Bullies! Atheist Group Pressures City to Remove 91-Year-Old Memorial Cross

By Rick Pearcey • April 26, 2012, 09:37 AM

Caroline May reports in The Daily Caller on new efforts to oppress from an extremist group known as the Freedom From Religion Foundation:

An atheist group is pressuring Woonsocket, R.I., to remove a 91-year-old Latin cross located in the City of Woonsocket’s fire station parking lot.

The Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) announced this week that they had sent a letter to Woonsocket Mayor Leo Fontaine requesting that the city not only remove the cross, but also scrub a memorial angel and prayer -- which they describe as “woefully out of date” -- from the fire department’s website.

According to the group, it is illegal for the city to promote any religion.

Somebody might point out to our atheist buddies that truth is never "out of date," "woefully" or otherwise.

A good example of this is the Declaration of Independence, which asserts the rationally and empirically verifiable truth (which arguably cannot be said of atheism) that "All men are created Equal" and are "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights."

Or is the Creator "illegal," too, O Atheist Man?

Hold onto that cross, good citizens of Woonsocket. That cross represents the highest form of love, reason, and commitment against tyranny, whether spiritual, political, or "legal," including the inhumane tyranny of blind faith and of irrational atheism.

So, yes, there is another item that never goes out date: rebellion against foolishness.

Upshot? Sock it to 'em Woonsocketers. Resist. Live your lives fully. Resist and resist again! Maybe you can help pry open a closed-down atheistic mind or two. In return, you get to stay free.
