Classmate: Obama's Plan to Bring "the System Down" Hatched at Columbia University

President Obama and I were college classmate at Columbia University, class of ’83.

I know all too well how mindlessly liberal the students and faculty of that institution can be, and Barack Obama is certainly no exception.

My time at Columbia made it crystal clear: liberals always believe they are morally superior.

While they publicly state that their mission is to save the world from prejudice, patriotism, racism, greed, and inequality, they are, in fact, hostile and resentful towards anyone who has achieved self-made success through American values.

It is in this cesspool of intolerance that Obama and his Marxist cronies hatched a secret plan to destroy our country. They openly hated America -- calling it racist. They hated capitalism -- and vowed to bring "the system down."

In an article titled, "Lesbian Activist’s Surprisingly Candid Speech: Gay Marriage Fight Is a 'Lie' to Destroy Marriage," Mike Opelka writes at The Blaze:

A 2012 speech by Masha Gessen, an author and outspoken activist for the LGBT community, is just now going viral and it includes a theory that many supporters of traditional marriage have speculated about for years: The push for gay marriage has less to do with the right to marry -- it is about diminishing and eventually destroying the institution of marriage and redefining the "traditional family."

We noted Ms. Gessen's remarks in August 2012, in a Pro-Existence post titled, "Pro-Same-Sex 'Marriage' Lesbian: 'Institution of Marriage Should Not Exist.'"

Ms. Gessen's remarks are also commented upon March 13 of this year in "The Revolt of Intellience Against 'Marriage Equality," published at The Pearcey Report and American Thinker.

I'm encouraged to see this information made available to another circle of readers. It was also discussed on the Glenn Beck radio show yesterday.

Mom Dons Burqa, Rescues Kidnapped Son in Egypt

Through the slit of the burqa she wore to blend in on the streets of Alexandria, Egypt, Kalli Atteya waited and watched until the boy climbed off the school bus. When she saw him, she moved quickly, grabbing his arm and steering him toward the waiting motorized cart.

"Get in," she said to the 12-year-old, who recognized his mother's piercing blue eyes and obeyed wordlessly.

Soon, they were speeding toward a safehouse where they would wait for three weeks before returning to the U.S., and ending a 20-month ordeal that began with another abduction -- one the boy, Khalil Mohamed "Niko" Atteya, did not accept willingly.

"His father, Mohamed Atteya, who is wanted by the U.S. authorities, is accused of luring the mother and son to his homeland, then snatching the boy and leaving Kalli Atteya and her sister on the side of a desolate road between Cairo and Port Said on Aug. 1, 2011," reports Fox.

"My Dad forced me to be Muslim, which I did not want to do," Niko is quoted as saying.

Colombian Senate Overwhelmingly Rejects Homosexual "Marriage"

The Senate of Colombia voted down a bill to create homosexual "marriage" yesterday by an overwhelming majority of 51-17, with 32 senators either not present or abstaining.

The defeat of the bill means that it will not pass to the lower Chamber of Deputies, and is effectively dead. However, the country is rapidly approaching a deadline set by the Constitutional Court in a July 2011 ruling requiring homosexual couples to be given benefits similar to those associated with marriage.

Michael Bloomberg’s Creepy Authoritarianism

So, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg believes that the public’s interpretation of the Constitution must evolve in the face of terror attacks such as the one in Boston. "You’re going to have to have a level of security greater than you did back in the olden days," the man explained, "and our laws and our interpretation of the Constitution, I think, have to change."

Of course he thinks they do. That’s why we have constitutions -- so they can be changed in tumultuous times. As Bloomberg sees it, the first obligation of government is to keep your "children safe." How this wide-ranging duty affects other societal concerns -- liberty, cost, etc. -- is largely irrelevant because . . . well, because toddlers are cute. Those tobacco-addicted Founding Fathers didn’t have the decency to include a single line about keeping Americans salubrious or children.

"Bloomberg is an authoritarian," Harsanyi continues. "He’s not an authoritarian in the way Josef Stalin or Pol Pot was authoritarian, but every instinct tells you he’s a man who would use any power given to him to govern every aspect of public and private life whenever necessary -- or, more precisely, whenever he finds it necessary, which is frequently. All said, he’s exactly the type of person who makes the Constitution a necessity."

Fittingly, it is also the birthdate of Communist Party creator Vladimir Lenin, a reality that the radical environmentalists responsible for the creation of Earth Day dismiss as a mere coincidence. Yet there is little question that under the guise of "saving the planet," the earth-firster crowd would be more than willing to impose the same kind of totalitarian control over the masses envisioned by Lenin.

Update: Did Adam and Eve Really Exist?

In February 2012, Richard P. Belcher, Jr., professor of Old Testament studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC, offered a critical review of Did Adam and Eve Really Exist?, by C. John Collins of Covenant Theological Seminary.

In that review, Belcher said a "line in the sand must be drawn in the affirmations of the full historicity of Genesis 1-11 and the acceptance of how God created Adam and Eve in Genesis 2."

In his reply to Belcher, Collins wrote, "I would like for the person reading my book to come away thinking that the Bible writers all wanted us to believe that the human kind is actually one family, with one set of ancestors for us all. God acted specially (or 'supernaturally') to form our first parents, Adam and Eve. Our first ancestors, at the headwaters of the human race, brought sin and dysfunction into the world of human life."

In his reply Belcher discusses what he regards as the "main issues arising from the substance" of Did Adam and Eve Really Exist?, among them that Collins "is willing to accept the possibility that there were more human beings than just Adam and Eve at the beginning of mankind, who existed as a tribe, with Adam being the chieftain of the tribe (pp. 121, 125)."

Chinese Christians Choosing "Theology of Resistance"

In China, Christianity is growing so fast that the Chinese may well become the majority within the Christian world. And which "brand" of theology are they choosing? Calvinism -- because it is a "theology of resistance" to unjust power, noted Andrew Brown in the U.K. Guardian in 2009. To quote from Brown:  

Calvinism isn't a religion of subservience to any government. The great national myths of Calvinist cultures are all of wars against imperialist oppressors: the Dutch against the Spanish, the Scots against the English; the Americans against the British. So when the Chinese house churches first emerged from the rubble of the Cultural Revolution in the 80s and 90s "They began to search what theology will support and inform [them]. They read Luther and said, "not him." So they read Calvin, and they said, "him, because he has a theology of resistance."

On HBO’s "Real Time" on Friday night, host Bill Maher entertained CSU-San Bernardino professor Brian Levin, director of the Center for Study of Hate and Extremism, who maintained that despite the events in recent days, religious extremism isn’t only a product of Islam.

But Maher took issue with that claim, calling it "liberal bull----" and said there was no comparison.

"You know what, yeah, yeah," Maher said. “You know what -- that’s liberal bull---- right there . . . they’re not as dangerous. I mean there’s only one faith, for example, that kills you or wants to kill you if you draw a bad cartoon of the prophet. There’s only one faith that kills you or wants to kill you if you renounce the faith. An ex-Muslim is a very dangerous thing. Talk to Salman Rushdie after the show about Christian versus Islam. So you know, I’m just saying let’s keep it real."

Firebomb Terrorist Who Targeted My Dad Now a Professor

In a "Tale of Two Terrorists," John M. Murtagh recalls at the NYPost:

Forty-three years ago last month, Kathy Boudin, now a professor at Columbia but then a member of the Weather Underground, escaped an explosion at a bomb factory operated in a townhouse in Greenwich Village. The story is familiar to people of a certain age.

Three weeks earlier, Boudin’s Weathermen had firebombed a private home in Upper Manhattan with Molotov cocktails. Their target was my father, a New York state Supreme Court justice. The rest of the family, was presumably, an afterthought. I was 9 at the time, only a year older than the youngest victim in Boston.

One of Boudin’s colleagues, Cathy Wilkerson, related in her memoir that the Weathermen were disappointed with the minimal effects of the bombs at my home. They decided to use dynamite the next time and bought a large quantity along with fuses, metal pipes and, yes, nails. The group designated as its next target a dance at an Officer’s Club at Fort Dix, NJ.

"Despite the misgivings of some, it is reported that [now Columbia professor] Kathy Boudin urged the use of 'anti-personnel bombs,'" Murtagh writes. ”In other words, she wanted to kill people not just damage property. Before they could act, her fellows were killed in the townhouse explosion. The townhouse itself collapsed; Boudin fled."

Murtagh recounts that Boudin "reappeared over a decade later driving the getaway car for the rag tag mix of Weathermen and Black Panthers who held up a Rockland County bank in 1981, murdering three in the process."

According to Murtagh, "survivors of the ambush along the New York State Thruway recount how Boudin emerged from the driver’s door, arms raised in surrender, asking the police to lower their guns. When they did, her accomplices burst from the back of the van guns blazing."

Some of today's readers may not be of an age to remember this history. No worries, for "Robert Redford is kindly about to release a movie recounting the Rockland robbery (albeit relocated to Michigan). By all accounts, the film lionizes the Weather Underground terrorists, Boudin and her accomplices," Murtagh writes.

"Other than the passage of time," Murtagh notes, "one can find no real distinction between the cowardly actions of last Monday’s Boston murderer and the terror carried out by Boudin and her accomplices. Yet today we live in a country where our leading educational institutions see fit to trust our children’s education to murderers and Hollywood sees fit to celebrate terrorists."

A certain scrubbing of a certain history may be in order, however. For example, Murtagh directs us to the website of Columbia’s School of Social Work, which "sums up Boudin’s past thus: 'Dr. Kathy Boudin has been an educator and counselor with experience in program development since 1964, working within communities with limited resources to solve social problems.'"

Murtagh concludes: Perhaps "Monday’s bomber can explain that, like Boudin, he was merely working within the community to solve social problems."

Professors: Pro-Life Students “Appear to Have a Lot in Common With Those Who Supported Lynching��?

Idealistic young men and women at the University at Buffalo may have dedicated their lives to protecting the unborn, but according to some of their professors, they are similar to Americans "who supported lynching."

Six history professors swiftly condemned the campus chapter of Students For Life after a university-approved display stirred controversy.

The six professors are:

* Susan Cahn, Professor of History
* Carole Emberton, Assistant Professor of History;
* Theresa Runstedtler, Assistant Professor of American Studies;
* Lakisha Simmons, Assistant Professor of Global Gender Studies;
* Victoria Wolcott, Professor of History; and
* Jason Young, Associate Professor of History

"As a student in the history department and president of the pro-life club on campus, not only am I ashamed and appalled that my professors twisted our message to suit their point of view, but I am offended due to their false characterization of our argument," Students for Life chapter President Christian Andzel is quoted as responding. "We were citing the history of oppression and voicelessness of the victims who deserved human rights and justice."

"This is not the kind of example professors from a public university, funded with our tax money, should be setting for our students,” Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins is quoted as saying.

"We stand with UB Students for Life," Hawkins continued, "for courageously fighting to bring the truth of abortion to a liberal campus, despite attempts to shout them down, cover the display, and personally attack group leaders like President Christian Andzel."

This photo of the 19-year-old "Suspect 2" (real name either Dzhokhar or Djohar A. Tsarnaev), who is currently terrorizing Boston is now circulating on social media. According to Russia Today, here is his social media profile.

The profile identifies the man as Muslim, with his world view listed as "Islam." The birthdate on the social media profile matches the birthdate of Tsarnaev provided by the FBI. . . .

Shock! Christian Ministry Affirms Truth, Not Mere "Belief"

In "The Seduction of Relativism," author, blogger, and friend Darrow Miller of Disciple Nations Alliance (DNA) explains why the global ministry he co-founded now publicly "Affirms Truth and Not Merely Belief."

As you will see in his post, Darrow's journey, and therefore that of DNA, has been shaped significantly by his explorations at L'Abri Fellowship in Switzerland, which exposed him to the strategic work of Francis and Edith Schaeffer while Darrow and wife Marilyn were living in the chalet of Udo and Debby (Schaeffer) Middelmann.

In his post, Darrow mentions recent dialogue he and I have been having regarding questions of truth versus belief. He concludes: "Rick, thank you for your gentle but clear admonition! Thank you for seeing again the seductiveness of relativism. As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17)!"

My reply: Thank you, Darrow and DNA, for the opportunity to engage in fruitful dialogue! As for my part, I want to say "Thank You" also to the Schaeffers and the Middelmanns for their work and their contribution to our understanding of what constitutes authentic humanness in community with a verifiable and redemptive Creator who acts and speaks in a broken but healable world.

Allen West took to Twitter and Facebook to tell whoever is stalking his wife at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Board of Trustee meetings it would be wise to stop, because next time they'll have to face him.

Here is West's message on Facebook:

I completely understand the Alinsky tactics and have no issue with the insidious and incessant personal attacks by the left against me. However, I am warning you, end your harassment of my wife Angela. The students from Florida Atlantic University who have gone to my wife's office, stalked her at the FAU Board of Trustee meetings, and sent letters to her company headquarters, end it now.

This is not a threat, it is a promise that if Angela calls and tells me of one more incident, you will face me, the side of me that you do not want to see. My wife Angela is an American citizen and if you believe that you can intimidate her to surrender her freedoms you are mistaken.

Those left wing groups and lawyers associated with these individuals supporting their antics, I recommend you disassociate yourself. How dare you animals attack my wife and her professional reputation. This is your one and only advisory notice.

Dr. Michael Ward to Lead HBU's New C.S. Lewis Centre in Oxford

Houston Baptist University has recruited Dr. Michael Ward, one of the world’s pre-eminent scholars in C.S. Lewis studies and imaginative apologetics, as a professor in apologetics and the director of its new C.S. Lewis Centre in Oxford, England.

Ward will come on board full-time in August 2013, teaching online courses in the Master of Arts in Apologetics (MAA) program and directing HBU’s Lewis Centre in Oxford, where Lewis lived and taught for most of his life. The C.S. Lewis Centre will serve to promote the study of Lewis and imaginative apologetics and to expand the global reach of HBU’s apologetics program by allowing students in the MAA to study abroad and work with Ward in Oxford. Ward will also serve as academic adviser for UK-based students in the online MAA and come to Houston each spring for in-person work with students.

Ward is a senior research fellow at Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford, and holds a doctorate in divinity from the University of St. Andrews. He lectures internationally on Lewis, Tolkien and Christian apologetics. In America, he has spoken in 40 of the 50 states, including at the universities of Stanford, Chicago and Cornell, and at the Library of Congress.

Described by N.T. Wright as “the foremost living Lewis scholar” (Times Literary Supplement, 2009), Ward is the author of the groundbreaking study of Lewis’ writings, Planet Narnia: The Seven Heavens in the Imagination of C.S. Lewis (Oxford University Press, 2008). He has also co-edited The Cambridge Companion to C.S. Lewis (Cambridge University Press, 2010).

Ward is also gifted in bringing scholarly insights to a broader audience. He presented the BBC television documentary The Narnia Code, a popular and accessible introduction to the ideas expressed academically in his book Planet Narnia. And his on-screen appearances are not limited to the BBC; Ward’s most unusual distinction is that he handed a pair of X-ray spectacles to James Bond in the movie The World Is Not Enough.

From 1996 to 1999, Ward was resident warden and curator of The Kilns, C.S. Lewis’ Oxford home. More recently, he has been responsible for securing a memorial to C.S. Lewis in Poets’ Corner, Westminster Abbey. Ward is leading the fundraising efforts as well as organizing a two-day conference for the unveiling of the memorial, which will take place Nov. 21-22, 2013, the 50th anniversary of Lewis’ death.

“I am delighted to see Dr. Ward join the burgeoning HBU apologetics team,” said HBU Provost Dr. John Mark Reynolds. “Dr. Ward is uniquely qualified to take leadership in the C.S. Lewis Centre for HBU. He demonstrates the breadth of education and the ability to communicate that education that follows in the footsteps of C.S. Lewis.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Ward to our full-time faculty,” said Dr. Holly Ordway, chair of the Department of Apologetics at HBU. “His expertise in theological imagination, Christian apologetics, and the writings of C.S. Lewis will be a huge asset to the cutting-edge work we are doing in the apologetics program at HBU. There is no one in the world better suited to lead the C.S. Lewis Centre for HBU and to help our program have a global impact.”

Francis Schaeffer: "Revolution Is Coming and Is Here"

Schaeffer writes in The Church at the End of the Twentieth Century:

Christian pastors come to me and say, "Don't you understand? If I begin this, I'm going to be kicked out of my church. If I bring blacks and long-haired kids into my home, if I get really close to them and they begin to love me and trust me and come to church, I may get kicked out." We send martyrs off to the end of the earth and say, Go ahead and die for Jesus Christ. Why not here at home?

A revolution is coming and is here. If we don't have the courage in Jesus Christ to get kicked out of our churches and being ostracized today, what are we going to do when the revolution comes in force? If we don't have the courage to open our homes and begin to bring these things into our churches, slowly begin to make the changes that we can within the polity of the New Testament, then there is no question of having courage when the pressure comes.

I think that if we fail to train our muscles in such little places, when the revolution comes -- especially if it comes violently from the New Left -- most of the evangelical church will just give way beneath it. We had better begin now, because the revolution with all its manipulation is coming.

Extremist Prof Arrested After Profane Tirade at Pro-Life Students

A University of Buffalo professor was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after she launched into a profanity-laced tirade directed towards a group of pro-life students.

"Where does it say I can’t use the f**k word in public," Professor Laura Curry screamed at students. "I can swear because that’s part of my vocabulary. That’s part of my First Amendment rights."

Curry, an adjunct instructor of media study, was lashing out at the University’s Students for Life organization. The group had erected a pro-life display featuring images that offended Curry.

"I can swear in public because that is profane," she said referring to the display. "That image is swearing to me. That is profane to me."

Mark Levin: Republican Congressman Threatening Me

On his syndicated radio talk show Friday night, Mark Levin revealed that a Republican congressman has asked a major affiliate to remove his show from the airwaves in his district.

“It has come to my attention that there’s a Republican congressman out there who doesn’t like what I’ve been saying,” Levin said. “It’s come to my attention that there’s a Republican congressman out there, a fairly powerful one, who doesn’t like what I’ve been saying about him.

“And you know what this Republican congressman wants to do about it, Mr. Producer? He wants our major affiliate in his district where my program is heard to remove my show.

Hollywood’s Undying Love for Communist Angela Davis

Recently, The Daily Beast disgraced itself by providing a platform for communist Bill Ayers to spread unchallenged lies about his background in the Weather Underground terrorist organization, which is presently the subject of an exonerating new film by leftist actor Robert Redford.

The film, The Company You Keep, is not unlike the prior whitewash of communism Redford presented in the 1973 film The Way We Were, co-starring fellow left-winger Barbra Streisand.

Following in Redford’s footsteps, some of the biggest names in Hollywood have just released an equally mendacious portrait of radical Angela Davis in the documentary Free Angela & All Political Prisoners, a work that further popularizes Davis’s fictional persona as a "social justice" advocate and racial equality icon of the Sixties.

What audiences will be robbed of in this historical distortion, however, is a truthful look at Davis’s "political" career -- filled as it is with violent militarism, racial hatred and complicity in murder.

The documentary will also not reveal the destructive work Davis continues today by promoting the release of black criminals back into black communities to further terrorize their populations (90% of the victims of black criminals are black).

Oregon Panel OKs Bill Requiring Daily Pledge of Allegiance in Schools

AP reports:

A legislative committee voted unanimously Friday for a bill requiring the Pledge of Allegiance to be recited daily in Oregon public classrooms.

Under state law, schools must give students the opportunity to say the Pledge of Allegiance at least once a week. The bill passed by the House Education Committee would require schools to do so daily, and to have an employee or student lead the recital.

Students can't be compelled to say the pledge, and the bill wouldn't change that.

"Supporters say the pledge is an important part of civic education. Critics say requiring time each day for the pledge would further ostracize students who don't participate because of religious or other reasons," according to AP.

AP is also reporting that "two words in the pledge have sparked controversy: 'under God.'"

According to AP, "Dissenters say they are uncomfortable reciting the Pledge of Allegiance for religious and other reasons. For example, members of the Jehovah's Witnesses denomination typically do not participate in saying the pledge."

Setting aside a moment to recite the Pledge is a step in the right direction.

Another step in the right direction would be to allow a reading from the Declaration of Independence, which states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Every student, teacher, and staff member would benefit from a reminder of what truly is the center of gravity for human rights, human dignity, and human freedom.

Chris Smith (R-N.J.) called out the national news media for their nearly non-existent coverage of the ongoing and gruesome trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell in Philadelphia, who is accused of cutting the spinal cords of babies who survived abortions, the death of a mother, and a variety of related charges.

"Why the censorship?" Smith asked in a speech delivered on the House floor on Thursday.

"Now, another national media cover up!" said Smith. "In this case, even when a Jeffrey Dahmer-like murder trial of an abortionist named Kermit Gosnell, who ran the benign-sounding Women’s Medical [Society,] unfolds in a Philadelphia courtroom replete with shocking testimony of beheadings, unfathomable abuse, death, and body parts in jars."

"On Thursday, Fox News’ 'Special Report with Bret Baier' ran a segment in which Baier reported that NBC, MSNBC, ABC, and CBS have done zero stories on the Gosnell trial. The exception was CNN, which did one story," CNSNews.com reports.

Who Mailed Live Explosive to Sheriff Joe?

Authorities have confirmed that an apparent bomb addressed to Maricopa, Ariz., County Sheriff Joe Arpaio was uncovered and diverted, and now investigators are beginning to look into a list of his enemies for any links or connections.

Those who have had conflicts with him, those who might be coming under investigation, those who have been unsuccessful in fights with him. . . .

Arpaio, who has described himself as the "toughest sheriff in America," has had conflicts over the past few years with advocates for illegal immigration, those who don’t like his enforcement of state laws in Arizona, and those who don’t like him investigating certain topics, including the validity of Barack Obama’s birth documentation. Others don’t like him because he’s been aggressive in fighting the war on illegal immigration in his border state, and his stand on law-and-order. . . .

A spokeswoman for his office today told WND that five members from Mexican drug cartels in just the past few years have threatened Arpaio’s life, including offering a $4 million bounty announced by one suspect just this week. . . .

According to WND, when "asked whether confirmation was available that the sheriff would remain committed to his law enforcement and investigatory responsibilities," the spokeswoman said, "That’s an understatement!"

I recently received a letter from one of law enforcement’s finest. He had attended a seminar in which he was told to be on the lookout for Christians. The letter was written by an attendee, Ron Trowbridge, Undersheriff in Prowers County, Colorado. I would like to thank Sheriff Trowbridge for the letter and the 25 years he has spent protecting the public in his county. Fear of reprisals from either the Colorado State Police and Homeland Security, fail to stop this patriot from exposing what our law officers are being subjected to.

What is in the letter? Passages like this:

Trooper Joe Kluczynski taught a 2-hour section on sovereign citizens. Kluczynski spent most of his two hours focusing on how, in his view and apparently the view of Homeland Security, people turn to the sovereign citizen movement. . . . Among those groups, Kluczynski had listed, were those who believe America was founded on godly principles, Christians who take the Bible literally, and “fundamentalists”. Kluczynski did not explain what he meant by “fundamentalists” but from the context it was clear he was referring again to those who took the Bible literally or “too seriously.”

And this:

While Kluczynski emphasized that sovereign citizens have a right to their beliefs, he was clearly teaching that the groups he had listed should be watched by law enforcement and should be treated with caution because of their potential to assault law enforcement. Kluczynski explained why he believed these groups were dangerous saying they were angry over the election of a black president. When someone in the group suggested the failing economy was probably much more to blame, Kluczynski intimated that those who are not going along with the changes in America will need to be controlled by law enforcement. Kluczynski even later questioned some of the troopers present if they were willing and prepared to confiscate "illegal" weapons if ordered to.

Because of the bravery of officer Ron Trowbridge, notes Clash Daily, "we are able to get an inside look on how nefarious forces within our government are attempting to indoctrinate our law officers. As this letter proves, our officers cannot be intimidated. Nor can they be turned on the people they serve. The people of Prowers County are very lucky to have him."

Kirsten Powers: Media's "Deafening Silence" on Philadelphia Abortion Horror a "Disgrace"

Infant beheadings. Severed baby feet in jars. A child screaming after it was delivered alive during an abortion procedure. Haven't heard about these sickening accusations?

It's not your fault. Since the murder trial of Pennsylvania abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell began March 18, there has been precious little coverage of the case that should be on every news show and front page. The revolting revelations of Gosnell's former staff, who have been testifying to what they witnessed and did during late-term abortions, should shock anyone with a heart. . . .

A Lexis-Nexis search shows none of the news shows on the three major national television networks has mentioned the Gosnell trial in the last three months. The exception is when Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan hijacked a segment on Meet the Press meant to foment outrage over an anti-abortion rights law in some backward red state. . . .

"You don't have to oppose abortion rights to find late-term abortion abhorrent or to find the Gosnell trial eminently newsworthy. This is not about being 'pro-choice' or 'pro-life.' It's about basic human rights," Powers writes.

Conclusion: "The deafening silence of too much of the media, once a force for justice in America, is a disgrace."

Extremist Barack Obama: Put Nation's 4-Year-Olds in "Public Preschools"

Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are "better prepared for the demands of the global economy" and to help parents save on "child-care costs."

This is just more extremism from a politician who rejects the vision for humanity and vision for freedom that is the mainstream American position, as set forth in the enduring principles of the Declaration of Indpendence and Bill of Rights.

Everyone should understand that the "nation" or "America" does not have any children. Parents have children, not nations. And not governments.

And it is the God-given right and responsibility of parents -- not Washington, D.C., power-brokers -- to raise and oversee the education of their own children.

What Obama is doing is using the tried and true con of "education" to tempt hard-working parents to allow power-hungry politicians even more (unconstitutional) control over our children than they already improperly exercise.

Wisdom says no to the further spread of slavery and yes to human resistance in the name of liberty.

It is for the sake of real education and the dignity of the person that Americans should reject what is just more candy-coated extremism disgorging out of Washington.

As the Declaration of Independence makes clear, and as the verifiable information we have from the Creator makes clear, the center of gravity for human freedom and dignity is the Creator, and not the state. 

This is the mainstream human position, and as a matter of history, it is the defining U.S. position. All else is extreme. And all else is extreme, even if that extremism is advocated under a sales pitch of education or on behalf of saving a few dollars (as if the federal government knows anything about saving money).  

Mr. Obama, it would be better if you read (and submitted to) the Declaration of Independence. It would be better if you read (and submitted to) the Bill of Rights.

That's your job. To submit. To submit your ego and your thinking and your policies to the rules of freedom. It's also why you took to oath of office. Or do you have mental reservations, after all?

Reject extremism, Mr. Obama. Do your job. Remove your nose from our business.

And by the way, Republicans: You need to do a little reading too. And submitting, too. To the rules of freedom.

Report: MSNBC Host Touré Founded "Militant Anti-White Student Newspaper"

MSNBC host Touré, a writer and "cultural critic," has recently been in the news for attacking Dr. Benjamin Carson, the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Having insulted black Rush Limbaugh fans in the past, Touré said Dr. Carson’s "un-serious" ideas are tolerated on the right only because he can be held up as a token black friend.

Now, a recent report by the Daily Caller suggests the television host has long seen the world through a racial lens.

"MSNBC host Touré founded a student newspaper dedicated to black liberation theology while he was a college student attending Emory University from 1989 to 1992," The Daily Caller claims. "Touré’s flagship publication, The Fire This Time, lavished praise on famous anti-Semites, black supremacists, and conspiracy theorists whom Touré helped bring to campus. Before he became an intense-but-sardonic TV personality, Touré also decried 'the suffocating white community' and defended a nationally famous fake hate crime."

Whoever put together the recently reported Defense Department materials classifying Catholics and Evangelicals as extremists can be excused for simply reflecting, if a bit overenthusiastically, the ideology of the boss. Obama’s anti-Christian secularism is the order of the day. Why wouldn’t that philosophy seep into DOD materials?

The military is dismissing this slide show for a U.S. Army Reserve presentation, which placed the Catholic Church in the same category as al Qaeda, as an isolated incident. An Army spokesman told the press it "was produced by an individual without anyone in the chain of command’s knowledge or permission," who "was not a subject matter expert, and produced the material after conducting Internet research."

Research into what? Obama’s speeches and writings on the benighted quality of Christianity, all of which rest on the premise that it is extreme? Did he read Obama’s memoirs, which dismiss passages of the Bible as extreme? Had he read Obama’s comment that to "base our policy making" on Abrahamic commitments "would be a dangerous thing"? . . .

"When historians look back on his presidency, they will likely record that he considered his greatest enemy to be not radical Islam abroad but traditional Christianity at home," Neumary writes.

"Winning the culture war through the 'fundamental transformation' of the country has always been of more interest to him than winning wars against Islamic terrorists. As he has proudly noted, 'ending "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" was a topic in my first meeting with Secretary Gates, Admiral Mullen, and the Joint Chiefs'.”

Neumayr concludes, "The 'individual' who put together the U.S. Army Reserve presentation deserves if anything a promotion. As a product of Obama-era brainwashing, he understands that the military no longer exists for God and country but for Obama and his state secularism, which views Americans who still bitterly cling to their Christianity as extremists."

Liberals "Believe They Own Black America"

During last night's Hannity Townhall, Dr. Ben Carson and a panel of leading black Americans not cowed by political correctness spoke out against racism, including the racism evident in the liberal belief that "they own black America," as Reginald Jones of the Project 21 National Advisory Council put it.

A particularly striking part of this townhall is a video clip in which MSNBC figure Chris Matthews says, "Racism is the belief that one race, white, should rules all others."

It must be said: This statement is an offense to intelligence, and it supports the proposition that while the United States is founded upon self-evident truths, liberalism is founded upon self-evident foolishness.

I don't know about you, but for me, there's something unappealing about committing intellectual suicide just to be part of a group. The Creator who liberates does not ask this of us, and we should not ask it of ourselves or expect it in others. Test everything.

Florida Megachurch Pastor's Ties to Islamists

Pastor Joel C. Hunter of Florida’s Northland Church is under fire for his stance against the state’s proposed legislation based on American Laws for American Courts. He chose a peculiar individual to help make his case: Atif Fareed, former chairman of the Council on American-Islamic Relations-Florida.

The influence of Pastor Hunter is not to be dismissed. His church’s congregation numbers around 15,000 and he sits on the boards of the National Association of Evangelicals and the World Evangelical Alliance. He has served on President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and remains a "spiritual advisor" to him.

Hunter opposes the legislation, which is designed to stop foreign law from superseding American law, because he sees it as an "unnecessary law that increases bias and heightens animosity between Christians and Muslims." Although it is often described as "anti-Shariah" legislation, it doesn’t mention Shariah or Islam. It is focused on all foreign law.

"The Florida Family Association went into action when Hunter asked Atif Fareed . . . to read a statement to the Florida Senate Committee on Governmental Oversight and Accountability for him," Mauro writes.

"CAIR was labeled an unindicted co-conspirator in the country’s largest terrorism-finance trial and was listed among 'individuals/entities who are and/or were members of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee and/or its organizations'," Mauro explains. "The Palestine Committee is a secret Brotherhood body set up to support the Hamas agenda in America."

Hunt for the word "homophobia" -- purportedly a fear of homosexuality -- and Merriam-Webster, the ADL, Wikipedia, Oxford Dictionary, The Free Dictionary, the Reference Dictionary and others are ready to provide help.

But look for "homofascism" -- the use of homosexuality to bludgeon and batter the religious rights of Christians and others -- and the logical resources are silent, leaving it to blogs and others to define.

For example, at DefendProclaimtheFaith.org, a blogger wrote, "In light of all the information that I already posted and current information in this digest, I believe I may have coined a phrase. I am no longer titling the information as homosexual but homofascism. . . . I am going to use it because it fits this movement."

Army Tells Soldiers: "Evangelicals" No. 1 Threat

Soldiers in the U.S. military have been told in a training briefing that evangelical Christians are the No. 1 extremist threat to America -- ahead of groups like the Muslim Brotherhood, KKK, Nation of Islam, al-Qaida, Hamas and others.

"Men and women of faith who have served the Army faithfully for centuries shouldn’t be likened to those who have regularly threatened the peace and security of the United States," said Col. (Ret.) Ron Crews, executive director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty. "It is dishonorable for any U.S. military entity to allow this type of wrongheaded characterization. It also appears that some military entities are using definitions of 'hate' and 'extreme' from the lists of anti-Christian political organizations. That violates the apolitical stance appropriate for the military."

The briefing, which was given to an Army reserve unit in Pennsylvania, came from a U.S. Army Reserve Equal Opportunity training brief titled "Extremism and Extremist Organizations."

The material mentions neo-Nazis, the KKK and other white supremacist organizations. Pictures are shown on various slides of people in Klan attire and Nazi flags. The significance of gang tattoos, and racist acronyms and the significance of numbers were also discussed.

"While the material on gangs and racist organizations is similar to what one might receive from a local police briefing on gang issues, after teaching on neo-Nazis in the military such as Timothy McVeigh, the material makes an amazing link," Minor reports.

"A slide titled 'Religious Extremism' lists multiple organizations such as the Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaida, Hamas, the Nation of Islam, the Ku Klux Klan and the Christian Identity movement as examples of extremist groups," Minor writes. "However, the first group on the list is evangelical Christianity. Catholicism and ultra-orthodox Judaism are also on the list of religious extremist organizations."

The city of Minneapolis, Minnesota -- whose population is composed of 63.8% whites, 10.5% Hispanics, and 18.6% African Americans -- has been governed exclusively by mayors from the Democratic Farmer Labor Party, the state affiliate of the Democratic Party, since 1978.

As of 2011, the poverty rate in Minneapolis was 23.5%, more than one-and-a-half times the national figure of 15%. This differential is consistent with a longstanding, well-documented trend: Virtually all of America’s poorest cities have been led politically by Democrats for many years, even decades.

In 2010, for example, not even one of the ten poorest large cities in the U.S. had elected a Republican mayor since the 1980s. In fact, 8 of the 10 cities had been led exclusively by Democrats for more than half a century.

Prior to the permanent Democratic takeover of Minneapolis in 1978, the city’s poverty rate had been consistently lower than the national average. . . .

Just as Minneapolis residents face significant economic challenges, so must they deal with the city’s sizable crime problem. . . .

"In a particularly ugly develoment, Minneapolis in recent times has been the scene of numerous incidents involving 'flash mob' violence, usually by large groups of black assailants targeting white victims," Perazzo writes.

Having failed to end Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s congressional career at the polls, the left is now moving to do it the old-fashioned way: Bork Bachmann unto political death.

The problem?

This really is the old-fashioned way.

And any conservative even semi-awake recognizes the game instantly. In this case the game being played with the so-called Office of Congressional Ethics, the OCE.

This is what we now call “Borking.”

The method of choice of liberals when they are frustrated by the public’s attachment or potential attachment to a political figure on the Right.

"From then-California Senator Richard Nixon’s 1952 'scandal' about a campaign fund to Barry Goldwater’s 1964 'ties' to German Nazis to 1988 allegations that Dan Quayle bought drugs to Sarah Palin’s 2008 episode over Alaskan state troopers, the story is the same," Lord continues. "From charges designed to immolate any conservative from the late Robert Bork in 1987 (whence the Borking game took its name) to Clarence Thomas in 1991 or, in the last few days, Dr. Ben Carson, the game never changes when the objective is to destroy a prominent conservative." (emphasis added)

Invitation: Edith Schaeffer Services in Gryon and Rochester

Udo Middelmann has released the following statement:

The funeral for Edith Schaeffer will be on April 19th at 2 PM in the church in Gryon, Switzerland, where she has lived and made her home for the past 13 years. She was a member of the church her husband and I pastured together in Switzerland. The service in Gryon will be the public funeral for her and in her honor, and everyone is invited to attend and to express their love and appreciation afterwards in the reception immediately following.

On April 25 at 2 PM there will be a service at the graveside in Rochester, Minnesota, to lay her body next to her husband’s, as they had promised to each other. Everyone is welcome to join in a tribute to honor Edith Schaeffer, whom we know as a generous, creative, loving, knowledgeable and wise person. In no way would Edith Schaeffer want either service to be private.

At her request, which Frank Schaeffer wrote down eight years ago, I shall conduct and preach at both services as her pastor, which she considered me to be after her husband’s death. Even when she was unable to leave her home in recent months I had church with her and others regularly and served communion to them in her own home. 

There may be a number of memorial services in the weeks and months ahead in different locations held for Edith Schaeffer. She was a generous person in all things and richly deserves to be remembered by many now and in years to come. These, however, are not part of the funeral arrangements Edith Schaeffer made for her own death.

We are very thankful to God for the life and work of Edith Schaeffer. . . . In the place of flowers we invite you to contribute to the work of The Francis A. Schaeffer Foundation, which she started in 1988 and which continues her and her husband’s ideas and interests.

Public School Boots Cub Scouts

A federal civil rights complaint has been filed against the Salt Lake City School Board after a principal booted a Cub Scout pack from an elementary school.

About 30 eight to 11 year-olds were told they could no longer meet at Mountain View Elementary School because the Boy Scout’s ban on gay members in leaders conflicted with the school district’s anti-bias policy.

The ban drew the ire of Michael Clara, a school board member and lifetime Boy Scout. Clara filed the federal complaint on behalf of two Latino parents.

"It is an assault on the founding principles of our country for school officials to attempt to exclude a voice no less legitimate than its own from public school participation," Clara is quoted as telling Fox News.

In fact, the pro-family voice of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts is more legitimate than that of a pro-homosexual school board, for the Scouts ban on homosexuals stands in the mainstream of the family, married life, and the norms of freedom, which are ultimately rooted in the "created equal" of the Creator (see Declaration of Independence) and not in the social constructs of secularized academics, alienated politicians, or an estranged federal state. 

In contrast, the homosexualist movement stands outside of that enduring mainstream and therefore, by definition, occupies the extreme -- against family, against marriage, and even against the human body. It is an ideology that harms.

"A marketplace of ideas devoid of competitive viewpoints engenders an insidious society of conformity, contrary to the fundamental precepts of our Constitution," Clara is also quoted as saying. "It’s unfortunate this principal has the backing of the district to implement their own form of discrimination and racism."

By the way, Clara "describes himself as a Christian conservative Republican who supports gay rights," according to Fox News. It should be noted that a belief in "gay rights" faces a huge challenge intellectually insofar as it operates on the basis of a relativistic social construct, which undercuts the very concept of morality and of rights and offers no sound basis for "unalienable rights."

The slogan "homosexual rights" is actually an assertion of raw power, organized anarchy, and it possesses all the authenticity of a $3 bill. Anything you can buy with this counterfeit will be of no value. Fortunately for human freedom, all the yelling, screaming, hating, and name-calling in the world -- as well as removing from schools -- cannot change this fact.

These are your schools, parents. These are your schools, taxpayers. The principals work for you, the school board works for you. You pay their salaries. Ultimately, in community with the God who liberates, you are the boss and you call the shots. It's time for Wisdom to rise up. It's time for Wisdom to rise up.

Keller: "I Do Not" Support Legalizing Homosex "Marriage"

Keller writes:

In explaining the Anabaptist tradition, I was quoted saying, "You can believe homosexuality is a sin and still believe that same-sex marriage should be legal." I did say that -- but it was purely a statement of fact. It is possible to hold that position, though it isn't my position, nor was I promoting or endorsing the position. I was simply reporting on the growth of that view.

"I can see how some readers might be confused at these points
. . . and think that I support the legalization of same-sex marriage. I do not. I hope that clarifies things for those of you who asked about this article," Keller writes.

1,980 years ago tomorrow, the world put God on trial. When offered a choice, the world surrendered up God to be tortured, crucified, and killed and asked that Pontius Pilate free the criminal Barabbas instead.

There is no compromise between Christ and the world. Young evangelicals, complacent in the United States and unharassed, would do wise to remember this.

Tim Keller, a noted preacher in my denomination (Presbyterian Church in America), made news yesterday when he talked about evangelicals coming to terms with gay marriage. In particular he said that "you can believe homosexuality is a sin and still believe that same-sex marriage should be legal."

"Young evangelicals have bought into the notion that by proclaiming the standards of the Bible they are judging," Erickson continues. "They seek accommodation and given tacit approval to sin lest they be accused of judging or casting stones."

In fact, Erickson counters, "There is no accommodation on this issue with the world. Young evangelicals, Tim Keller, and the rest are deluded if they think they can seek a compromise with the world."

Erickson began his column by quoting Jesus' unflinching affirmation that "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon" (Matt. 6:24).

Erickson concludes: "Mammon chose Barabbas and too many young evangelicals are choosing Mammon."

My recommendation: Join "The Revolt of Intelligence Against 'Marriage Equality'."

Edith Schaeffer and the Apologetics of Beauty

What most impressed me in knowing Edith at L'Abri was her emphasis on everyday beauty.

Arriving as a critical agnostic, I was surprised to meet Christians who actually cared about the world of ideas and the arts. It was not merely that Francis Schaeffer lectured about the arts, however.

It was also that Edith thought it important for the Christian to incorporate beauty into all of life -- such as simple but elegant table settings with a flower and a candle. Not expensive items, not conspicuous consumption. But creative (expressing your unique personality) and natural (using items and themes from nature when possible).

Though I had grown up in the church, I had never before met Christians who understood that our souls hunger for beauty just as much as for truth and goodness.

For me, as for many others who studied at L'Abri in the days when Edith still presided, there was an apologetics of beauty that made me want Christianity to be true, at the same time that I was working through a philosophical apologetics that was persuading me intellectually that it was true.

Edith described her love of everyday beauty in Hidden Art (the title was later expanded to The Hidden Art of Homemaking).

Edith Rachel Merritt Seville Schaeffer died on March 30, 2013 in her home in Gryon, Switzerland, where she had moved 13 years ago to be surrounded by memories, her music, her son’s paintings and the detailed care organized daily by her daughter Deborah Middelmann.

She was born on November 3, 1914, as the third daughter of Dr. George Hugh and Jessie Maude Seville in Wenchau, China, where her parents ran a school for girls and taught the Bible in Mandarin.

Edith Schaeffer marked her life with the expression of rich ideas, often rebellious against the staid and superficial life she saw among Christians.

The oldest sister became a communist in New York of the 30ies, the second eloped. Edith Seville married Francis August Schaeffer in 1935, and in no way was she the typical pastor’s or missionary wife.

She turned her active mind to work with her husband, teaching first seminary wives to think and to question, to create and make of life something of integrity, as her husband so wanted her to do.
