Kathleen Gilbert reports at LifeSiteNews:
President Obama has warmly endorsed new legislation to establish national recognition of homosexual "marriage," which lawmakers considered in a Senate committee hearing yesterday.
The "Respect for Marriage Act" would both eliminate the Defense of Marriage Act and establish federal spousal benefits for homosexual partners with state-issued marriage certificates.
With each passing day, Barack Obama behaves more and more as if he were the president of La-La Land, imposing "values" that bear no relation to reality. Homosexual "marriage" is a deeply flawed philosophic and linquistic oxymoron.
Under the fig leaf of "equality," it unleashes more pain into an already broken world that needs healing not hubris.
Moreover, just as unalienable rights are rooted in the Creator and not in governments or presidents, marriage as a bedrock social institution is a created given defined by the Creator, not by governments or presidents or subcultures in urban centers that disrespect and discriminate against the wonder and joy of male-female diversity.
The hubris on display is extreme. For just as Obama cannot rewrite the laws of gravity, he cannot redefine the norms for married life. This truely is above his paygrade. He would do well to respect his limitations.
Needless to say, attacking marriage is nowhere in Obama's, or any president's, job description as set forth by the U.S. Constitution. This assault expresses a contempt for the genuine human and humane liberty that defines the truly liberating mainstream of the American identity, whose center of gravity is the Creator (see the Declaration of Independence).
Thus Obama's extreme and destructive radicalism against all that for which an enlightented, free, and dignified America stands.
A society that follows Obamaism and his pretend "values" will crash and burn and die, just as passengers who fly on aircraft that violate the laws of flight will crash and burn and die.
Clearly, the sons and daughters of Bunker Hill are wiser than this. We can do better. So let's do it.
