Fake News: Socialist Ocasio-Cortez Spreads Hoax Stats on U.S. Mass Shootings

By Rick Pearcey • June 29, 2018, 04:14 PM

A.W.R. Hawkins writes at Breitbart:

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Candidate for U.S. Congress (D-NY), reacted to the lives lost in Annapolis by claiming the attack marked the 195th mass shooting this year.

She shocked the nation with a primary victory over Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY-14) on June 26, and is now spreading stats on mass shootings that are exponentially higher than actual shooting figures support.

"Horrifying," Ocasio-Cortez tweets: "This is our nation's 195th mass shooting -- this year."

"So Ocasio-Cortez is claiming 195 mass shooting in the first six months of this year, and if the same kind of math applies to the next six months, that will mean a claim of 390 mass shootings for the year," Hawkins observes.

"The left made similar claims in 2015, suggesting 355 mass shootings for the year," Hawkins writes.

That figure is "so far removed from reality that Mother Jones editor Mark Follman stepped in to correct the record. . . ."

NY Socialist Darling DENIES Celebrating, Campaigning With Anti-Semite and Racist

By Rick Pearcey • June 28, 2018, 09:24 AM

Benny Johnson reports at the Daily Caller:

Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez stunned the political world and rank-in-file Democrats by defeating incumbent Joe Crowley in Tuesday's New York primary.

The Ocasio-Cortez win signaled the growing swing leftward for national Democrats, a party undergoing a power struggle and identity crisis after Trump's election victory in 2016.

The platform Ocasio-Cortez ran on was deeply progressive, calling on the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, nationalized health care, universal jobs guarantee and getting America to 100 percent green energy.

"However, footage reveals that Ocasio-Cortez also has associates with regressive views," Johnson continues.

"One of Ocasio-Cortez's most enthusiastic campaigners and a man who stood behind her at her victory party, Thomas Lopez-Pierre, is a known anti-Semite and racist," according to the DC.

"Lopez-Pierre has regularly used slurs against Jewish and black New Yorkers in public forums and while running for office himself," the DC reports.

However, in an update to the DC report, Ocasio-Cortez states via Twitter

No idea who this guy is, hundreds of folks walked into the hall open to the public last night. I absolutely denounce any such bigoted and reprehensible statements.

The Ocasio-Cortez tweet seems plausible -- except that the lead photo accompanying the DC story shows the reported bigot just one person away from the socialist, behind her, as she is speaking during her victory party.

That circumstance seems far different from his simply being one among many others, positioned farther away in the crowd of supporters. It is possible that the lead photo seeming to document the event is photoshopped. We await further developments on this story.

Supreme Court: "Congress ... Delegated to the President Authority to Suspend or Restrict the Entry of Aliens"

By Rick Pearcey • June 27, 2018, 12:49 PM

From CNSNews.com:

A 5-4 majority of the U.S. Supreme Court ruled [June 26] that President Donald Trump acted within his legal authority when he issued a proclamation in September 2017 restricting entry into the United States of citizens from eight countries who could not be properly vetted as potential terrorist threats.

The majority opinion in Trump v. Hawaii -- written by Chief Justice John Roberts and joined by Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch and Anthony Kennedy -- held that Trump's proclamation was well within the plain meaning of the power granted expressly to the president in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).

"'By its plain language, §1182(f) grants the president broad discretion to suspend the entry of aliens into the United States,' Roberts wrote in the opinion of the court," CNSNews reports.

Judicial Watch Files House Ethics Complaint Against Maxine Waters for "Inciting Violence"

By Rick Pearcey • June 26, 2018, 12:00 PM

Jennifer Harper reports at the Washington Times:

Judicial Watch filed Monday an ethics complaint against Rep. Maxine Waters for “inciting violence and assaults on the Trump Cabinet," according to Tom Fitton, president of the watchdog organization.

The group sent a hand-delivered letter to the chairman and co-chairman of the House Office of Congressional Ethics calling for an investigation into whether the California Democrat violated House ethics rules by encouraging violence against Trump Cabinet members.

Establishment & Social Media Giants Fail to "Fact Check" Time Mag's Refugee Hoax Cover

By Rick Pearcey • June 25, 2018, 11:49 AM

Allum Bokhari writes at Breitbart:

There are many examples of bias at Facebook, Twitter, Google and the purportedly impartial "fact-checking" organizations they now rely on, but one of the best ways to reveal the naked partisanship hiding under their masks is to look at what they don’t fact-check.

Last week, Time ran a now-infamous cover featuring President Trump looming over a crying immigrant child. The picture of the crying child had already been shared hundreds of thousands of times on social media amid left-wing outrage over what the media has called a "family separation policy" at the border.

"The cover, the Time story that accompanied it, and the original image that spread on social media, were misleading in every way," Bokhari continues.

"As Time now admits, the child wasn't 'carried away screaming' by border patrol agents. They were kept together. The child wasn't crying because she was separated from her mother -- she was, in her mother's own words, simply “'ired and thirsty.' Moreover, the child's father says her mother was seeking a job in America, and not 'fleeing violence' in Honduras as some claimed," Bokhari writes.

Rasmussen: Voters Blame Parents Illegally Crossing Border for Separations

By Rick Pearcey • June 22, 2018, 11:04 AM

Theodore Bunker reports at Newsmax:

Most voters, when asked who is to blame for separating the families found illegally crossing the border, blamed the parents and not the government, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll.

Rasmussen asked voters: "When families are arrested and separated after attempting to enter the United States illegally, who is more to blame -- the parents for breaking the law or the federal government for enforcing the law?"

According to Newsmax, Rasmussen found that 54% blame parents, 35% blame government, and 11% are unsure.

Student Sues University for $3.6 Million After It Targeted Her for Showing Jordan Peterson TV Clip on Using Pronouns

By Rick Pearcey • June 21, 2018, 10:49 AM

James Risdon reports at LifeSiteNews.com:

It's quiet at the Rainbow Centre at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Closed for the summer, no one answers the phones. Toby Finlay, the former administrator for that LGBTQ "safe space" on campus, is no longer there. He has graduated and moved on. Or so claims a representative of the Rainbow Centre in a Facebook message.

The stir sparked by that LGBTQ association at Wilfrid Laurier University last year, though, is still here.

And it's now grown into a $3.6-million lawsuit against the university and some of its staff by former teaching assistant Lindsay Shepherd.

"She is taking on the university, associate professors of communication studies Drs. Herbert Pimlott and Nathan Rambukkana, and also Adria Joel, then the university's acting director of Diversity and Equity Prevention," LifeSiteNews continues.

"In a statement of claim filed in Ontario's Superior Court last week, Shepherd alleges she has suffered attacks which have left her 'unemployable in academia' and have forced her to abandon her doctoral studies or even teach at a university as a master's graduate," LifeSiteNews reports.

"Shepherd has suffered nervous shock as a result of the conduct of the defendants which was the foreseeable and intended result. In the alternative, it was the reasonably foreseeable outcome of their conduct and the defendants were negligent in their treatment of her," the statement of claim asserts, according to LifeSite.

"It all started with a complaint filed by university's Rainbow Centre staff in November last year after Shepherd showed a clip of a TV Ontario show featuring a discussion about pronoun usage in Canada. Shepherd's class was then studying pronouns," LifeSiteNews reports.

Michigan Woman Who Lied About Being Raped at College Sentenced to Jail

By Rick Pearcey • June 20, 2018, 12:52 PM

Nicole Darrah reports at Fox News:

Mary Zolkowski, 21, was sentenced to 45 days in jail after pleading guilty to fabricating a story about being sexually assaulted in a parking lot at Delta College in Bay County, MLive.com reported.

Truth claims -- propositions concerning reality -- need to be rationally assessed and evidentially tested, whether they concern accusations of rape or racism, or whether they concern assertions regarding the existence of God or of black holes or of that car that may hit you if you close your eyes and cross the street.

The fool says in his heart: Evidence is not needed.

MALE "Transgen" Teens Beat GIRLS Top Track Competition, Prompting Parent Petitions

By Rick Pearcey • June 19, 2018, 01:55 PM

Craig Bannister reports at CNSNews.com:

Parents have launched two rule change petitions after two transgender high school students swept the Connecticut girls’ state track and field competitions.

As local station WTNH News 8 reports, sophomores Terry Miller and Andraya Yearwood --  both of whom were born males, but now identify as females -- outcompeted genetic female athletes, which some female athletes and their parents say is unfair.

Memo to all concerned: Boys will be boys, and girls with be girls -- no matter how much sex-ed/transgen ideology authoritarian schools pour into students and parents skulls, and no matter how many drugs are prescribed and how many slice and dice surgeons make millions trying to "fix" the given, biological, factual, scientific natural order -- which just happens to relish male-female sexual diversity.

No "Immigrants" Were Killed in High Speed Chase With Border Patrol

By Rick Pearcey • June 18, 2018, 08:59 AM

Ed Straker writes at American Thinker:

The media, including, incredibly, Drudge, were reporting that "immigrants" had been killed in a high speed chase with the border patrol.

I investigated the news reports, and can assure you that there is no evidence that a single immigrant was harmed.

This is a classic example of fake news.

The border patrol gave chase to three suspicious vehicles in south Texas. One of the vehicles, filled with 14 people, fled at 100 miles per hour and flipped over, ejecting a number of occupants.

At least five people were killed and several others injured when an SUV believed to be carrying [so-called] undocumented immigrants crashed in southern Texas after being chased by Border Control agents. [Brackets added]

The occupants, however, were not immigrants of any kind.

Immigrants don't squeeze 14 people into an SUV and run away from the border patrol.

That's what illegal aliens do.

Kevin Hart Camp Responds to Kathy Griffin Smear

By Rick Pearcey • June 15, 2018, 12:50 PM

Ben Kew reports at Breitbart:

Sources close to comedian Kevin Hart rebuked Kathy Griffin after the controversial comedian attacked him for failing to go after President Donald Trump in his stand-up shows.

"Kathy is the last person on Kevin’s mind, believe me," sources close to the 38-year-old actor told Fox News.

"Everyone has something to say about Donald Trump, and that's the reason Kevin isn't speaking on him. Kevin honestly feels the Trump bits are overused and knows that people are tired of the political banter from comedians."

"Going after people isn't Kevin's style, and he isn't into telling people what they should or shouldn't think about the President," the source continued.

"Kevin would much rather stick to what he already does well, and that's telling jokes that resonate with people on a personal level."

"The response comes hours after Griffin criticized Hart for not mentioning Trump in his comedy routines, describing it as a [p---y move] because he is black," Breitbart reports.

Cops Livid: School Reading List "Almost an Indoctrination of Distrust"

By Rick Pearcey • June 14, 2018, 11:15 AM

Douglas Ernst reports at the Washington Times:

Police in the South Carolina town of Mount Pleasant are furious over a school's summer reading list they view as anti-cop indoctrination.

Fraternal Order of Police Tri-County Lodge #3 President John Blackmon told a local NBC affiliate this week that livid parents contacted him regarding Wando High School's summer reading list. He says two of four books offered to incoming freshmen for an English I class sow distrust of law enforcement in their fertile minds.

"Freshmen, they're at the age where their interactions with law enforcement have been very minimal," told the Charleston station on Monday. "They're not driving yet, they haven't been stopped for speeding, they don't have these type of interactions. This is putting in their minds. It's almost an indoctrination of distrust of police and we've got to put a stop to that.”

"Wando Principal Dr. Sherry Eppelsheimer released a statement saying a Request for Reconsideration of Instructional Materials has been received," the WTimes reports.

"I understand two of the selections/choices for this summer's reading list for English 1 College Prep classes are considered controversial by some members of our community. I appreciate their concern and input regarding this matter," Eppelsheimer wrote, according to the WTimes.

Read: Text of Trump-Kim Joint Statement

By Rick Pearcey • June 12, 2018, 04:44 PM

What follows is the full text of the joint statement signed by U.S. President Donald J. Trump and North Korea dictator Kim Jong Un at the Singapore Summit -- issued June 12, 2018:

President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) held a first, historic summit in Singapore on June 12, 2018.

President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un conducted a comprehensive, in-depth, and sincere exchange of opinions on the issues related to the establishment of new U.S.–DPRK relations and the building of a lasting and robust peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. President Trump committed to provide security guarantees to the DPRK, and Chairman Kim Jong Un reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Convinced that the establishment of new U.S.–DPRK relations will contribute to the peace and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula and of the world, and recognizing that mutual confidence building can promote the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un state the following:

  1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.–DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
  2. The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
  3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
  4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

Having acknowledged that the U.S.–DPRK summit -- the first in history -- was an epochal event of great significance in overcoming decades of tensions and hostilities between the two countries and for the opening up of a new future, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un commit to implement the stipulations in this joint statement fully and expeditiously. The United States and the DPRK commit to hold follow-on negotiations, led by the U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, and a relevant high-level DPRK official, at the earliest possible date, to implement the outcomes of the U.S.–DPRK summit.

President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have committed to cooperate for the development of new U.S.–DPRK relations and for the promotion of peace, prosperity, and security of the Korean Peninsula and of the world.

Weak: Twitter CEO Caves to Lib Backlash, Says Was Wrong to Eat at Chick-Fil-A

By Rick Pearcey • June 11, 2018, 10:08 AM

Peter Hasson reports at the Daily Caller:

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on Sunday expressed regret over eating at Chick-fil-A, because of the chicken company’s CEO's personal views on gay marriage.

Dorsey tweeted a screenshot from his phone that showed a purchase he had made at Chick-fil-A using a mobile application. After a liberal backlash, however, Dorsey apologized for eating at the popular fast food restaurant.

At issue was Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy's 2012 support for defining marriage as between a man and a woman, which he described as "the biblical definition of a family."

Reactionary liberals aren't just in your bedrooms and bathrooms, but they're in your salad bowls and chicken sandwiches.

These fake lovers of tolerance are ready to hate and pounce upon any violation of their masters' code of ethics.

Slaves -- which apparently includes Twitter's CEO -- know how high to jump when the extremist whip is cracked.

But humans question and intelligence revolts.

56 Lawmakers Sign Letter Calling for Probe of Planned Parenthood Sex-Abuse Cover-Up

By Rick Pearcey • June 8, 2018, 04:05 PM

Virginia Kruta reports at the Daily Caller:

Fifty-six lawmakers have signed off on a letter, addressed to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar II, calling for an investigation into Planned Parenthood over allegations that the abortion-provider has covered up evidence of child sex abuse.

According to the DC, the June 7 lawmakers' letter (following a report by Live Action) includes the following:

The [Live Action] report's findings suggest that abusers feel comfortable taking their victims to Planned Parenthood.

We are therefore requesting an investigation into Title X recipients, particularly Planned Parenthood, to determine how widespread this failure is and if there are other instances where Planned Parenthood failed in its duty to report suspected child abuse to local authorities and to HHS.

The DC concludes: "Live Action's report, along with a series of videos, allege[s] Planned Parenthood has been complicit in covering up such crimes by allowing abortions to be performed on girls as young as 12 without notifying authorities. Since 12 is below the age of consent in all 50 states, failure to report such an abortion is considered the failure to report a crime under Title X."

Sickey Mouse: Disney Hired Convicted Child Molester to Work on 2006 Kids Show

By Rick Pearcey • June 7, 2018, 12:31 PM

Doug Mainwaring reports at LifeSiteNews:

Disney is facing backlash after news resurfaced of it hiring in 2006 a man to work on a children's series who was convicted of sexual crimes against children two years previously.

Brian Peck was found guilty in 2004 of lewd acts against a child as well as oral copulation with a child. The child was reportedly a Nickelodeon star.

While Peck pleaded "no contest" to these two charges, his original charges also included sodomy and attempted sodomy with a child, using a child for sex acts, and sexual penetration by foreign object with a child. . . .

"While the Disney brand is ostensibly built on child and family-oriented programming, parents and pro-family organizations have expressed outrage over the brand's promotion of the LGBT agenda as well as other politically correct viewpoints," LifeSite reports.

I'm Black and Conservative -- Democrats Don't Own Me

By Rick Pearcey • June 6, 2018, 01:00 PM

Clemson University's Stone Washington writes at College Fix:

As a conservative black college student, I've had my fair share of arguments, accusation and insults. But I refuse to back down. Here's why.

I've learned from my father, Professor Ellis Washington, that we are free to choose our own path, one that can and should diverge from the Democrat Party -- the perceived norm for Black people.

My father taught me how the Left has a dark history of despising the combination of "Black" and "conservative," which shatters their warped paradigm of how all Blacks owe allegiance to the Democrat Party, envisioning themselves as the party that freed Blacks from slavery and condemned racism (they didn't, it was the Republicans).

"In a sense," Washington continues, "I have freed my mind from the invisible chains of servitude to a party I owe nothing to, yet a party that demands my allegiance."

What Changed? Guns Then, America Now

By Rick Pearcey • June 5, 2018, 01:45 PM

Walter Williams writes at Frontpagemag.com:

I am part of a group of about 50 million Americans who are 65 years of age or older. Those who are 90 or older were in school during the 1930s. My age cohort was in school during the 1940s. Baby boomers approaching their 70s were in school during the 1950s and early '60s.

Try this question to any one of those 50 million Americans who are 65 or older: Do you recall any discussions about the need to hire armed guards to protect students and teachers against school shootings?

Do you remember school policemen patrolling the hallways? How many students were shot to death during the time you were in school? For me and those other Americans 65 or older, when we were in school, a conversation about hiring armed guards and having police patrol hallways would have been seen as lunacy. There was no reason.

What's the difference between yesteryear and today? The logic of the argument for those calling for stricter gun control laws, in the wake of recent school shootings, is that something has happened to guns. Guns have behaved more poorly and become evil. Guns themselves are the problem. The job for those of us who are 65 or older is to relay the fact that guns were more available and less controlled in years past, when there was far less mayhem.

Something else is the problem.

Supreme Court Sides With Baker Who Refused to Make Homosex Wedding Cake

By Rick Pearcey • June 4, 2018, 12:17 PM

Over at Hannity.com, the staff posts:

The United States Supreme Court released a highly anticipated decision Monday morning, siding with a Colorado baker who refused to make a same-sex wedding cake.

In a surprise 7-2 decision, the court discounted an earlier ruling against the baker in a Colorado court, but refused to go so far as to decide the broader issue of whether American businesses have the basic right to refuse service to same-sex couples over religious beliefs.

"The Commission's hostility was inconsistent with the First Amendment's guarantee that our laws be applied in a manner that is neutral toward religion," wrote Justice Kennedy.

The decision went on to say the "broader issue must await further elaboration"

"The reason and motive for the baker's refusal were based on his sincere religious beliefs and convictions. The Court's precedents make clear that the baker, in his capacity as the owner of a business serving the public, might have his right to the free exercise of religion limited by generally applicable laws," wrote Kennedy, according to Hannity.com.

NFL Teams Sent Scantily Clad "Alternate Cheerleaders" to Mingle With Male Fans

By Rick Pearcey • June 1, 2018, 02:34 PM

Ryan Gaydos reports at Fox News:

NFL teams reportedly use "alternate cheerleaders" to mingle with fans in the seats or in luxury boxes while the actual performers are on the field during game days.

The Washington Redskins, Houston Texans, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens are among the teams who use a separate cheerleading roster to serve as "scantily clad ambassadors" whose jobs are to mingle with male fans, the New York Times reported Thursday.

The Redskins, in particular, have come under fire over the last month for the way team officials have used the cheerleading squad in the past. Several Redskins cheerleaders told the Times in May that they felt they were being used as escorts during a photo shoot in Costa Rica.

Memo to NFL teams: If this report is accurate, you need to clean this up. Just like you need clean up those simple-minded (even if sincere by some) protests during the national anthem.

In both cases the NFL should be slime-free, showing respect for women and for the empowering, liberating, and humane ideals upon which the American body politic and ethos are founded.
