Caution! Someone's Trying to Spin the Tea Party

By Rick Pearcey • October 28, 2010, 07:12 AM

Is the Tea Party concerned primarily with economic issues -- or is its deeper motivation that of a return to government based on the Constitution and Declaration?

Joseph Farah of WorldNetDaily takes a cautionary look in a column titled, "The Tea Party Redefined."

Black French Soccer Star Shocked by Lack of U.S. Racism

By Rick Pearcey • October 28, 2010, 05:41 AM

In column titled, "Why Socialism Breeds Racism," Ben Shapiro writes:

This week’s Sports Illustrated featured an article on French soccer star Thierry Henri. Henry, who is black, signed with the New York Red Bulls this season after spending over a decade playing in Europe. What shocks Henry most about America? Whereas European fans routinely insult and slur black players, Americans don’t.

The problem with socialism, according to Shapiro, is that it "rests on seeing people as members of groups, not as individuals. Rich sons are responsible for the existent or non-existent sins of their fathers; poor sons are due benefits because of their fathers’ tough lives."

This makes "racism is a critical element of the socialist agenda," because a "focus on group identity provides the only supposed moral justification for redistribution of wealth."

Shapiro concludes: "It’s no surprise that when socialism fails, racism bubbles beneath."

Christine O'Donnell Is Right About the 1st Amendment

By Rick Pearcey • October 27, 2010, 08:06 AM

"Newspaper and TV pundits bashing Delaware’s Christine O’Donnell with respect to the religion clauses of the First Amendment need to do some homework on the topic, as they obviously don’t know anything about it," writes author M. Stanton Evans at Human Events.

This column is a must read. Evans is author of many books -- particularly relevant on this topic is his work titled The Theme Is Freedom: Religion, Politics, and the American Tradition.

Obama Records Pro-Homosexual Video Message for Youth

By Rick Pearcey • October 26, 2010, 09:09 AM

"In a video message posted at the White House Web site  for the 'It Gets Better Project,' President Barack Obama decries the bullying of gay youth and says that homosexual youth should know there are 'caring adults who can help' and that, in time, 'things will get better,'" reports CNSNews.com.

Speaking of bullies, how about the Washington-centric federal government, the "pro-choicers" who have no problem destroying preborn American citizens, and the radical homosexual establishment that for years has been using tactics of intimidation and coercion to impose its private, extremist, immoral, and out-of-the-defining American mainstream (read: U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence) agenda upon the United States?

Under Obama & Co. things have not gotten better, they have gotten worse, and they will continue to get worse -- for these people continue to flout not just the Constitution and the Declaration but also "nature and nature's God."

Next Tuesday, on November 2, a people of freedom and diginity in community with the "Creator" -- whom Obama likes to fail to mention when quoting the Declaration of Independence -- will make official their first installment in the rebirth of freedom in America.

This is just the beginning of the struggle to reclaim liberty in America, but it signals the end of that utterly failed experiment of 60s-style extremism so precious to Obama & Co. and their assorted cadres of bully boys and bully girls.

So, yes, things will get better -- because there are caring adults in America who remember the rules for freedom, paid for in blood across battlefields from Yorktown to Omaha Beach to modern day Afghanistan.

Obama's propaganda machine can spin out however many messages it wants from the White House. None of that will overcome the message that the American people is sending, will send next Tuesday, and will continue to send until this anti-freedom rabble of radicals passes away into the oblivion it so richly deserves.

Nancy Pearcey Column in WPost Challenges Secularism in Schools

By Rick Pearcey • October 25, 2010, 02:44 PM

In a column titled, "Should Secularism Be Taught in Public Schools?" Nancy rejects the "dictates of political correctness" and argues that "no 'ism' should be privileged" in the public schools.

And that includes secularism, which is "radically dehumanizing" and undercuts the "worldview that inspired the American Founders, who maintained that human rights are 'endowed' by the Creator."

Far better, she writes, if students are encouraged to think through and examine for themselves the truth-claims of the competing "isms" we face in society today. Nancy explains how to proceed:

Every system of thought, to be taken seriously, must address the same fundamental questions: What is ultimate reality? What is human nature? What is the basis for morality? And so on. Using the neutral term worldview creates a level playing field that allows for objective contrast and comparison.

"Open debate encourages students to become genuinely critical thinkers," Nancy concludes. "Only free minds can create free societies."

For more on why and how secularism ought to be resisted, please see Nancy's new book, Saving Leonardo: A Call to Resist the Secular Assault on Mind, Morals, & Meaning.

Obama Strips "Creator" From Declaration of Independence -- Again

By Rick Pearcey • October 20, 2010, 07:29 AM

"For the second time in little over a month, President Barack Obama stripped the word "Creator" from the Declaration of Independence when giving a speech," reports Penny Starr at CNSNews.com.

Here is the text of the speech Barack Hussein Obama gave at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee dinner October 19 in Rockville, Maryland.

Words matter. The midterm election of November 2 is days away. I would suggest that a political party or president that cannot utter, affirm, defend, explain, and apply to government and policy that is at the very center of the American experiment should not hold power in the United States.

For such a person and such a party are not the friends of liberty.

Freedom should always have a friend, not an enemy, in the White House. And freedom should always have in the White House someone who understands from Whom and upon Whom that freedom rests -- and apart from Whom it goes away. Every office on Capitol Hill should understand this.

The defining center of the American experiment rests upon exactly that point where the Declaration places it: The Creator. To the degree that a president or a political party rejects that defining mainstream of the enduring American center, to that degree a president or a political party occupies the extreme.

If you are a politician of any party who would strip the Creator from your political or governmental practice or philosophy, a free people under God has an eminently healthy course of action to pursue: If you strip the Creator from the Declaration, you shall be stripped from office. You are a danger to the republic and have no business anywhere near the levers of power.

You shall be repealed and replaced by lovers of freedom who understand the true source of the "blessings of liberty."

UCLA's Emily Ekins Studies Tea Party "Racist" Signs

By Rick Pearcey • October 18, 2010, 11:03 AM

The Left Coast Rebel has pulled together a couple of videos from Fox News plus a report from the Washington Post. Something from Maureen Dowd, too.

And here's "Study: Media Significantly Exaggerate Racism at Tea Party," from Newsbusters.

Upshot: The Tea Party is not racist. Everybody surely must know this, but certain forms of community organizing in America require the pretense of racism to have something to fight against, raise money, stay in power, and transform America into the image of Barack Obama or whoever else is waiting in the left, left, left wings.

O'Reilly and The View

Shut Up, They Explained: Once again it was the uber tolerant "liberal way or no way" on full broadminded display yesterday as Bill O'Reilly dropped by to see the girls at "The View."

Bill should have known better than to utter the following fact: "Muslims killed us on 9/11." Whoopi and Joy walked out, their faith having been offended. But then they came back.

No doubt Islamic terrorists all over the world have begun loving America again. Or maybe not.

In any case, here's another fact: Liberals are killing America. Exhibit No. 1: Barack Obama.

Likely voters in battleground districts see extremists as having a more dominant influence over the Democratic Party than they do over the GOP.

This result comes from The Hill 2010 Midterm Election Poll, which found that 44 percent of likely voters say the Democratic Party is more dominated by its extreme elements, whereas 37 percent say it’s the Republican Party that is more dominated by extremists.

Paladino Spoke Truth About Homosexual Lie

By Rick Pearcey • October 13, 2010, 07:09 AM

Terry Jeffrey writes at CNSNews.com:

The establishment media have launched a brutal attack on Carl Paladino, New York’s Republican gubernatorial candidate, for this reason: Paladino spoke the truth about homosexual behavior.

For modern American liberals, there is no greater sin than to publicly express the view that there may be something wrong with homosexual activity and that children should not be taught to consider homosexual behavior morally equal to chastity and marriage.

No prominent politician who questions the wholesomeness of same-sex sex can escape a vicious beating by the liberal elite -- because these beatings serve a strategic purpose.

They are designed to intimidate good people out of seeking political office and sticking up for the truth. They are designed to uproot the laws and norms of our society from the immutable natural law that is the true foundation of our freedom. They are designed to destroy truth and promote a lie.

Pajamas Media Launches Voter Fraud Watch

By Rick Pearcey • October 12, 2010, 09:27 AM

From Mark Tapscott at the Washington Examiner:

Nobody knows with certainty how many illegal votes were cast in the 2008 presidential and congressional elections, but odds are the total was in the millions, thanks to systematic vote fraud campaigns by leftist groups such as ACORN and misguided laws that allow individuals to register and vote on the same day.

But Pajamas Media is doing something unique to combat this most lethal of threats to the integrity of government in a democratic republic, the Voter Fraud Project.

Beware Phony "Economic Conservatives"

By Rick Pearcey • October 2, 2010, 06:13 AM

"There is a struggle underway for the hearts and minds of the tea-party movement, conservatism and the Republican Party," Joseph Farah writes at WorldNetDaily. "So-called 'economic conservatives' are doing everything in their power to limit the scope of the movement to take back America to fiscal issues in the narrowest definition of that term."

Farah warns that "economic conservatives" are promoting an agenda "that is fundamentally flawed and wimpy compared to the vision of our founders, who understood we do not live in a world defined exclusively by materialism."

Farah argues that "you simply can't have a self-governing society without an operational consensus on right and wrong. All issues are moral" -- whether they concern "economics, border control, health care, marriage, or abortion."

What is Farah's solution? "There has never been a successful liberty movement in the history of the world built on materialism or an exclusively economic agenda. It's like building the foundation of a house on sand.

"Our founders knew better. They provided the foundation. It's still solid today. We don't have to build a new one. We can find it in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution."

Matt Barber: The "Gay" Deathstyle

By Rick Pearcey • October 1, 2010, 01:07 PM

In his most recent column, attorney and author Matt Barber writes:

One has to wonder if Reuters reporter Julie Steenhuysen will soon be joining the millions of other Americans relegated to Obama's swelling unemployment lines. She evidently didn't get the media memo last week and violated the goose-stepping left's Orwellian requirement that we all adhere to obtuse notions of political correctness.

Having contracted a rare case of journalistic objectivity, Ms. Steenhuysen penned a story that dared to detail a recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study on homosexuality.

The study exposed the jaw-dropping fact that one-in-five "gay" and "bisexual" men in American cities have been infected with HIV/Aids. Needless to say, this scandalous revelation completely blows out of the water the left's morally relative, propagandist line that homosexuality is "normal, natural and good."

To believers, it's never surprising when modern science serves to validate the transcendent truths found in Scripture (not that God's truth needs validating). James 1:15 warns: "Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death."

Indeed, it seems the common moniker "homosexual lifestyle" has it exactly backwards. As opponents of the extremist "gay" lobby have long illustrated, homosexuality falls dead center within our nation's burgeoning culture of death.

First, take that feminist rite of passage: abortion. Due to a national lack of sexual self-governance, in 2010 we find that -- post Roe v. Wade -- 50 million of God's precious children have been slaughtered at Satan's altar of euphemistic "choice."

Moreover, millions of self-styled "gay" men have -- as a direct result of homosexual conduct -- died from AIDS, syphilis, hepatitis and all other forms of homosexually transmitted disease.

Romans 1:26-27, which Obama once comically called an "obscure passage in Romans," addresses the homosexual deathstyle: "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."

It's tragic when people yield to disordered sexual temptations that can literally kill them spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Nobody with any compassion enjoys watching others "[receive] in themselves the due penalty for their perversion." But a corollary to free will is living -- or dying -- with the choices we've made.

Another problem lies in the fact that far too many Christians have contributed to the dilemma by failing to speak truth, in love, on the issue of homosexuality (pastors with "gay" congregants and family members, I'm talking to you). Nobody likes to be unfairly labeled a hater, "homophobe," or bigot, but fear of such attacks offers no justification for failing to speak truth in love. There are even self-professed Christians today who inexcusably join in with the secular-left in affirming homosexual sin as a good thing. There's a word for these types: apostate.

There's no wiggle room here. If you defend or seek to justify homosexual conduct, you defy God. Not good. As I recall, He's got a little something to say about "causing one of these little ones" to sin.

But even if you choose not to acknowledge biblical truth, you're still left without excuse. As the CDC has once again verified, if you affirm or defend homosexual behavior as "normal, natural and good," you also defy science. You're on the wrong side of history, let alone reality.

What is it about this particular PC-protected practice that causes so many otherwise intelligent people to become blinded blathering buffoons?

Let's say we had a group of people who defined their identity based upon a penchant for running headlong into brick walls. Oh, we'll call them, "Wallies." (Wally pride, baby!)

As significant percentages of Wallies began to drop dead, or suffer irreversible brain damage, do you suppose the left would demand tolerance for such behavior? Do you think they'd begin handing out bicycle helmets in elementary schools, telling kids to practice safe walling? With liberals, anything's possible, but I'm more inclined to think that even the moonbat left might agree that people tending toward such behavior would be best served to simply avoid running headlong into walls altogether.

I don't mean to be flip (okay, maybe a little flip) but can someone please tell me why on earth the left insists that we "tolerate" homosexual behavior while -- as the CDC has once again confirmed -- it continues to have results similar to brick walling?

We throw paper-thin latex condoms at kids who struggle with same-sex attraction and tell them: "You're gay! Embrace who you are. Gay pride, baby!"

We push them out onto a paper-thin latex tightrope with a one-in-five chance they'll plummet to their death.

What in the name of all things sacred are we doing? One-in-five with AIDS? Seriously? If five people got into a car and were told that one of them wasn't going to survive the drive, how quickly do you suppose they'd scatter?

Unnatural behaviors beget natural consequences. Scripture admonishes: "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

Do you consider yourself "gay" or lesbian? As untold thousands of ex-gays will tell you, you don't have to be. It's my most sincere prayer that going forward you'll choose Christ over sin: Life over death.

You think sexual "freedom" makes you happy? You should experience the true freedom that comes through abiding in He who is "the way, the truth and the life."

That's liberation.

Court Rejects Atheist Lawsuit Against National Motto at Capitol Visitor Center

By Rick Pearcey • October 1, 2010, 09:09 AM

"A federal court judge in Madison, Wis., has dismissed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of engravings of the National Motto -- "In God We Trust" -- and the Pledge of Allegiance at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C.," reports Pete Winn at CNSNews.com.
