as written), or resign.

Otherwise, as Americans, we revolt.

Otherwise, as human beings endowed by our Creator with "certain unalienable rights," we revolt.

America lives in a dangerous world growing more dangerous with every passing day. We cannot afford sickness within the body politic.

Palin Facebook: More Than 10,500 "Like" Her Afghani-Stand

By Rick Pearcey • October 7, 2009, 10:47 AM

Sarah Palin writes on her Facebook page:

Our allies and our adversaries are watching to see if we have the staying power to protect our interests in Afghanistan.

I recently joined a group of Americans in urging President Obama to devote the resources necessary in Afghanistan and pledged to support him if he made the right decision.

Now is not the time for cold feet, second thoughts, or indecision -- it is the time to act as commander-in-chief and approve the troops so clearly needed in Afghanistan.

Child Molesting: From Pelosi to Polanski to Jennings

By Rick Pearcey • October 6, 2009, 12:18 PM

Jeffrey Lord concludes at American Spectator:

For a certain segment of American society -- a segment once presumed to be on the far fringes of an unimaginably unacceptable morality -- the idea that it's OK to molest children of either sex is just not a big deal.

Child molesting simply wasn't a big deal for Harry Hay. Nor for Nancy Pelosi, now the Speaker of the House. Not for Roman Polanski, or, apparently, for his famous friends in the filmmaking community either. Or for Kevin Jennings, he the school safety czar.

And not, apparently and shockingly, for the Obama Administration.

Wow.

Obama Moves to Muzzle Top Military Commanders

By Rick Pearcey • October 5, 2009, 11:08 PM

"Sources tell Newsmax the Obama administration is muzzling its top military leaders, and keeping them from publicly airing their views on how to fight the war in Afghanistan," reports David A. Patten at Newmax.

"The administration's primary target: top Afghanistan commander Gen. Stanley McChrystal, whose speech in London last week apparently caught administration officials off guard," writes Patten. Obama Eligibility Case Survives 1st Court Test

By Rick Pearcey • October 5, 2009, 10:49 PM

"A federal judge in California today listened to government lawyers argue that a lawsuit over President Obama's eligibility should be immediately dismissed but refused to grant their request, saying he would make his decision and announce it later," reports Bob Unruh at WorldNetDaily.

"The result came this morning from U.S. District Judge David Carter, who already has set a tentative trial date for the dispute Jan. 26, 2010," Unruh writes. "The judge also already had lawyers draw up a tentative schedule for hearings and deadlines in preparation for the trial."

Nazism and Socialized Medicine

Don't you dare point out in polite company that socialized medicine in Germany provided the mechanism for the Holocaust.

Don't do it.

Shock! Ahmadinejad Revealed to Have Jewish Past

By Rick Pearcey • October 3, 2009, 05:29 PM

Holocaust-denying Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's "vitriolic attacks on the Jewish world hide an astonishing secret," says the UK Telegraph.  "A photograph of the Iranian president holding up his identity card during elections in March 2008 clearly shows his family has Jewish roots."

"A close-up of the document reveals he was previously known as Sabourjian -- a Jewish name meaning cloth weaver," reports the Telegraph. "The short note scrawled on the card suggests his family changed its name to Ahmadinejad when they converted to embrace Islam after his birth."

One wonders how many of Ahmadinejad's Jewish family and relatives were murdered or otherwise liquidated in the Holocaust that never happened.

We Revolt: Community Cheers Cheerleaders for Jesus

By Rick Pearcey • October 3, 2009, 11:30 AM

OneNewsNow reports:

Friday night highschool football in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, took a backseat to a battle of another sort in the bleachers and on the sidelines.

Since 9-11 the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warrior's cheerleaders have been using scripture verses on the banners that the football team bursts through at the beginning of each game. However, that tradition has been banned by school authorities who fear a hefty lawsuit if they allow the practice to continue. Officials nixed the banners after receiving a complaint from one individual who claims she was offended by the verses. (cheerleaders perform for local news video)

In a surprising turn of events, community members have showed their overwhelming support for the cheerleaders who have since become media celebrities. A local youth pastor, Brad Scott, started a facebook page in their support and organized a rally at a local Chick-fil-a. That rally had to be moved when more than 1,100 supporters showed up. Now in another overwhelming show of support, members of the community showed up to Friday nights football game to cheer the cheerleaders.

Here's the high school website.

Culture Shock: Sarah Palin Thriving, Prospering, Winning

By Rick Pearcey • October 3, 2009, 10:40 AM

In "Palin's Revenge: Who's Laughing Now?," C. Edmund Wright at American Thinker writes:

Now correct me if I am wrong, but didn't I hear the Jurassic media bury the career of Sarah Palin just last July? And weren't they joined in this mockery by the so-called conservative elites like David Brooks and Karl Rove and Joe Scarborough and so on?

Wasn't Maureen Dowd just delirious in fact that the wicked witch (of her world) was dead?

Rio's Gain, Obama's Loss

By Rick Pearcey • October 2, 2009, 03:40 PM

As most people on Planet Earth now know, the Olympics will samba their way to Rio come 2016, despite the personal intervention of El Presidente Barack Obama himself, up close and personal in Copenhagen.

This means many things, among them this from the Washington Times:

The news of Chicago's early ouster was not good for Mr. Obama, political analysts said.

"I think this is instructive about how seriously the international community takes President Obama," said John Feehery, a former aide to Republican Dennis Hastert. "It seems they don't take him very seriously."

Mr. Feehery, a Chicago native, said the president's decision to "desperately swoop to dramatically save the Olympic bid backfired."

"Backfired"? That's already climbing the charts for understatement of the year.

What happened to Obama on the world stage today may well happen again here in the U.S. in 2010 and 2012. In fact, judging by the ferment on the ground, in communities, and on the airwaves, it looks as though a wave of freedom is gathering strength day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment, from faith to faith.

The Democrats, the Liberals, and the secularists -- and squishy Republicans -- have awakened a sleeping giant, as a strong American woman stood up and told a deer-in-the-headlights Sen. Arlen Specter not too long ago.

And that sleeping giant remembers something about the Declaration, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and about a Real Creator who has endowed each and every one of us with "certain unalienable rights."

We are remembering who we are.

Creatures of nobility and freedom -- with hard-wired aspirations of individuality and creativity and liberty one nation under God, such that no federal bureaucrat and no empire on any Potomac can ever hope to satisfy.

We are remembering how to grab ahold of God and revolt against tyranny and against enemies of freedom foreign and domestic.

Viva freedom! Viva dignity! Viva the Constitution! Viva the Declaration! Viva the Bill of Rights!

And, yes: Viva Samba! Rio's gain could be ours as well.

Palin Co-Author Probed, Obama's Ignored

By Rick Pearcey • October 2, 2009, 07:12 AM

From WorldNetDaily:

Politico's Ben Smith found it newsworthy that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin chose a "partisan evangelical" Christian to co-author her upcoming best-seller, but somehow he and the mainstream media have decided that serious evidence suggesting an unrepentant Marxist terrorist had a primary role in President Obama's highly acclaimed literary memoir is of no interest.

Not a single mainstream reviewer or political editor has so much as mentioned the controversy over authorship of Dreams from My Father that was resurrected last week when a major new book reported Obama sought the literary assistance of William Ayers, founder of the radical Weather Underground group, points out WND columnist Jack Cashill.

Obama Czar Seeks "Chilling Effect" on Internet

By Rick Pearcey • October 2, 2009, 06:11 AM

Regulatory Czar Cass Sunstein's new book, titled Rumors: How Falsehoods Spread, Why We Believe Them, and What Can Be Done, "delivers a warning to those who would spread false rumors about Barack Obama," writes Lee Cary at American Thinker.

Cary quotes the czar, page 88:

Some kind of chilling effect on damaging rumors is exceedingly important -- not only to protect people against negligence, cruelty, and unjustified damage to their reputations, but also to ensure the proper functioning of democracy itself.

"Of course," Cary observes and as all czars and protectors of democracy have always known, "creating a 'chilling effect' isn't censorship."

Nor, one suspects we are to believe, is such a "chilling effect" a denial of the Constitution, the 1st Amendment, or an unalienable right endowed upon all people by our true Creator (which is not the federal state).

In fact, to suggest censorship, to imply such a thing, or to charge such a thing -- against a patriotic protector of Democracy, no less -- why, that may well be an evil rumor spread on the internet. About which something ought to be done.

In the world of czars, Sunsteins, and Obamas, a visit from the Ministry of Love and Community Organized for the Protection of Democracy and Decency might be in order.

It's 3 a.m. What's that knock on the door?

Oh. They're just here to collect the fine and ensure the retractions are all in order. For a minute there, I was worried.

Since September 11, 2001, the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School cheerleading team in Catoosa County Georgia has been displaying banners with scripture verses during football games. One recent banner displayed Timothy 1:7 -- "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."

Now, however, the school has banned the use of the banners since receiving a complaint from a parent.

Brad Scott is a local youth pastor and president of the LFO class of 2004. He is leading the effort to get the banners restored, and says the use of banners with scripture verses is a student-led initiative and therefore does not violate separation of church and state.

Folks, the "separation of church and state" is a legal fiction imposed upon America by secular propagandists. Ditch it.

Memo to "Separationists": Please cite in the Declaration, the Constitution, or the Bill of Rights where this phrase occurs.

Please notice: These cheerleaders are not establishing a national state Baptist Church. Also, they are not Congress making a law limiting religious expression, etc., which is what the 1st Amendment forbids ("Congress shall make no law"): A Limit on Congress. Not on us. Get it?

Memo to Americans: Live free as human beings empowered and endowed by our Creator with "certain unalienable rights" -- among them the right tell the ACLU to take a hike.

Memo to MSNBC, CNN, ACLU, Congress, etc., etc.: Keep your un-American and inhumane church of secularism off our country, our states, our schools, our families, our choices.

Don't tread on us.

We revolt.

Film: Rediscovering God in America

By Rick Pearcey • October 1, 2009, 07:43 AM

"A new documentary detailing the history of the United States from the first colony in Virginia through the Civil War focuses on the beliefs of the nation’s founders and the written documents that grant each citizen freedom of religion and the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," reports Penny Starr at CNSNews.com.

"The film, Rediscovering God in America II: Our Heritage, is not a commentary on the Founding Fathers’ theology or lack thereof. It is an oral history using in the founders’ own words to describe how God played a role in America becoming a nation of religious liberty and tolerance."

Send Media a Pink Slip

By Rick Pearcey • October 1, 2009, 07:06 AM

WorldNetDaily is reporting that in a mere 6 days, 1.5 millions "pink slips" have been sent to Congress:

Seven days ago, it was just an idea to get the attention of Congress.

Now, the "Send Congress a Pink Slip" campaign is being called an "unprecedented success" and a historic grass-roots lobbying effort.

So far, after just six days, 1.5 million "pink slips" -- individually addressed notices to each member of the House and Senate, complete with sender's name and return address -- are on their way to the Capitol by Fed Ex courier letting every member of Congress know there's discontent back on the home front.

The "pink slips" specifically warn that senders will oppose in the next election any member of Congress who votes for more spending, intrusive legislation that restricts personal freedom and more big government programs.

Let us add: Not only should "pink slip senders" oppose those who vote for more spending, etc., I recommend that these activists seek and support replacement candidates who, as a matter of unshakeable philosophic conviction, political principle, and sacred honor will legislate on the basis of the norms and content -- as written -- of the Declaration, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.

"The 'pink slips" campaign is a real phenomenon," writes WND editor Joseph Farah at Twitter. He wonders "how long it will take the rest of the media to notice."

My question is this: How about a similar campaign for "the rest of the media" -- that is, for the "collaborationist media," often called the "state-run media" by the likes of Rush Limbaugh?

A slavish press given over to ideological passions needs to see the pink slip. It is guilty of betraying its calling as journalists to report honestly, fairly, and factually. And the American people in record numbers are turning away from propaganda mills formerly knows as news networks.

But the answer is not to replace it with a press given over to any political party. What is needed is a liberated press -- a press emancipated by a commitment to follow the facts and evidence wherever they might lead. If you are a journalist who cannot resist peer pressure or political passions -- or who cannot see or does not respect the difference between reporting and activism -- you are in the wrong business, my friend.

What's curious is that a journalistic commitment to objectivity is consistent with a commitment to the ideals of the Founders -- to a civilizational high point conceived in liberty under a knowable and verifiable God (this is the biblical mentality, by the way), where all human beings are created equal and every human being is endowed by the Creator with "certain unalienable rights."

The worldview that gives a reality-oriented basis for human freedom is also the worldview that gives a basis for fact and objectivity in human reporting (and modern science, by the way). This is no accident. It's part of the informational and incarnational key given by the Creator to help unpack the nobility and wonder of the human being in a salvific resistance against sin, death, decay, and every form of tryanny.
