Nancy's New Book "LOVE THY BODY" Publishes in 4 DAYS

By Rick Pearcey • December 29, 2017, 04:57 PM

Here's the description of the book at NancyPearcey.com:

Why the Call to Love Thy Body?

To counter the hostility toward the human body and the biological facts of life that drives many of today's heart-wrenching headline stories. Unfortunately, many people absorb pre-packaged media mantras on watershed ethical questions without being aware of their hurtful real-world implications.

Consider:

  • Transgenderism: Activists detach gender from biology. Kids down to kindergarten are being taught their body is irrelevant to their authentic self. Is this affirming -- or does it demean the body?

  • Homosexuality: Advocates disconnect sexuality from being biologically male or female. Is this liberating -- or does it denigrate who we really are?

  • Abortion: Supporters admit that pre-born babies are biologically human, but deny that they are persons worthy of legal protection. Does this lead to equality for women -- or does it threaten the intrinsic dignity and worth of all humans?

  • Hookup Culture: On campus, in Hollywood, in the boardroom, the sexual revolution was supposed to liberate us for recreational sex. But are schizoid sex and bodies without meaning really all there is?

In Love Thy Body, best-selling author Nancy Pearcey goes beyond politically correct talking points to offer a riveting exposé of the dehumanizing secularist ethos that shapes the critical moral and socio-political issues of our day.

Formerly an agnostic, Pearcey has been hailed in The Economist as "America's preeminent evangelical Protestant female intellectual." Fearlessly and with compassion, she makes the case that secularism denigrates the body and destroys the basis for human rights.

Throughout, Pearcey sets forth a holistic and humane alternative available to all -- one that offers authentic, reality-oriented solutions that embrace the dignity of the human body and provide a sustainable basis for unalienable human rights.

Now, more than ever, we need to learn to "love thy body."

Police Deaths Approach 50-Year Low

By Rick Pearcey • December 28, 2017, 03:41 PM

"The decline comes after 2016, a year which 'saw more deaths than in the five previous years'," according to A.W.R. Hawkins at Breitbart. "Breitbart News reported that the number of officers 'feloniously killed' in 2016 jumped 61 percent over the number killed in that fashion in 2015," Hawkins reports.

According to Hawkins:

USA Today reports that preliminary numbers for 2017 show 128 deaths in line of duty, which represents nearly a 50-year low. The only year with fewer officer deaths during the last five decades was 2013. There were 116 officer deaths that year . . . .

The 128 overall line of duty deaths for 2017 is down from the 143 line of duty deaths for 2016.

Blue Lives Matter's Randy Sutton believes the overall decline in officer deaths is the result of a greater awareness for officer safety. He indicated that this focus on safety "[includes] a change in how officers approach arrests because of the controversial high-profile shootings over the years." Officers are seemingly more cognizant of potential dangers and approach (or avoid) dangerous situations accordingly.

"On December 26, Breitbart News reported that President Trump personally paid for hundreds of dinners for law enforcement officers and agents who had to work over the Christmas holiday," Hawkins reports

"CNN's Noah Gray indicated members of the Secret Service, the White House Military Office, and the Palm Beach Sheriff Department were among those fed with the meals," Hawkins concludes at Breitbart.

By Rick Pearcey • December 27, 2017, 12:16 PM

Woman With Gun Finds Prowler in Her Home

By Rick Pearcey • December 26, 2017, 10:08 AM

Katy Moeller reports at the IdahoStatesman.com:

A Garden City mother told police that she threatened a home intruder with a gun Friday morning -- and he fled her house, police said in a release.

Police identified a suspect a short time later, just as he was trying to enter another home nearby. He refused to obey officers' commands and had to be forcefully taken into custody, police said.

Sage Zumr, 18, was charged with unlawful entry, trespassing and obstructing/delaying police officers. The home invasion was reported at 9 a.m. in the 200 block of East 47th Street.

"The woman who reported the incident was protecting herself and her young son, police said," according to Moeller.

Well done, mom.

You are responsible for protecting yourself and your family. You were prepared, acted, and neutralized a potentially life-endangering threat to your son and to yourself.

Love of neighbor begins at home and sometimes requires the threat of force against violence to help aggressors, including 18-year-old home invaders, see the light.

For overcoming evil with good -- Merry Christmas!

Nightmare Before Christmas: Trump Renominates Architect of Obama's LGBT Agenda to EEOC

By Rick Pearcey • December 22, 2017, 03:38 PM

Susan Berry writes at Breitbart:

President Donald Trump has re-nominated radical sexual identity activist Chai Feldblum, the architect of former President Barack Obama's LGBT agenda, to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Feldblum is a nightmare of a nominee for those who value religious freedom, private property rights, and the science-based standard that there are two sexes -- male and female. As Obama's most liberal gender ideology activist, Feldblum has said that whenever LGBT issues conflict with religious liberty and private property rights, religious liberty and private rights should lose.

"When push comes to shove, when religious liberty and sexual liberty conflict, she admits, 'I'm having a hard time coming up with any case in which religious liberty should win,'" Maggie Gallagher reported at the Weekly Standard in 2006, after interviewing Feldblum when the news broke that Catholic Charities in Boston would need to place adoptive children with same-sex couples in order to remain a licensed adoption agency.

Seeking people looking for real-world hope, as well as pro-scientific, body-affirming, whole-person solutions to transgenderism and other expressions of an alienating secularism (inaccurately promoted under the banner of "liberation"), may want to see the new book Love Thy Body: Answering Hard Questions about Life and Sexuality, by Nancy Pearcey and available at Amazon.

Illegal Alien Charged With Killing 14-Year-Old Texas Girl

By Rick Pearcey • December 19, 2017, 02:53 PM

Michael Chapman reports at CNSNews.com:

Rhyan Moody, a 14-year-old high school freshman from Colleyville, Texas, was killed when an illegal alien, apparently intoxicated, allegedly smashed an SUV into the car she was traveling in with her grandparents on Thanksgiving night, Nov. 23. Moody was in the back seat and died from blunt force trauma to her head. Her grandparents suffered numerous broken bones and are recovering . . . .

Jose Victor Chaparro-Saenz, 38, was arrested in his vehicle not far from the accident. Alcohol was found in the vehicle and Chaparro-Saenz reportedly appeared intoxicated. He was charged with manslaughter, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest, according to FOX4 Dallas.

In a related CNSNews report titled "Trump's First Pillar of National Security: Build the Border Wall," Terence Jeffrey writes, "In both his National Security Strategy . . . and the speech he delivered at the Ronald Reagan Building explaining it, President Donald Trump said the United States will build a wall along the southern border as part of the first pillar of his plan, which focuses on protecting the American homeland and way of life."

According to CNSNews, Trump said, "Leaders in Washington imposed on the country an immigration policy that Americans never voted for, never asked for, and never approved."

As a result of this policy, Trump said, "the wrong people are allowed into our country and the right people are rejected.

"American citizens, as usual, have been left to bear the costs and pick up the tab," Trump said, according to Jeffrey.

Returning to the first story in this post, note: "Needless to say, if the illegal alien" Chaparro-Saenz "had not been in this country," teenager Rhyan Moody "would be alive today," Chapman writes.

ESPN Prez Suddenly Resigns

By Rick Pearcey • December 18, 2017, 03:25 PM

News today of John Skippers' resignation as president of ESPN comes as a shock.

"Huge news," tweets John Ourand, "Skipper resigns from ESPN."

Reason? "Skipper cites substance abuse issues," Ourand also tweets.

"The timing of Skipper's resignation seems a bit of a mystery," Dylan Gwinn writes at Breitbart.

"Skipper had just signed a multi-year contract extension in November. How does one develop a long-term substance problem in a month?" Gwinn asks.

"Perhaps ESPN just became aware of Skipper's issue in the last month, though, that too would seem unlikely," Gwinn suggests. "Moreover, it's likely that ESPN would at least attempt to offer some kind of counseling as opposed to compelling Skipper to resign, if they just found out about Skipper's issue after signing him to a brand new deal."

Upshot: "Could there be something another, bigger story behind this announcement?" Gwinn asks.

Yes. Because "it certainly has been open season on executives and high-profile media personalities as of late. In any event, Skipper's tenure, especially of late, will be marked by decline and regression at ESPN," Gwinn writes.

"In 2015, ESPN laid off roughly 300 employees. The network laid off another 100 employees, including several high-profile, on-air talents in April of 2017. Most recently, several dozen additional employees were laid off after the Thanksgiving holiday," Gwinn states.

This may not be the last we hear of Mr. Skipper and his departure from ESPN.

FBI Is Falling: Growing Evidence of Politically Corrupt Clinton Investigation

By Rick Pearcey • December 15, 2017, 06:45 PM

Peter Hasson reports at the Daily Caller:

A series of new revelations about the FBI under James Comey has provided more evidence that partisan agents may have abused their agency positions for political purposes during the Hillary Clinton email investigation and 2016 presidential campaign.

Top FBI agent Peter Strzok, the public now knows, was removed from the Mueller investigation after a Department of Justice Office of Inspector General (IG) investigation revealed damning text messages between Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page.

The messages show Strzok and Page praising Clinton, discussing whether Strzok could use his position to protect the country from Donald Trump -- whom they described as "that menace" -- and referring to an unnamed "inurance policy" in case Trump beat Clinton.

"'I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy's office -- that there's no way he gets elected -- but I'm afraid we can't take that risk. It's like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you're 40,' Strzok said of Trump in one message to Page," according to Hasson.

"Andy" refers to Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe, "who has close ties to Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a longtime Clinton ally," Hasson reports.

NFL Nation's Most Disliked Sport for 3rd Straight Month

By Rick Pearcey • December 14, 2017, 04:38 PM

Craig Bannister reports at CNSNews.com:

Ever since September's surge in National Football League (NFL) player protests of the National Anthem at games, registered voters have given the NFL the most negative rating of any major sport in the U.S.

"Since the kneeling controversy it (the NFL) fell significantly behind (in popularity)," the Winston Group noted, announcing the results of its latest monthly Sports Survey.

In November, 38% had an "unfavorable" view of the NFL -- marking the league's third straight month as the most-disliked sport. NASCAR (28%) and the NBA (26%) were the second and third most-disliked sports.

"College football fared much better than the NFL, with an unfavorable rating of 21%," Bannister reports.

The Immorality of Accusing Roy Moore

By Rick Pearcey • December 13, 2017, 12:09 PM

Yesterday after the Alabama Senate race was not called for Roy Moore, on my Facebook page came this: "One wonders how many of the thousands of write-ins were by Christian pro-lifers protesting the controversy of Moore."

Here is my reply:

If so, extremely counterproductive.

And no moral basis -- because in fact we know virtually nothing about the truth value of the unsubstantiated allegations against Moore.

For me, IT'S IMMORAL to launch unsubstantiated allegations 4 wks out from an election. UNFAIR and UNJUST and UTTERLY MANIPULATIVE.

In any case, what a shame that folks would be duped by the cynical Structured Con and thereby facilitate the deaths of thousands if not millions of unborn human beings Moore would fight to save.

But let's see how this all turns out.

I will not be surprised at all if SUDDENLY all goes quiet on the ALLEGATION FRONT.

Mission accomplished -- NOT TRUTH. NOT Justice. NOT caring about women.

But DESTROYING MOORE. And protecting the oppressive DC establishment at all costs.

Well, let's see how things turn out. Cheers, all.

About the "Structured Con," on December 4 I wrote in this space:

"Let's see the evidence" . . . .

"To borrow from Christopher Hitchens, if we are expected to condemn Roy Moore apart from evidence, we can just as easily -- and more rationally (innocent until proven guilty) -- not condemn Roy Moore in the absence of evidence. Without evidence, a 'bombshell' becomes a dud. Sizzle becomes drizzle. Your parade is hereby rained upon," I wrote November 9.

Thus far, we have no evidence. Just accusations. Plus, there is no way these politically timed accusations against Roy Moore could ever be properly and fairly evaluated when thrown at him some 4 weeks before Election Day.

Of course the WPost knows this. Of course the D.C. Establishment knows this.

This is why I say what we are witnessing is structured as a con: It's a "structured con" -- made to look like a search for truth and justice with regard to the treatment of women when in fact the timing makes certain that no just or fair assessment is possible.

The real target: To strike a bull's-eye on behalf of the D.C. establishment's objective to destroy Roy Moore and keep him (and other Constitutionalists) out of the Senate.

Thus the con, thus the lie. Thus the voter wisdom of skepticism in the face of a con no matter how much hand-wringing and peer pressure that media mobs and other mobs try to exert.

These accusations smack of serious, underhanded politics.

They do not bespeak seriousness about the pursuit of fairness and justice -- either with regard to Roy Moore or with regard to a putative concern about the ill-treatment of women.

"Elections are more important than this. And so is how we treat women in society," I concluded.

Roy Moore +9 in Alabama Senate, Calls for Trump Travel Ban After NY Terror Attack

By Rick Pearcey • December 11, 2017, 04:53 PM

Ben Kew reports at Breitbart:

Republican Alabama U.S. Senate candidate Judge Roy Moore released a statement condemning the failed terrorist attack in New York City on Monday, reiterating the need for the proper implementation of President Donald Trump's travel ban.

The incident, which took place on Monday morning, was reportedly carried out by 27-year-old Bangladeshi national Akayed Ullah in allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS). Fortunately, no one was killed, although Ullah and three others were wounded.

"As we get news this morning of yet another radical Islamic terrorist attack, I am grateful that it appears no one was critically injured, and, as always, I am thankful for the quick action of law enforcement who have the suspect in custody," Moore states on Twitter.

"This incident underscores the continued threats our nation faces from those who want nothing more than to destroy the freedoms we enjoy," Moore continues.

"In the United States Senate I will fight with President Trump for the increased safety of the American people and I will not mince words when it comes to calling out radical Islamic terrorism for the threat that it is," Moore affirms.

Moore concludes: "I am committed to implementing the President's travel ban, putting an end to sanctuary cities, building the wall and making America safer."

Breitbart reports that "Trump's travel ban, which prohibits immigration from seven terror-prone Middle Eastern countries, was nearly fully reinstated by the United States Supreme Court last week, following a month's long protracted battle against left-wing circuit courts that barred the executive order from taking effect."

"The latest Emerson Poll released on Monday showed that Moore has increased his lead over liberal Democrat Doug Jones to nine points, 53 percent to 44 percent," Kew concludes at Breitbart.

"The citizen is a licensed carrier and did use his handgun to take down the robber," Police Capt. Michael Starnes said, according to the Blaze, quoting from the Express-News.

Will the dad be charged?

Chief Petty Officer Joe George: Pearl Harbor Hero Recognized 76 Years After Saving 6 From Sinking USS Arizona

By Rick Pearcey • December 7, 2017, 05:36 PM

Lucas Tomlinson reports at Fox News:

An American hero is finally getting recognition 76 years after the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor.

Ahead of [today's] anniversary, the secretary of the U.S. Navy posthumously awarded the Bronze Star with valor to Chief Petty Officer Joe George, who died in 1996. The news comes five months after Fox News interviewed one of five living USS Arizona survivors, Donald Stratton, who urged the Navy to recognize George's heroic actions that day.

George is credited with saving at least six soldiers aboard USS Arizona as it was sinking after being struck several times by Japanese planes during the attack at Pearl Harbor.

One of the men George saved Dec. 7, 1943, is USS Arizona survivor Donald Stratton. Here is part of Stratton's story, as reported by Fox News:

"We got hit with the big bomb and that exploded like a million pounds of ammunition. The fireball went about 60, 70 feet in the air . . . . The explosion could have taken us away, but it didn't and thank God we made it across." . . .

Trapped aboard the sinking Arizona, Stratton and the others managed to escape the carnage, which killed 1,177 of his shipmates, with the help of a fellow sailor who threw them a lifeline from his own ship moored next to Arizona.

With burns over 60 percent of his body, Stratton had to escape his burning warship.

"We proceeded to go hand over hand across the line about 70 feet," said Stratton. Today, he doesn’t have fingerprints and carries scars across his body, a daily reminder of the horrors he endured at Pearl Harbor.

"The toughest part was reaching the middle of the sagging line stretched across the two ships, and climbing up to the other ship," Fox reports.

"He kept saying, 'Come on sailor! You can make it,' recalled Stratton about his rescuer, who remained a mystery for 60 years," Fox says.

"The man who rescued Stratton and his fellow sailors that day: Joe George," Fox reports. "In his book, All the Gallant Men, Stratton described George as 'perhaps the strongest man in the harbor, an All-Navy Boxer'," according to Fox News.

"Stratton says George disobeyed his captain's order and threw Stratton the line that would save his life," Fox reports.

"It was kind of surreal. You grow up with your dad thinking of him as dad; you're not used to thinking of him as a hero," said George’s daughter, Joe Ann Taylor," according to Fox. "But it's a wonderful story and I'm quite proud of him. Plus I've gotten to know the men he saved and have developed a real bond with the Stratton and Bruner families."

Warning -- Explicit: Ruling Class Media Have Known All About "Pervy" Matt Lauer

By Rick Pearcey • December 6, 2017, 10:59 AM

Brian Flood reports at Fox News:

Embattled NBC executives have been falling over themselves, insisting they had no idea about Matt Lauer's pervy past. But if anyone doubts that New York's media elite was aware of Lauer's reputation, they should look no further than a top-secret "roast" of Lauer that took place in October 2008.

The notorious event -- now legendary in New York media circles -- pushed the outer limits of sexist, racist, homophobic and obscene jokes -- and left little doubt that Lauer's colleagues knew NBC's biggest star had a troubled marriage and a wandering eye.

"Last week, NBC's own Joe Scarborough, who attended the roast but said he left early, feeling uncomfortable, brought it up on 'Morning Joe'," Flood reports."Lauer's peccadillos, he said, were not just known about. At the roast, they were celebrated."

"The whole theme was that he does the show and then he has sex with people, with employees," Scarborough is quoted as saying. "So was this whispered behind closed doors? No. It was shouted from the mountaintops and everybody laughed about it."

Flood notes that "memories of the roast must be especially awkward for the various NBC executives now claiming they had no idea about Lauer’s reputation for sex harassment of women."

Lauer was fired "last week for inappropriate sexual behavior," Flood writes, "and in the ensuing days, NBC News' top bosses Andy Lack and his deputy, Noah Oppenheim, have claimed they had no prior knowledge of Lauer's conduct.

"Their denials have raised eyebrows within NBC and out, considering that both executive have deep ties to Lauer going back years."

Sweden May Ban Websites That List Ethnic Origin of Criminal Suspects

By Rick Pearcey • December 5, 2017, 01:25 PM

Chris Tomlinson reports at Breitbart:

Sweden has proposed banning the public use of legal document search engine Lexbase, which is used to identify the ethnic origins of Swedish criminal suspects.

According to the Swedish government, the data released by the website is too sensitive for the public and should be limited only to professionals like lawyers, journalists, and researchers. Previously, the website was protected under the Swedish Freedom of Expression Act, but the new legislation could limit what data they are allowed to release, Dagens Industri reports.

"For many years, the Swedish government has stopped the collection of statistics relating to the ethnic or religious background of criminals, making it difficult for researchers to track the correct rate of migrant crime, as opposed to crimes committed by native Swedes," Tomlinson reports.

"Some, like police officer Peter Springare, have claimed that the majority of serious crimes are committed by migrants or individuals from migrant backgrounds," Tomlinson continues. "Others have used freedom of information requests to look at crimes on a case-by-case basis and track the rate at which criminals born overseas have offended."

In addition, "one research project attempted to look solely at cases of gang rape in Sweden and found, through examining court documents, that nine out of 10 gang rapes were committed by asylum seekers and individuals with a migration background," Tomlinson reports.

In October of this year, Swedish lawyer Elizabeth Fritz said, "The rape reports are increasing and at my desk and I have many rapes and group violence. The majority of the suspects I meet in these cases have a foreign background," according to Breitbart.

"Now that Leftists in Sweden have discovered they have wrecked their own country by importing hordes of migrant criminals and appeasing them, they need to censor the truth to protect their careers," a commenter states below the Breitbart article.

Trump Calls Moore: "Go Get'em, Roy" as Voters Skeptical About Unsubstantiated Accusations

By Rick Pearcey • December 4, 2017, 03:18 PM

According to the official Twitter page of Roy Moore for U.S. Senate, President Donald Trump called the senate hopeful earlier today and told Moore, "Go Get'em, Roy!"

"Just got off the phone with President Trump who offered his full support and said he needs a fighter to help him in the US Senate," Moore tweeted approximately 3 hours ago, as we go to press.

"I look forward to fighting alongside the President to #MAGA!," Moore concludes his tweet.

According to a new CBS poll, Moore is up 6 points in the race.

In addition, results of the poll indicate that a majority of Alabama voters are not convinced by unsubstantiated accusations of sexual misconduct by Roy Moore.

"A total of 54 percent -- a majority -- of likely voters in Alabama said that the allegations are either definitely false, probably false, or that they have 'haven’t heard enough yet to say' whether they believe the allegations against Moore," Breitbart reports.

"Let's see the evidence," I stated in an earlier column.

"To borrow from Christopher Hitchens, if we are expected to condemn Roy Moore apart from evidence, we can just as easily -- and more rationally (innocent until proven guilty) -- not condemn Roy Moore in the absence of evidence. Executing Justice: Radicalized Politics Declares Kate Steinle Killer "Not Guilty"

By Rick Pearcey • December 1, 2017, 02:21 PM

Lloyd Billingsley writes at Frontpagemag.com:

A San Francisco jury on Thursday found Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, also known as Juan Francisco Lopez Sanchez, not guilty of the murder of Kate Steinle on a San Francisco pier on July 1, 2015. The jury of six men and six women, including three immigrants, found the Mexican national not guilty of all murder and manslaughter charges and guilty only of felony possession of a firearm . . . .

Mexican national Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, 54, is a seven-time felon and has been deported five times. In 2015 federal authorities sought to detain him for deportation. San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi chose to defy the feds and release the Mexican national.

On July 1, 2015, the criminal illegal picked up a Sig Sauer .40 caliber pistol, stolen from a Bureau of Land Management officer, and fired the shot that killed Kate Steinle, only 32 years old. . . .

"Garcia Zarate has already proved five times that anybody can get away with violating U.S. immigration law," Billingsley continues. "He has already proved that in the sanctuary state of California, false-documented illegals are a privileged class."

Zarate "has also proved that a career criminal who is not even supposed to be in the country can literally get away with murder in broad daylight," Billingsley concludes. "When that happens, the killer’s public defender will call it a 'vindication for the rights of immigrants'."
