Gallup Poll: Contra Obama, White and Non-White Americans Massively Favor Photo ID to Vote

By Rick Pearcey • August 24, 2016, 03:32 PM

According to the results of a Gallup poll published this week, 80% of Americans favor "requiring all voters to provide photo identification at their voting place in order to vote."

What's more, according to Gallup, this very strong support is reflected across the diversity of races in the U.S., with 81% of whites favoring a photo ID requirement and 77% of nonwhites favoring photo ID.

This strong support and broad unity stand in contrast to the divisive, out-of-touch, fraud-friendly approach of Barack Obama.

On the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, Obama specifically targeted "laws with restrictive photo ID requirements" as a contemporary example of "many people trying to erect new barriers to the vote."

In fact, what Americans of all colors strongly favor are barriers to voter fraud -- restrictions on the possibility of stealing elections. And photo ID makes it more difficult to commit voter fraud.

"In sum," Gallup concludes, Americans want "stronger checks against fraud." That's a good thing. Right, Mr. Obama?
