Election 2016: "Treason" -- Voter Wisdom Needed as Homeland Security Chairman Blasts Hillary Clinton Over Emails

By Rick Pearcey • November 3, 2016, 01:53 PM

Chuck Ross reports at the Daily Caller:

Hillary Clinton likely committed "treason" by using a private email server that U.S. intelligence sources have told Fox News were almost certainly hacked by five foreign spy agencies, the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee said on Thursday.

Texas Rep. Michael McCaul, who chairs the Homeland Security Committee, made the hefty charge in an interview on "Fox & Friends" in response to news that two sources with knowledge of the FBI's investigation of Clinton's server say that there is a 99 percent chance that Clinton's server was breached.

"She exposed it to our enemies," McCaul, a Republican, said of the classified information found on Clinton's server.

"Now, our adversaries have this very sensitive information that not only jeopardizes her and national security at home, but the men and women serving overseas."

"This is a huge story," McCaul said. "It's far bigger than the accusations against Donald Trump. It goes to the heart of the fitness of character to serve as commander in chief."

Let me suggest that no one concerned about the national security of our nation -- which to the degree that it is compromised and threatened, to that degree places all of us and our families at risk of pain and death -- can vote in a way that enables Hillary Clinton to win the presidency.

This is not abstract. Nor is it speculation. A Hillary Clinton as president is not fixable. Instead, it would be a self-imposed unnatural disaster of potentially the highest order. The real-world pain and destruction is potentially incalculable.

Fortunately, this self-imposed unnatural disaster need not be, for we today are in position to avoid that outcome by simply voting morally wisely between now and November 8.

Rather concretely, that means voting Trump and not voting a third-party candidate. For me, Trump clearly has his weaknesses, and I expect there to be robust give and take on several aspects of his agenda.

On issues such as national security, however, Trump's positions are hardly those of someone who would sell this nation down the river. Unfortunately for us, Hillary Clinton may already have done so. And apparently seems to think all is well.

Let's not even begin to ratify such a grave betrayal by allowing her to capture the Oval Office.

Acting in ways that prevent unnatural disasters is crucial to living morally, wisely, and humanely in a broken world.

Let's keep the light on as much as possible so that we can clean this place up.
